That Marcus Miller is my dream bass lol, played it in a local music store today and was BLOWN AWAY! It's so damn clear, it's a complete mind fuck. I thouht it would sound a lot like a regular jazz bass as far as slap goes..but nah. I felt like a pro playing that bad boy. Saving up right now.

@DucatDesFlynne With earth , wind, and fire's basslines were always kinda rhytmic or staccato. The silent pauses were just as funky as the notes he played. It added alot of flavor to his basslines.

@DucatDesFlynne for starters these type of lines are based on pentatonic scales and chord tones and octaves... the rhythm is syncopated usually accentuating the guitar, and sometimes the voice like a small part in the bridge, but for the most song it is accentuating off beats. HunBassman is right we bassists are made to groove but you as a KB player can write a funk-bass line you need to get in a bass player's shoes :)

You know, Verdine is one of the most entertaining members of the group. That guy does NOT stop dancing and jumping around during the entire concert. And, EWF is one of those bands that plays for 2-1/2 to 3 hours!!...They are the best performers. And I have been a fan for 30 years, I see them every time they come to Hawaii. How about doing more of their music?? The opening of "In The Stone" has a great bass line in the intro. I wanna see you do that one!! What do you say?? Up for the challenge?

N,o, I always record video and audio separately. That's why audio quality is so good (but it never can be good enough :-).

I record video with my webcam and the audio through my Korg PX4D going into my soundcard, with Cubase software. Then I edit them with Windows Movie Maker.

No effect on the bass, it's youtube's audio compression which makes the video sound like I played under the water or something (as MarloweDK said). :)
