My husband and I both need new phones and traditionally get the same model, but we're on a fixed income and can't afford 2, and the plans to support them, all at once. The day I went to order mine, the sales rep told me about the Note, which is too large for my husband's hands but perfect for me. Now he's getting a Skyrocket, which I'll use for 2 months while we save enough for my Note...unless he decides to wait for the Skyrocket HD! :-\
ive had every iphone since 2007 and then i got fed up with att and left since my contract was up. so i went to verizon and got the razr maxx and rooted it. i couldnt be happier. apple should think about actually making real changes to their phone because its extremely played out.

I am happy with my Atrix, even though now it would be considered outdated. I like the freedom I have with Android. I like having a lot of options but I don't like it when phone makers release a new phone every few months that aren't very different from the previous release. They should make less phones and put more thought into each release. I agree with you Jon!
@TheFern3423 I personally prefer android because of the customization. Apple devices are very locked down as to what you can customize. The reason why I don't have an android is because apple has the best app store.
That's why I love Apple...you get the same OS throughout its lineup. Whether you have a iPod Touch, 3GS, 4 or 4S...they are all used the same way and there's no learning curve.

Most of the new Android phones may have different manufactures, but they carry similar specs, if not the same exact specs.
If you recently bought a phone that have for example the Nvidia Tegra 2 dual core don't consider other new phones with the same specs "Better" then yours just because it came out later. But If the new ones come with quad-cores like the Tegra 3, twice the performance, that's something to consider and new processors mostly come out once a year
your frustration echos what happened in the 80s/90s with PCs - buy one, get it delivered and BANG a new one's announced. Best to get the 'best one at the time' and move on until nearer the end of contract.

I almost bought the Droid Razr but the day that I was gonna go to Verizon to get I heard about the Droid Razr Maxx coming out so I waited and got it on the day it came out instead I bought one of the last 2 they had.

these problems newer occurred with Symbian phones nor maemo, nor any Nokia phone. For the past 5 years i've had 4 phones: Nokia 6151, Nokia N81, SE Vivaz Pro(huge disapointment after N81), and Nokia X6 16gb(should have gone for any S^3 device, because the lack of power is killing my gamer side that wants to plug his phone to an HD TV and play quality games like Angry birds, Asphalt 6, real racing and others)

I have used three android phones now and I now know for certain that android will never come close to iPhone, all these android phones are garbage, they just do not work as well as an iPhone. It's a good thing Android has lots of different devices each with their own benefits. I think people get too caught up with what the latest device is and forget what they actually want from their phone. If you don't need LTE, an 8mp camera or exceptionally long battery life, why should these upgrades be forced with the better CPU and HD screen that you did want? More releases makes it less likely to buy features you won't use and drops the price. This is good as long as they are polished devices

There may be a lot of consumers out there who know nothing about the specs of one mobile phone from another and choose one that they are happy with for years in that another chose could have done the same thing. I've used an iPhone 3 & 4 for the last three years and liked them very much. I've never used an Android device. And I want a device with a bigger screen. This year when I can upgrade I will research.

@jolichja Agree 100%! I got a HTC Desire Z (G2 in the US) because I wanted a smartphone with a slide-out keyboard. Now it's considered "old" but I've no desire to change it anytime soon. It depends whether you buy fully into consumerism or not I suppose.
Jon I agree 100%. I myself have used both android and ios and honestly the android phones come out at such a fast pace it drives me insane. Most of the time there is barely any difference between the current model and the new one that launches.

They may release alot of phones but there not exactly alot better, I got the galaxy s2 in august and its considered to the in the top 3. The only problem I have it the names... instead the titan 2 name it the titan+ or the titan s. Or wait a year and put all the small updates together, clearly there getting the small updates at a time from apple.
I agree not only would getting a phone that has something slightly better get released within a matter of weeks be frustrating but it's as if these phone makers just rehash phones that can't catch up to the iPhone. Why don't they just do like apple and put all of their best ideas and innovation in one or two awesome bug free phones every year?
I think it's more about the manufacturers competing each other to have the best phone on the market, as a consumer, I don't have too much of a problem of not having the "best" phone. i actually think it's a good thing while 2 years ago you'll need to wait a few months before renewing your phone plan to be sure. now you can pick one out anytime, the specs are about the same, the software will all get updated eventually, and plenty of styles to choose from. also, talking about brand loyalty.
Amen to that Jon. I feel so sad for customers, especially when they're not getting the best for what they pay for. Sure, tech never slows down, but if you're going to release another phone with the small addition of LTE, why not wait and deliver a good product for customers, competition for the market and strong brand loyalty. Im getting a galaxy S II tommorow . Getting it for the quality i know i can depend on for 2 years not for the fact that its the newest phone out there. I could honestly care less if they tweak it a little every few months because im not the type to be showing off my phone and bragging about it being new.

I was really glad to hear that the Motorola CEO said that they are going to be releasing fewer phones this year hopefully it sticks. Also I fully agree this is crazy the only phone that i ever feel confident in telling people to get that is running android is a Nexus device and thankfully a bunch of my friends have jumped on the G-Nex and are totally loving it.

It's a good thing Android has lots of different devices each with their own benefits. I think people get too caught up with what the latest device is and forget what they actually want from their phone. If you don't need LTE, an 8mp camera or exceptionally long battery life, why should these upgrades be forced with the better CPU and HD screen that you did want? More releases makes it less likely to buy features you won't use and drops the price. This is good as long as they are polished devices

i managed to buy a unlocked galaxy s2 for 300$ new without contract when they were selling for 400-600$, few months later today, no body is even buying it for 300$, you get screwed over to the max when reselling android phones, even the latest and fastest ones.

So true, I have droid 2 right when I got this the 3 cameout. I was about to get droid charge when bionic was anounced decided to wait for that, then galaxy nexus was anounced. So frustrating, wich is y I jst decided to stick with my droid global. Fk phone companies they can have my money, but not until I want to.lol!

Rant on, Jon.You make scene in that there are a lot of Android phones out there now. There may be a lot of consumers out there who know nothing about the specs of one mobile phone from another and choose one that they are happy with for years in that another chose could have done the same thing. I've used an iPhone 3 & 4 for the last three years and liked them very much. I've never used an Android device. And I want a device with a bigger screen. This year when I can upgrade I will research.

@jolichja Agree 100%! I got a HTC Desire Z (G2 in the US) because I wanted a smartphone with a slide-out keyboard. Now it's considered "old" but I've no desire to change it anytime soon. It depends whether you buy fully into consumerism or not I suppose.

Jon I agree 100%. I myself have used both android and ios and honestly the android phones come out at such a fast pace it drives me insane. Most of the time there is barely any difference between the current model and the new one that launches.

They may release alot of phones but there not exactly alot better, I got the galaxy s2 in august and its considered to the in the top 3. The only problem I have it the names... instead the titan 2 name it the titan+ or the titan s. Or wait a year and put all the small updates together, clearly there getting the small updates at a time from apple.

I think it's more about the manufacturers competing each other to have the best phone on the market, as a consumer, I don't have too much of a problem of not having the "best" phone. i actually think it's a good thing while 2 years ago you'll need to wait a few months before renewing your phone plan to be sure. now you can pick one out anytime, the specs are about the same, the software will all get updated eventually, and plenty of styles to choose from. also, talking about brand loyalty.

Amen to that Jon. I feel so sad for customers, especially when they're not getting the best for what they pay for. Sure, tech never slows down, but if you're going to release another phone with the small addition of LTE, why not wait and deliver a good product for customers, competition for the market and strong brand loyalty. This is why none of those manufacturers are known for making "the best".

I signed a 2 year contract, not a 6 month contract. So it wouldn't really benefit me if they did time the releases to every 6 months or so. If it upsets people so much, don't buy them. The manufacturers would have to adjust if people did that.

I was really glad to hear that the Motorola CEO said that they are going to be releasing fewer phones this year hopefully it sticks. Also I fully agree this is crazy the only phone that i ever feel confident in telling people to get that is running android is a Nexus device and thankfully a bunch of my friends have jumped on the G-Nex and are totally loving it.
