  • Jack Germond, 1994: "They want this government to get out of their lives and spend less money."

  • Amazing how bright Gingrich's political future seemed to be at this point in time.

  • What Buchanan said in the beginning sounds eerily similar to what's been said for the past few months about Obama.

  • does John ever smile, or have a sense of humor for that matter, what a grouch, must be from denver

  • @tubedudeT2000

    3:17 - Smile detected.

  • 17 years later, washington has been cleaned up! thank goodness.

  • How young how Barone looks!

  • Dana Carvey SNL The McLaughlin Group, hilarious. WRONG!!!!!

  • Why don't you stay outside it kchauncey, we'll somehow try and make it without you.

  • Cripes, what a nightmare. Makes me glad I was living outside the country when this happened.

  • The 94 Congress gave us buget surpluses. It was George W. Bush that started the spending-spree again. The Republicans need to adhere to a conservative agenda or they will be voted out again.

  • @ipodlsnr I tend to disagree just a bit. While the Congress did balance the budget, they only did it after the economy expanded. When the economy of the 90s went away, so did the budget surpluses.

  • Amazing how eerily familiar this dialogue sounds today. If the Republicans do indeed gain back the House, the question is will they do anything differently than the Democrats? Neither party controlled spending in the 90's.

Will either party control spending in the next 10 years? Probably not.

  • @Patriccio72 Thats what I thought myself.
