lol our whole question is answered at 2:50... look at what jon ritchie says and the video. he had BOTH hands on the ball at the time of the strip. no tuck. he wasn't "tucking it in." the tuck had been completed
Oh God. All of these people hating the Pats. Does anyone forget this is a rule, Brady has fire in his heart, he's not bitchy, and they are a fantastic team...
this was only because they were in new england and brady always bitches like a little girl. it was obviously a fumble. i watched that game first hand and there is no way it isn't a fumble, even with the tuck rule. blown call

if this show had been made within the past two years, the Calvin Johnson end-zone play against the Bears in last year's opening game would definitely be included in the top 10
Worst call in NFL History. Especially for a call under review, just horrible especially in a playoff game. One of the reasons I hate the patriots and Tom Brady. Raiders blatantly robbed.
Terrible call, however pats didn't win a superbowl cuz of this call. They didn't hand them the trophy after this play. And spygate....have the pats had a losing record since then? Oh no thats right but they have gone 18-0, ur teams ever done that? Uhuh...funny excuses for their success.
I actually agree with the Tuck rule. But this wass beyond the Tuck rule. Tom Brady pumps the ball, puts it back, and has 2 hands on the ball when the ball comes loose, therefore, Brady becomes a runner will full possesion. This should've been a fumble. There was a Tuck rule this year where the correct call was made. I forgot what game it was, but it was the NY Giants and Justin Tuck sacking a QB.
@KBUnitz no it was not played fairly i was at that game and everyone in the stand including jets fans said that the tuck rule had should have not come into play
@KBUnitz the tuck rule makes no sense what so ever. a qb can have his arm going back and can fumble, it can go forward and be an incomplete pass, he can pump fake, slip out of his hand and fumble, but if he is hit during the fake it's a tuck? why, if he is bringing the ball back into his body is he immune from fumble during that brief moment? it's a prima donna rule.
@KBUnitz it was mark sanchez i swear i was pissed off when i saw that play sanchez pumps then puts the ball down then steps backwards n gets sacked it was a fumble even tho giants won that game the referees were giving them bullshit calls
I'm a 49ers fan that didn't care which team won this game (though if I had to pick it would be the Raiders). I laugh at all the fans that realize the call was legit so they start complaining about how BS the rule was. The rule had been in there for years in advance, it wasn't made up on the spot. A rule is a rule, regardless of how "stupid" it is
That said, you're right. People should be complaining about the fact that he had both hands on the ball, NOT how stupid the rule is
People say that the rule is stupid because as long as the ball is away from a players body, you can have two hands on the ball. And also you can search on google, "top 10 controverisal calls nfl total access" and it's the first link, and watch Rich Eisen admit that it was in fact the proper interpretation of the tuck rule, then he spits all over the tuck rule. So I can understand your confusion and why people laugh at you because I used to think exactly like you did.
@KBUnitz It may look like that when you look at the footage in super slow-mo, but what takes you 10 seconds to look at is actually 1.5 seconds in real life. If you look at it in real time I think it looks more like an incomplete pass than a fumble. Its just more Raider fans whining and splitting hairs. Tom Brady even said he was looking to pass the ball. Its an incomplete pass and Raiders fans can stop whining about it.
@wtficantgetanamewtf Tom Brady said that? Really? What else is he going to say genius? He's not gonna say "yes, I fumbled and we should've lost". He's the same person who said "we're only going to score 17 points? Hahah. Okay" at Super Bowl 42. But I do agree that in real time it looks more like an incomplete pass. But when you slow it down, clearly he has 2 hands on the ball when Charles Woodson knocks it out, it's a fumble and a bad call. And I'm not a Raiders fan, I don't care much for them.
Search on google "top 10 controversial calls nfl total access and watch Rich Eisen admit to the world that it was in fact the proper interpretation of the tuck rule, then he immediately spits all over the tuck rule. Watch for yourself then decide.
@patsrule213 Rich Eisen? Really? Am I supposed to be impressed about what he has to say? He's a journalist/analyst. He's not a former referee or highr ranking employee of the NFL. If former head referee/current FOX ref consultant Mike Pereira says it was the right call, then I'll accept it. But to this date, I have yet to hear a ref or NFL employee say it was the right call.
First of all, I used to agree with your analysis in the past, but I realized that I was wrong when I saw that the ball was away from his body, and because it is possible to throw the ball with two hands. It's a pass as long as your arm is going forward and the ball is away from the body, it is a pass according to the tuck rule, because that's how vague the tuck rule. I can see why Rich Eisen wants the rule out of the game, but it looks like you didn't look up the video.
@patsrule213 I watched the video, I don't know if it was the right video or not, but ok so he agrees with the rule but thinks is stupid. And many people think it was a bad call and the rule is stupid. But then again it all comes down to opinions. But I think everyone thinks the rule is completely asinine.
But what can we do about it? Even if we get rid of the tuck rule, it won't change anything. Even if the nfl admitted that the call was wrong, it wouldn't change the fact that the Raiders lost. People are entitled to their opinion, I was just giving my opinion about it just like you have the right to express your opinion about it. In the end, we should just agree to disgree with each other.
another example of a rig job by the nfl to ensure east coast success. raiders win this game, they roll to the SB. they would have stomped the rams, but of course a raiders rams match up would not have gotten as many viewers. same thing for the niners this year. bradshaw fumbles with just over 2 min left on his own 20. refs just happen to blow the play dead a second after he fumbles.
@waterpoloplyr557 They would have stomped the rams? Keep dreaming!!! The rams were the best team that season, period! But one thing is certain, the raiders wouldn't have spied on the Rams. Cheatriots, rot in hell you bastards!
@BGUK09 as a raider fan i do agree with you at some extent the raiders probly wouldnt have won a huge margin against the Rams but it would have been 50/50 in my opinion plus i think it would have been a better match up Warner was a good QB who deserved another ring.
When the NFL network made the AL Davis story on ''A football life'', they showed this, I framed it step by step and it shows that Brady had both hands on the ball when it was hit loose. So this question is directed to the head official of that game, have you ever seen a quarterback throw the football with two hands? No, I didn't think so.
@violenceteacher6669 This is "The Origin of the Patriots Legacy" starting with this game late in 4th Qtr. I can see why Raiders fans STRONGLY dislike the Patriots. I like the Big Blue Commission myself.
blame it on the rule not brady, he had no control over tht bullshit, even tho they shudve lost tht game, they proved themselves worthy by goin on to beat the steelers and the rams
Definitely a fumble, even people that hate the Raiders agree that it WAS a fumble. I mean come on Brady even admits it. Man could of beat the Rams in the Superbowl.
I think it was a fumble based on the rule. However, the Raiders have nobody to blame but themselves for losing the game. They let Brady throw the ball all over the field in the second half, couldn't convert a third and one, chickened out on a fourth and inches by punting, couldn't recover Patriot fumbles, and let Brady drive on them in OT. Gruden is a chicken for not going for it on that fourth down.
I think the "Perfect Patriots" losing was the universe balancing the awful call here just to spit in their face the same way Raiders fans had their face spat on.
And don't say "oh, you're just a dumb Raiders fan." I'm a 49ers fan, and I don't care about the Raiders. But that was a bad call. That referee should be fired, and go back to being a schoolteacher, lawyer, etc, and those Raiders players should each get AFC Championship/Super Bowl bonuses from the NFL. It's only fair.
@faceurhell lol your one of the few 49er fans i have seen that dont bash on the raiders, and yes i agree that was our win we should have won this loss created the chain reaction effect that brought us to our team today.
listen to what they say the tuck rule is, the play fits that description exactly, so therefore is an incomplete pass. and @meast99 you need to take another look, when he is hit he does not have two hands on it.
The Pats still had to make a lot of things happen to get that win after the call.
That said, I've never seen a call effect a team in such a way. You could visibly see that their entire body language and mentality changed. They simple could not let it go.
I will never forget that bullshit game. Stupid rule.
@Gemini050788 I know. And belicheat who failed everywhere he went before all of a sudden becomes the greatest coach ever? I am sorry but whether people want to admit it or not there will always be a cloud of controversy and shadyness over the entire pats so called dynasty.
hahaha dumb ass raider fans. i bet if the raiders had stopped the pats on 4th and 4 and won the game, they wouldn't be bitching about that call today and as for the patriots and their spy gate and favoring tom brady bs what goes around comes around and it's in the form of eli manning whooping their asses in a super bowl (soon to be two super bowls)
@guitarsANDcars39 who cares. it happened TEN YEARS AGO. the raiders been sucking for the last decade after their super bowl run (btw they sucked in that game too) let's blame the tuck rule for that too. you so called patriots fans became fans when tom uggs wearing brady started winning. where were you in the 90s? not calling you a pats fan just throwing it out there. oh yea GO GIANTS even tho i'm not a giants fan.
@KalosJuice If that happened to the Pats, you would have been pissed. Or, to be more fair... 18-1, 18-1, 18-1, 18-1, 18-1, 18-1, 18-1, 18-1, 18-1, 18-1, 18-1, 18-1. Oh, and the 18-1 Bears and 49ers were much better all-around teams that weren't in a terrible division. Seriously... the post-Marino Dolphins/post-Kelly Bills/pre-Rex Ryans Jets were all garbage.
Literally, almost all of you are complete morons. There is such a thing as a bad call, but it's not a conspiracy. Get over the fact that the Raiders lost, fair or not.
@IBaneSniping your tellin me that wasnt a conspiracy? i dont see any other way im sorry, for me this is number one the worst call in football history i dont like the patrots anyway i often wonder how many superbowls are genuine with them after this call and spy gate. theres alot more cheating behind the seen with that franchise why do you think they are the so adamunt about keeping things within the organization and not leting and publicaty atall
@jessejones14 There is only one reason that you and everyone else talk about the Patriots cheating for their Superbowl wins. Because they're good. If the Colts were caught cheating this year nobody would ever give it a second thought. It would be completely lost in time after a few weeks. It's purely ignorant to say that the NFL is full of conspiracies.
@IBaneSniping i didnt say they werent a talented team the 3 superbowls the won they had a great defence and you cant go wrong with brady at qb but they were lucky with the tuck and they cheated with spy gate p.s i am a colts fan
@jessejones14 I know the tuck rule was a terrible call. But it's not a fixed league. Even under a Refs protection it could still be incredibly hard to win. And I wasn't insulting the Colts. They just fell under the radar without Manning.
Even Tom said it was a punk ass fumble!!! only Oakland get's dis fucked up calls every fucking time around but still keep it Raiders all day every day :)
It's a good thing that it wasn't Tom Brady who made that call, luckily it was Walt Coleman who made that call. And search on google, "top 10 controversial calls nfl total access". and it's the first link, and wtach Rich Eisen admit to the world thatg it was in fact the proper interpretation of the tuck, then he immediately spits all over the tuck rule. Watch for yourself, then you decide.
Watching this video gives me all the reason to see what a conspiracy the Patriots are. Brady knew he wasn't tucking the ball cuz he had both hands on it. No tuck, just a fumble.
This call was completely BOGUS, Tom CryBaby fumbled the ball, he even thought it was a fumble himself.. All u guys saying "all u Raiderfans stop crying, the refs and everybody else thought it was a fumble", get ur facts straight.. Ask one of the current NFL analysts, even alot of them will tell u it was clearly a fumble, the ones who says it was incomplete pass are just afraid of losing they'r job, or a big Patriots-fan.. This rule is ONLY applied in the NFL, NOT college, high school or etc..
People are saying it was the correct call according to the rule (which is dumb in of itself), but I don't think it is. Brady brought the ball down and put both his hands on the ball which to me signifies securing the ball.
"And the Patriots Win In Overtime 16-13!!!!!" GO PATRIOTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As for Raider Fans, Its Called Revenge for the 1976 Divisional Game. Oh and Hey, it didn't End the Game as it took 2 Near Miracle Kicks and 2 Drives to Win the Game.
That was a bad call because when Woodson sacked Brady he just got both hands on the ball. Tuck rule applies when you are attempting to tuck it back toward your body and Brady already did that. That should have been a fumble and the truth is the Raiders still had a chance to stop them but that call took the momentum away from them.
Whining about the tuck rule as the reason you lost the game is the same thing as complaining about bill buckner's ground ball through the legs. You still had to let them advance the ball to a field goal and lose in overtime.
@Aturayd uh I am not a raider fan, but come on man, if that was a fumble the game was over, they don't have to defend anymore. The call gave Brady and Pats another chance, is like a second life. Use your analogy, buckner would have a second chance on that ground ball, that is exactly what that call did.
@Sauron4389 but still. tom and the patriots only scored 13 points the ENTIRE game. they couldnt stop him a few more times? they shouldve stopped feeling sorry about themselfs and kept playing defense.
lol our whole question is answered at 2:50... look at what jon ritchie says and the video. he had BOTH hands on the ball at the time of the strip. no tuck. he wasn't "tucking it in." the tuck had been completed

WATERMANIAC153 2 weeks ago
@KBUnitz the tuck rule makes no sense what so ever. a qb can have his arm going back and can fumble, it can go forward and be an incomplete pass, he can pump fake, slip out of his hand and fumble, but if he is hit during the fake it's a tuck? why, if he is bringing the ball back into his body is he immune from fumble during that brief moment? it's a prima donna rule.
MisterBouncyBounce 1 week ago
@KBUnitz it was mark sanchez i swear i was pissed off when i saw that play sanchez pumps then puts the ball down then steps backwards n gets sacked it was a fumble even tho giants won that game the referees were giving them bullshit calls
Naruto4289 1 week ago
@KBUnitz I agree.

@superduperm1
So I can understand your confusion and why people laugh at you because I used to think exactly like you did.
patsrule213 6 days ago
@KBUnitz It may look like that when you look at the footage in super slow-mo, but what takes you 10 seconds to look at is actually 1.5 seconds in real life. If you look at it in real time I think it looks more like an incomplete pass than a fumble. Its just more Raider fans whining and splitting hairs. Tom Brady even said he was looking to pass the ball. Its an incomplete pass and Raiders fans can stop whining about it.
wtficantgetanamewtf 2 days ago
@wtficantgetanamewtf Tom Brady said that? Really? What else is he going to say genius? He's not gonna say "yes, I fumbled and we should've lost". He's the same person who said "we're only going to score 17 points? Hahah. Okay" at Super Bowl 42. But I do agree that in real time it looks more like an incomplete pass. But when you slow it down, clearly he has 2 hands on the ball when Charles Woodson knocks it out, it's a fumble and a bad call. And I'm not a Raiders fan, I don't care much for them.
KBUnitz 2 days ago
@KBUnitz
Search on google "top 10 controversial calls nfl total access and watch Rich Eisen admit to the world that it was in fact the proper interpretation of the tuck rule, then he immediately spits all over the tuck rule. Watch for yourself then decide.
patsrule213 14 hours ago
@patsrule213 Rich Eisen? Really? Am I supposed to be impressed about what he has to say? He's a journalist/analyst. He's not a former referee or highr ranking employee of the NFL. If former head referee/current FOX ref consultant Mike Pereira says it was the right call, then I'll accept it. But to this date, I have yet to hear a ref or NFL employee say it was the right call.
KBUnitz 13 hours ago
@KBUnitz
I can see why Rich Eisen wants the rule out of the game, but it looks like you didn't look up the video.
patsrule213 12 hours ago
@patsrule213 I watched the video, I don't know if it was the right video or not, but ok so he agrees with the rule but thinks is stupid. And many people think it was a bad call and the rule is stupid. But then again it all comes down to opinions. But I think everyone thinks the rule is completely asinine.

@KBUnitz
In the end, we should just agree to disgree with each other.
patsrule213 11 hours ago
@patsrule213 Yep you're right. You can't change the past, but if you get rid of the Tuck rule, you can prevent future bad calls such as this one.

Brady totally had that ball back to his body before he fumbled it. That was the Raiders year as well. They would have won the SB.
trencher7 3 weeks ago
another example of a rig job by the nfl to ensure east coast success. raiders win this game, they roll to the SB. they would have stomped the rams, but of course a raiders rams match up would not have gotten as many viewers. same thing for the niners this year. bradshaw fumbles with just over 2 min left on his own 20. refs just happen to blow the play dead a second after he fumbles.
waterpoloplyr557 3 weeks ago
@waterpoloplyr557 They would have stomped the rams? Keep dreaming!!! The rams were the best team that season, period! But one thing is certain, the raiders wouldn't have spied on the Rams. Cheatriots, rot in hell you bastards!
BGUK09 2 weeks ago
@BGUK09 as a raider fan i do agree with you at some extent the raiders probly wouldnt have won a huge margin against the Rams but it would have been 50/50 in my opinion plus i think it would have been a better match up Warner was a good QB who deserved another ring.
Metroid338 2 weeks ago
When the NFL network made the AL Davis story on ''A football life'', they showed this, I framed it step by step and it shows that Brady had both hands on the ball when it was hit loose. So this question is directed to the head official of that game, have you ever seen a quarterback throw the football with two hands? No, I didn't think so.

JFlyHigh21 3 weeks ago

The Pats still had to make a lot of things happen to get that win after the call.

jessejones14 1 month ago
@jessejones14 There is only one reason that you and everyone else talk about the Patriots cheating for their Superbowl wins. Because they're good. If the Colts were caught cheating this year nobody would ever give it a second thought. It would be completely lost in time after a few weeks. It's purely ignorant to say that the NFL is full of conspiracies.
IBaneSniping 1 month ago
@IBaneSniping i didnt say they werent a talented team the 3 superbowls the won they had a great defence and you cant go wrong with brady at qb but they were lucky with the tuck and they cheated with spy gate p.s i am a colts fan

@jessejones14 I know the tuck rule was a terrible call. But it's not a fixed league. Even under a Refs protection it could still be incredibly hard to win. And I wasn't insulting the Colts. They just fell under the radar without Manning.

Ringnes85 1 month ago
People are saying it was the correct call according to the rule (which is dumb in of itself), but I don't think it is. Brady brought the ball down and put both his hands on the ball which to me signifies securing the ball.

Aturayd 1 month ago
@Aturayd uh I am not a raider fan, but come on man, if that was a fumble the game was over, they don't have to defend anymore. The call gave Brady and Pats another chance, is like a second life.
