The 94 Congress gave us buget surpluses. It was George W. Bush that started the spending-spree again. The Republicans need to adhere to a conservative agenda or they will be voted out again.
@ipodlsnr I tend to disagree just a bit. While the Congress did balance the budget, they only did it after the economy expanded. When the economy of the 90s went away, so did the budget surpluses.
Amazing how eerily familiar this dialogue sounds today. If the Republicans do indeed gain back the House, the question is will they do anything differently than the Democrats? Neither party controlled spending in the 90's.
Will either party control spending in the next 10 years? Probably not.
