We removed the stock clutch right away and replaced it with the Mcleod RXT twin disc clutch. I'm sure the stock clutch would have worked for a little while but probably not at the power level we're at now.
@Lethalcamp i am looking at slapping this 624hp kit on my 5.0 would you recommend the clutch be changed? or what would be wrong with leaving the stock one in? i dont go to the track often just my goal out of that car is the 600rwhp range keeping it as streetable as possible cuz i drive it to work quite often. just want that extra juice and i wish that whine was louder. love the whipple blower sound. GREAT car tho guys fantastic work!!
@Lethalcamp Was gonna say though, of course, depending what the current power band looks like with the blower, you still might use 4th and get better pull out of it. Since 4th is a 1:1, maybe short shift to 4th @ 6000RPM/103MPH and use the 4600-6000 power band to carry you from 103 to 125-130MPH? I hope my numbers aren't off, but is just a theory.
@Lethalcamp Your next trick is gonna be dropping a more muscle friendly GT500 tranny (Tremec TR-6060) in that b1tch. I could be off on my math, but with 28" tires, and a slight raise of the rev limiter to ~7250RPM, you should only have to shift 3 times and streak through the traps at about 125! :) And if you want a nasty shiftless 0-60 setup with the same top end, drop yourself a Tremec T-56 Magnum TUET8272 (hydraulic, with 2.66 1st) in it and ur good to go. Good work on the car so far!
@declaratedvet You can't hear it because the air box chokes the sound. Check out the other vid of the car on the dyno with the Whipple cold air kit and you can hear the blower whine then.
@Omega47 With their current setup, even with 26" tires, he would have to shift into 5th if they had 4.10's. :( The Getrag 6MTI500/MT82 tranny that comes in the new 5.0L is really short-geared. The 4th gear in that one is 1.32, so with 4.10 final drive gears and 26" tires will only get you to about 107MPH @ 7000RPM, if my math is right. And he's typically not shifting right at 7K, probably because it stops breathing well once past 6500-6800 RPM. If anything, he'd need 3.55s and a 7500RPM redline
Great run and awesome shifting! That's how you do it! Get er' done lol ;)

Nice run. I would have expected a much higher MPH, even with the DA in Florida on this pass.

really sucks that theres no blower whine. Is there any way to get that sound with these cars if you wanted to? I mean like really scream

@Ctanz12
Once you remove the stock enclosed airbox and replace it with an open filter element cold air kit the whine becomes noticeable.

Is this with the stock clutch? Can it handle the added power of the supercharger kit?

@shat9611
The shift light in the dash is stock. It's pretty bad ass looking at night.

1 to 1 ratio. We'll have the 28" tires back on the car this week so there won't be anymore 5 gear shifts.
