Obama didn't even visit the troops in Iraq, even when he spent tax-payer dollars to fly over there. Obama wouldn't admit that the troop surge was a sucess when he was interviewed. Since McAin supported the surge, it would make him look bad.
Ironic that by not addressing the Surge, and perhaps by not visiting the troops, Obama has looked bad. The Gallop Poll has Obama with a slight 1 point lead. Another Poll has McCain up by a point.
Now, when you watch the news, read the Paper, internet, etc.. Is that the race the News Media is describing?
I think not. And quick Triva question: Who was the last Candidate to be reported on as "Sure Thing" to win the White House?
Why should either candidate... any cadidate, who goes to Iraq as part of their camapign, not be asked specific questions about what they learned there?

Our country has spent trillions of dollars, our economy is on the brink of collapse, gas is $4.50 a gallon, thousands of troops have died, tens of thousands physically and/or mentally damaged, close to 1 MILLION innocent Iraqis are dead, we've lost some of our liberties and when it's all over it will have taken twice as long as WW2.
Let's say, I want to swim 15000 laps. I keep swimming lap after lap day after day. I don't pay bills, I don't call my Gfnd.
Finally, I finish 15000 laps. I get out of the pool and discover that my house was foreclosed gone and my Gfnd has left me, all because I was wrapped up in swimming 15000 laps.
So:
Was swimming 15000 successful? NO.
But, Was I successful at swimming 15000 laps? YES.
Well, you started out with a clear and unwavering goal. So, yes, you were successful at the 15000 laps.
The goals of the war changed many times, the description of success was never really clear to begin with. Success for this illegal mistake, in my opinion, would be to get the government of Iraq to be able to run their country. That cannot be accomplished militarily, only politically.

However, the Commander in Chief is an administrator. Meaning, that unless you are opposed to all war, for any reason, then you acknowledge that a C&C should be able to assess the success of failure of the military to execute the mechanics of war.
If Obama is qualified to be C&C, then he has all the info needed to determine if in Iraq the US Military has successfully executed the exercise.
