In MY opinion I find a lot of people way funnier than George Carlin. He's overrated, I think. He's kind of obnoxious. So, I do think that David Cross is funnier.

David Cross speaks the truth. We need to focus our attention on things that REALLY matter. Not just the things that our government wants to distract us with.
He's not actually telling jokes for 90% of the bit, he's just being preachy and getting the crowd to agree with him. I'm as pro-choice atheist pro-gay rights as they come but he's getting cheap laughs from people who agree with him. I bought "Shut up you fucking baby" and it was two discs of him bitching about shit with little to no punchlines. Arrested Development is funny but it's not helping his stand up act. The side effect of this is his very high percentage to bomb or be heckled.

@ericdolphy7 I love Cross, but I'd argue his volume of material isn't large enough for him to top Carlin, yet at least. Granted, he's not touring as often because he's writing/working on tv and movies, but still, Carlin dwarfs his number of stand up performances.
But I reiterate, love Cross, definitely one of my favorite comedians. And Dr. Tobias Funke is one of the funniest characters that's ever been on tv.

Study what he's saying very carefully. There is a difference between being right and being funny. His jokes are very very simple to set up and not very well executed. The first two jokes he did here are extremely simple, the follow up is just a shock laugh, and the joke after that is him being preachy. He has some fairly clever jokes here but he's not doing anything that gets a huge laugh.

@usulkane but in the case of that mr show sketch the jokes weren't 'fart jokes' in the sense that they weren't about the farts, they were about the stupidity of the character's act and how anybody could do it (hence him getting out-farted by an audience member.) There were subtleties in even that simple sketch that Larry the Cable guy could never approach, and if anything, the point of the sketch underlies the point he makes about "larry".
