@czlzy I believe so. All Logitech remotes work off of the same data base. If your remote supports the Harmony Extender, I would also recommend getting that too. The IR-543 box is just like any other device. You just treat it like any other equipment.
@itchykawa on logitech's website it states tht 1100 and 900 are not capable of sequences.. but is tht true this can be done by creating more activities? btw is there a limit on how many sets of activities can be created?
@czlzy You are correct with sequences, but I haven't had a need for them. You can set delays and such with the 1100 and also by creating multiple actions under the activities, you can kinda work around that issue. There really isn't a limit, the only limit is how many devices you can add. 12-15 is the max.
So how exacrtly can you control the lights alone?? I mean do you need to buy special remote control plug sockets? And then program them into the controller?
@ADMediaEmpire Thanks for watching. You can control the lights in many ways. You can actually use the IR control box that has the buttons on it, or you can go into the devices on the remote, and access the controls for the lighting box in there. You must obviously program the IR-543 box in the remote software. Watching my programming guide to see how I did it.
@ADMediaEmpire One more thing, as for programing the controller, that is done on the box itself. Each light module has a House Number and a lighting number. I set my box to House B and each lighting module I set 1 lamp to (1) and the other on (2). I also set the lamp modules to match the house lettter (B). They have these numbers and letters so you can mix and match many lighting systems in the house with out duplication.
Hey How's it going I love your video's I have an lo guy Logitech 1000 and I'm getting the X-10 lighting system my question to you is what module should I get the screw in one or the plug in kind your input and know how would be greatly appreciated again Dude you ROCK! Oh and before I let you go is the 1100 really that much better than the 1000?
@rkymtnlaw Thanks for watching. You need to use the plug in modules. The Screw in types only work on RF, not IR or Electric Wiring. Plug in modules work with the IR-543 box. As for the 1100, I currently own that now. I recently got rid of the 1000. Check out my new video about the 1100. As for features, there really isn't much new about the 1100. It's basically what Logitech should have come out with in the first place. It fixes many bugs, and it's much faster in response time to commands.
Nice, now all you need is the Sony 400 disc Blu-Ray player so you don't have to get up to change discs. Too bad all the discs won't show up on the Logitech screen, haha.
which x10 items are you using? i have a few things and i cannot get the lights to work? how did you program it into the remote?
also i set up my PS3 without the adapter. i programed everything to switch to where it needs to, then just pick up the ps3 remote and hit the power button. i need to use that remote anyway as i just use the PS3 for gaming.

@ajselectronichelprs Yes, thanks for the reminder I plan on doing a complete new video to add on to this. I will be doing shortly. I know the X-10 can be very confusing. This time the video will be in HD.
@rphillips21 Do get this lighting to work I would purchase the equipment from thex10shop. com They seems to have the best prices and they ship very fast. I would use them instead of x10. com You need to get IR543 controller box first. This will send commands to each X10 module which is the thing you plug into the wall and plug a lamp into that. The IR543 plugs into any outlet. Also you need to get some LM465 soft start modules. These are for the lamps. I hope this helps.
@itchykawa Thanks that does help. I will also start buying from theX10shop. Its funny because the guy at Ulitmate Electronics told me that its impossible to program lighting with the harmony 1000 I said "Thats funny cause I saw a guy on youtube do it"
@rphillips21 Yes, there are some people that just don't know or understand....I do a ton of research before I say no, this product can't do that. I used to work at Radio Shack at my first job and I did help a ton of people......i always heard that Best Buy employees didn't know anything.....thank god for the people at Radio Shack...LOL. But I'm glad to help. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask away.
@itchykawa I now have the IR 543 does it only work for lamps or does it also work with wall switches? How did you program your harmony to work with the lights? Did you learn it? I think my harmony is broke...
@rphillips21 It should work with X-10 wall switches. If not, you can get IR wall switches and point the remote at it. To program it's all done with the software. You must add X-10 to the devices and then you can add X-10 to your current activities, like Watch a DVD. You can tell it to dim the lights when you turn on your system to watch a movie. I did not learn it, you have to program it on the software. I plan on making a video explaining this since it's confusing some people.
@asim14545 You can go to X10.com for general prices,...but I wouldn't advise purchasing from them. I use a private store online. Go to thex10shop. com They have the best prices on earth and they are very quick to ship. I buy only from them. You won't be disappointed. You can find everything you need here for your lighting needs.
@asim14545 LM465 module for each lamp $6.99 each. X10 IR543 controller box $10.99 Very cheap to get automation lighting in a house. prices are based from thex10shop. com
is there like a speacial box u need to get to work the light or can i work any light in my house if i have my modle # or my light in my home let me know asap thank u.
@joseph10704 No, you definitely need the Controller IR543. Do a search on google. You will find people who sell them. This box converts that IR signal to X-10 signals on your electrical wiring in the house. I hope this helps.
@itchykawa so wait ia m soo like brain dead lol with this box that u are telling me about all i have to do is pluge it in to one of my outlets in my home and then i am done i dont have to bring over a person to hook up wiering in my house is is pluge in a play and it will work let me know asap because i think i am right i just dont really know just yet lol.
@joseph10704 Technically, YES, all you need is that box. What the box exactly does is when it send the command out to your lights, it sends it out over all over your existing wiring. So as long as all your wiring is tied together correctly, the box should control it. If the electrically wiring in your house wasn't installed right then you do run into the chance that it may not control all of the lights. But I highly doubt that it would be that way.
@itchykawa ok cool one for question and so sorry for the question but i want to controll my track light in my room do u think that it will be aple to control my track light with this box that ur talking about and i went on amizion and the box is like 20 bucks lol i need to get a universal remote too i was thinking about geting the logitec 1100 if it will controll my track light in my room then that will be good :)
@joseph10704 Yes, to control the track lighting, you need to replace the switch that controls those lights. Any X-10 dimmer switch or IR dimmer switch should work. Then all you need to do is program the Logitech 1100 and follow the on screen instructions on the computer.
@itchykawa ok so if i chage my dimmer and get a ir dimmer i will not need that othere box u were talking about the controller ir543 i can just use the ir and get the logitec 1100 to control my light and thats all ,and one more thing what does ir stand for dude :) thnk u for all the help aswell u been a good one for me :) let me know about that tho.
@joseph10704 1st, IR stands for Infrared. If the IR dimmer is within the same line of sight as your equipment, and it's the only light you are going to control, then you do not need the IR543 box. But if it's in another room out of sight, or if you are using lamp modules that plug into the wall, you need the IR543 box to send the signals to the lights on the electrical wiring.
@itchykawa DUDE THANK U SOO MUCH the funny thing is liek when i said to myself what does ir mean i was like wait a second infarared and well it hit me in the face because the logitec harmony remotes are basted off of IR things lol hell it uses it too lol i found a why to do this now it make m life a hell of a lot easyer like 100 percent easy :) i got a IR dimmer that i looked at and its a nice price so i am happy to home depot i go :) thank u again dude.i just new ther was a cool why :)
Lol I know exactly what you mean. That's why I understand how people don't like the harmony remotes they are simply amazing. I use to receive phone calls at work tellin me I can't watch tv it's not working I don't know how to change the receiver thingy. Than I would have to go step by step lol. Not anymore I love this remote :)
Wow that's awesome. I really been thinking about the Roomba n now that I know that it's controlled by the harmony makes me want It more lol. Thanx. Wow even in wall air coditioners? I didnt know that.
That's pretty amazing. I was thinking about getting a Roomba. Work good? How long have you had it? Thanx for your help. I am buying the IR-543 to control my x-10 products with my harmony. Nice setup too :)!
The roomba works great, just make sure you drain the battery all the way down since it is only a Ni-Cad and has a memory effect. Our battery died within 3 months since we didn't charge it right. Since it was under warranty, we got new batteries from iRobot shipped to us for free. We had the roomba for about 2 years now. I was shocked that this remote could control it. It even controls in wall air conditioners.
1100 is very easy to program....but you really have to know exactly what you want your home theater to do. The setup on the computer is straight forward, but I would strong read the manual first if you are unsure. Basically, I did a lot of extensive testing before I got the results I wanted. To program just a few things is easy, but it got a bit harder when I needed to add lighting, climate control and my robotic vaccum. So just keep testing on the computer, and I'm sure you'll get it fast.
No problem, if you do decide to get one and you need answers on what to get, let me know. I have helped a few people out already and their systems (lighting) is awesome.
@itchykawa Oh ! just after you answered me the first time I went and purchased one for $130 and yes if I need some help with it I will be sure to yell at ya lol
I use a Gyration Keyboard and Mouse. It's actually pretty cool. I can use the mouse in the air. As for powering on the computer, my remote will not turn on the computer. I do not have it set up that way. As for turning on the computer, I do not know of a way to do that. As for controlling it when it's on, you need to install a IR Port (USB) on your computer with software. Once installed, program the Logitech to control it. It should work.
After looking up your model that you stated, it seems like it's a Euro style plug, correct? I live in the USA and I bought mine for US plug. My model is LM465. You must look for any module that has a soft start. That means when you turn it on it will vamp on and off slowly. Below is a link of where I bought mine for US only.
@itchykawa - im in Australia, and do come with the right plug, its only $30 so i guess its worth a trial. i'll some research and see if the LM465 is available here, and let you know
So close.. It worked just fine.. Took every command even though I repeated the Dim several times.. but even if I adjust the tiem delay to 0 you can still see it pausing every ten percent.. kinda sillyl looking.. Oh well.. was worth a try..
Hey there.. I just got my stuff in and the lighting works great! I have small question though.. Have you found a way to run an activity such as you have in your video to have the light not go completely off, but dim to say 50% or and amount other than completly off?
Yes, Select the activity you want to have the lights dim at 50%. Go to "Review the Settings for this activity", then select "Yes, But I want to add more control of options and devices for this activity". Add the X-10 Controller, hit save. Hit next until you get to the lighting portion, which is usually at the end. You'll see a drop down box at the bottom, select the lighting. Hit add, select dim/1second delay add another command to do the same thing, It may only only 3 dim commands.
This is the big problem with how they designed the controller. Every click on the dim button it only dims it about 10% or so. This means you have to tell the harmony remote to repeat the dim command 5 times. I'm not even sure it can do that, but you should test that with those instructions I have. Instead of telling it to turn them off, add that command of dim 5 times. It may just do the trick.
ah.. Yea that does make sense.. Ok im gonna try it today after work .. Ill let ya know how I make it.. in case you care to know lol
One last small question.. I noticed that when dimming manually.. it required to hit the "Light 1" key first and then hold Dim. so if I program the dim button in like you showed me will that be an automatic dim for all lights.. or do I somehow have to tell it which light Im talking about.. I only have 1 light btw
Yes, I forgot to mention that, make sure you tell what lights you want to dim, it's easier if all of them are the same number (programing sake) and yes, if you hold dim it allows you to dim them continually, but the remote only sends out a single dim command I believe. You can either hold or just press dim to get different effects. I would test both ways and see what you like the best. It's all a testing game and eventually you will be come a pro.
Dude you rule! Ive been looking everywhere for lighting information, seeing how the whole Zwave thing was very misleading and no longer works on newer Harmony remotes..
Quick question..
I jsut purchased the X10 converter that you showed in video.. For the actual device you plug each lamp in, I went with a couple of LM465. Does that sound like the right lamp module to do simple dimming on and off like in your setup?
After researching that model, it seems that you have the same feature as mine. It's called a soft on/off. All you have to do is tell the harmony remote to turn on Light 1 and/or 2 depending on how many lights you have and the module will automatically vamp or dim your lights. Make sure you get the Controller IR543 to control them. Since making this video, got the Wireless Remote Extender by Harmony, and now can control 8 of my devices anywhere in the house, including my lighting!
yea I just bought the RF adapter yesterday. Works fantastic.. I didnt even need to use any of thports.. The IR blast on the top of it is great.. Thanks for the help.. And yes I did order the IR543 from your vided as well :) Can't wait to receive them.
is 900 capable of doing this? thx

I'm researching X10 dimmers for when my Harmony 1100 arrives, and was wondering what model of dimmers are you using?
The LM12 Lamp Module seems like want I want since the LM15 Lamp Module doesnt seem to be able to dim.
Thanks for your help

After looking up your model that you stated, it seems like it's a Euro style plug, correct? I live in the USA and I bought mine for US plug. My model is LM465. You must look for any module that has a soft start. That means when you turn it on it will vamp on and off slowly. Below is a link of where I bought mine for US only.

If you do that, keep all your lights on the same house identifier and numeric identifier to keep the commands for the remote simple.

If I program activity to the DIM buttton instead of the off button.. How will it now to only dim 50%? How do you tell it that part?
Thanks for your help.. Cant find this info anywhere else :)

Thanks again!

Thanks again!!!
