  • Whats with the hate? This guys awesome!

  • เจ๋งนะ สนใจอยู่

    That's interesting ...........

  • hey watch my vids for metal alternative sound of this guitar(=

  • @JeffreeJeff your review gave me ear herpes

  • @Coonetta huh you dont like it ?lol

  • I appreciate you taking the time to point out the postives and negatives. It would have been nice to see some great playing to hear the tones but most demos are paid endorsee's and won't tell you anything "real" thanks!

  • Wow, the negativity here smells like shipoopy. Educational reviews are much appreciated. Thanks johnhguitar

  • This guy takes a whole lot of flak for good reviews... Would love to see him play some blues live

  • A PRS without birds on the fretboard is like a woman without boobs :D

  • @johnguitar...the main reason prs guitars wont have the same controls as the gibson guitars is because prs do not want another lawsuit from gibson, accusing prs of copying...

  • which is better this or jackson dxmg

  • Is this the model that goes for around $700?

  • i just got a prs se custom for 350 with case is that a good deal or what

  • I hope he knows that orianthi's custom is like 600 dollars not 4 or 3 thousand.dumbass

  • Hahaha, you're butthurt because people don't like your bad review.

  • I just tried the guitar out and that's what I got. No preparing. I don't plan on seeing these guitars for the first time when I go into a music store, I just happen upon them. It's a first impression thing all the way. Bad music but realistic reveiw under the circumstance I think.

  • @johnhguitar Great review man!

  • @johnhguitar

I agree with vahan99 comment , I think your review is good

Do not mind with suck comment.

I still waiting for your new review : )

  • @ChubbMachine dont say butthurt.

    faggot.

  • @johnguitar : dude you're a dumbass idiot. what a goddamn boring review... stupid ass

  • good review. thank you!

    greetings from germany

  • Yeah but he really didn't share what he thought could have made it good.

It's one thing to disagree and put down and another thing to teach and share the better way. Did he do that? I don't know.

  • @johnhguitar John, the best thing to do is to Disable the comments on your videos, and if anyone has inquires he/she should send you a message, and that's it, you do lot's of effort to give us free reviews and you should only accept constructive criticism and not trolling from people :) Thanks a lot for your efforts man!

  • Awful review. This guy have no idea what is he talking about.

  • Fine! But you should back it up with the reasons you feel this way. Let us know why you think it's a terrible review.

As I said in other reviews, the guitar was handed to me and I gave it a try and said what I said with no bias. Everything I said was there in front of me and if that means I don't know what I'm talking about so be it.

  • @johnhguitar Ok. First of all it is not a copy. SE is budget series of of original PRS guitars for students.

You made couple inaccuracies in specs. You should read it before shoot this video. What did you said about pickups? Zebra pickups. Ok, I see it.. How hot is this pickups? How close it sounds to original PRS or any other recognizable pickps? You talked a lot about obvius. Would be great to hear this guitar on various amp setting clean/crunch/lead.

It wasn't very informative. Not review.

  • Hey listen, I'm tired. why don't you do it. Tell us everything about the guitar without holding back.

  • @johnhguitar Don't be angry. Criticism is inevitable and it helps us become better.

  • OK Yoda.

  • @johnhguitar i'm sorry to mind myself with you guys but actually you yourself (johnguitar) asked him to tell what he thought was bad about your review, so he did, and then you began to get bit angry??

  • How much do they cost

  • Fine. What should we call it?

  • Not trying to be a hater or offend you, but calling tremolo a whammy bar could really confuse people, I mean really, there's a big difference. Let's say I was a beginner and went to a music shop asking for a guitar with a tremolo, because I want to "do all these cool effects'', it could be an ambiguity. As a beginner I wouldn't know that in order to have strings in tune with extreme bending you'd have to have them locked. Despite that, great interview, I like how you reveal the minuses.

  • @YearsBecomeDays

    What a pedantic comment

If anything, calling it a whammy is a lot more logical than tremolo since in musical terms, tremolo refers to either a rapid reiteration of a note or the effect which is a fluctuation in volume.

People have been calling them whammy bars, tremolo arms and vibrato arms for decades, it doesn't matter.

  • I'll take that as a compliment.

  • Why don't they put the other volume and tone control, because that's for the more expensive model. What I don't like about PRS guitars ... the price.

  • ALL Prs SE models, have one tone, and one volume. Its just how it is... Just like how all strats have 2 tone, one volume.

  • hmm, as opposed to commenting on the video, I just want to say that since you recorded this you have improved the sound of your vibrato. Not that it was bad.

  • come onnn, you're not telling us anything we wouldn't know from looking at a picture of it

  • seem to go over the top on a few OBVIOUS things about the guitar, that you can just see from looking at it

also its not a 'copy' its a student edition, its still the same company!!

saying 'copy' makes it sound like an Epiphone Les paul compared to a gibson, not nearly the same. PRS SE Customs are amazing

  • I have an se signlecut trem with the same bridge. Mine is not sharp though :D

  • i played this at guitar center... the guitar is magnificent... stop complaining

  • Dude it's made by korean's , WTF who cares +_+

  • It's not a copy of a PRS. It is a PRS, they produce lower priced PRS guitars in Korea which are obviously manufactured with lower quality.

  • its mainly cause you cant hit anyone over the internet. so people just mouth off. ignorant people. good review. i was looking on one of these on craigslist. thank you.

  • Comment removed

  • I'm the greatest at being me. If anyone out there hates my guts it's no different than being a wrestler. By the way, I don't own any of the guitars in the video.

  • Comment removed

  • @johnhguitar wtf r u talking about bud

  • @johnhguitar hes jealous that you are able to play badass guitars while hes at home doing nothing haha

  • @jackeescav26 i wouldnt even say that

  • Wow! What color is THAT!?!?! I WAN IT

  • i recently purchased a prs mirs maple top in whale blue with the bird inlays. absolutely a fantastic guitar. im looking for a cheaper guitar to throw around a bit. i think this may very well be what ill go for. the neck profile is similar and thats what i find to be the best feature on most prs's, well besides the awesome finishes and tops they have. good demo, by the way.

  • whats the action and playablity like on this? is it like a ibanez rg?

  • AS FAR AS DEATH METAL IS CONCERNED, IF YOU HAVE IT IN YOU, NO GUITAR WILL EVER STOP IT FROM SOUNDING LIKE IT THOUGH YOU MIGHT HAVE TROUBLE WITH CHEAP PICKUPS FEEDING BACK.

  • they have less controls for cheap costs

  • I was wondering this....Can you play death metal on a PRS guitar?

  • Can you play it? If the answer is 'yes' then you can.....

  • @johnhguitar paul allender plays one for cradle of filth

  • @johnhguitar Opeth does, and does it well.

  • @VonHendrixTV Emil from Daath (or Dååth) play death with PRS. And also Michael from Opeth play with PRS, and theyr music can be quite heavy.

  • @VonHendrixTV you can play death metal with any guitar

  • @VonHendrixTV i have a prs. you. can. play. anything on it. it sounds AMAZING for everything

  • @VonHendrixTV Opeth guitarist uses PRS

  • I know I should have elaborated, I like the feel of the tele best but I like a gibson sound better. I mainly play blues and classic rock, but I was really just looking for your opinion of which you liked better, and yes seriously i liked the sound from that roland. I've recently seen a few videos of you playing blues and I'm not sure how i havent heard of you sooner, awesome playing and i like the website and reviews.

  • You like the sound of Jimmy Page on the first Led Zeppelin LP? It's a Tele.

  • @johnhguitar Yes i am aware of that being a big Zep fan. I was leaning toward the tele anyway. I was considering the Prs because I also liked the way it played and it has a whammy bar setup available which would be nice for Srv and Evh tunes. Its tough because I like so many different players and styles, ( Page, Beck, Srv, Evh, larry Carlton, you get the point. I'm sure I will end up with multiple guitars at some point.

  • John, what type of amp are you putting this through? It sound good. Also, I am looking into buying another guitar and I am in between this prs se and a standard Telecaster, what do you think?

  • Seriously? A Roland Cube 30. A Tele verses a PRS? Very different guitars. What can I tell you?

  • Chap, dont move on your stool as if you must go for a pee :-((

  • Now that I work in a guitar shop for a while and I've already played a bunch of Original PRS's (American made) and SE's (Korean made) here's one thing I can say: the difference in price is like 2000 bucks while the difference in sound is NOT that big. If you at one day would want to buy an SE - go for it, for the money it is freacking amazing.

  • This guy really doesnt know much about PRS guitars

  • Nice and polite. Sorry. but your right, I don't really. I idea is to get people to comment and help add to everyone's knowledge.

  • @johnhguitar John, the neck on these guitars a fat right? We have this in the Philippines..not suitable for me, I don't have big hands..hehe

  • i bought a schecter c1 custom over this, u think it was a good choice? the schecter was 700 and this was 650 i think

  • My biggest objection about the PRS SE guitar I own is how low the frets are. Hard to get decent pinch harmonics. Still, for the money it is good quality.

  • no pasa

  • Fender called it "vibrato" on their amps and "tremolo" on the guitars which is completely bass ackwards. Later on they started calling it "tremolo" on the amps but to this day people still refer to the vibrato on guitars as trem.

  • does these guitar stay in tune with minimum whammy bar use?

  • เสียงดีแฮะ

  • Guy!! i've got a doubt that PRS or the Gibson SG?? I Hope response thank you!!

  • @CarlosLennonMCartney id say the prs because of the great build quality and powerful sound.

  • yeah but the strings are bending when the "tremolo" bar is engaged, which doesnt really variate the volume, you are just variating the frequency of the sound

  • So what you're saying is that it's a vibrato bar? Is that what everyone should be calling it?

  • @johnhguitar ideally, it should be called vibrato bar, 'cause that's the effect that it produces (a variation in pitch) but it's been called tremolo bar for so long that we all just keep the tradition alive.

  • I hate it when people call them whammy bars. The correct term is tremolo for god sakes

  • Wow! I've heard of someone being a perfectionist but you've taken it to a new level.

I think I can finally say without a shadow of a doubt I can't take this youtube bullshit seriously anymore. Congratulations for curing me. You've taken the word hate to a whole new level. I suppose you want to have a fist fight over it? Thousands of guitarists out there call it a whammy bar. What are you going to do about it?

  • @johnhguitar I'm just saying that whammy bar sounds like something a dumbass guitarist would call it (not sayin you are, your playing is quite good) but it just sounds absolutely idiotic to me. tremolo just sounds more clean

  • @johnhguitar Dude, you are so right, this fucking youtube bullshit. For god sake, LETS ALL JUST SHIT THE FUCK UP, about the most unimportant things in life at the comment section on youtube, because it's a way to be most annoying person on earth. And yes, my message in this comment is vague..

  • @johnhguitar ITS A MUTHA FUKIN TREMOLO

  • @johnhguitar So i dont know about many other people but i enjoyed this, and if anybody other then john himself comments on this comment with so called "hate-mail" i will personally make a video and take your youtube name and make a hate video about he/she. But anyway thank you john for making a fine review about the guitar. your guitar friend, patrick

  • @johnhguitar Just delete the dickheads and enjoy the tube.... :)

  • Tremolo in musical terms means quickly going back and forth alternating the variance in volume. In the eighties the term whammy was used by the dive bombing guitarists of the day. Here at the ol' Guitar Shoppe we call it a wobble stick. Sorry, I'm just having a go at cha. I don't know. Call me Whammy Stammy.

  • @johnhguitar Now see for some reason wobble stick sounds funny to me, and funny in the way that I would actually call it that

  • @mountainboarder101 the "correct" term is VIBRATO... dumbass

  • @mountainboarder101 ... are you braindead? Tremolo is a musical term for volume going up & down (go google tremolo pedals). It's proper name is a Vibrato arm. Whammy is totally acceptable though too as have you ever heard of a Digitech Whammy pedal? Its an effect that moves the pitch up and down.

ITS NOT CALLED A TREM or TREMOLO BAR! YOU'RE ALL STUPID

  • @mountainboarder101 get a life!

  • @mountainboarder101

and by the way, its not tremolo; its tremolo arm

    asshole

  • @royalknight2 Did you really reply to a comment i made 7 months ago?

  • @mountainboarder101

Of course, just to revive that idiotic comment of yours =)

    You're welcome!

  • WHAT IS MEAN"S CUSTOM TREMOLO ? I just need Answer

  • you got a nice PRS guitar, love this modell !

but i got btw a question : would you recommend me this PRS guitar, that I would't have bought it for nothing

    please answer back =)

  • @GetRockMusic I've never said this is a bad guitar don't get it. If I were involved with the company and had something to say about the final result I'd would make some minor changes to give it a more finished feel and that's mainly just to my liking. Others may like it as is just fine.

  • hey can you help me iam really thinking of buying this guitar because i play a bit of everything and also i was gonna buy a cube 80x or 60x i was just wondering are these two a good combination

  • Please Stop comparing theese guitars to Gibsons!! prs have there own tone and they sound great. The pickup blending thing is what Gibson do not evan custom 24s do that

I usually like your vids so sorry but these guitar are differant to gibsons in evary way

    Sorry:(!!

  • @jaxeplayer What else can we do to give people a comparison?

  • @johnhguitar relate it to a blend of Fender and Gibson don't compare it to anything, similarities and differences in tone/playability

  • should i get this one or the schecter hellraiser c-1?

I want a very versatile guitar, because i want to play from blues to metal :D

Correct me if im wrong, but i think that for blues and soft rock the prs will be a little better, but for metal distortion the schecter with the emg81tw (coil tap) will be better.. :S

    please help me

  • @orlandosoplon77 The Schecter Hellraiser C-1 is probably even more versatile, in terms of sound. It's probably got the warmest EMGs on the market, they're coil tapped, so that's good.

But the great thing is, it's the first guitar I've seen with EMGs that can handle cleans.

The PRS is known mainly for creamy tones, if that's you're thing.

  • @orlandosoplon77 get a hofner verythin. they cost as much as and se, and they are semi-hollow. those things can SHRED. i have one, and i play blues to jazz to metal on it. great guitar

  • Review moves too slow. Work on your delivery and make it more to the point!

  • I wish it had a carved top...

  • hello john, great review. cheers!

  • i am sooo gonna buy this guitar here in the philippines, cause its 40% discount until May.

  • good honest review...thanks

  • sorry i really dig the guitars and your opinion but the fact that you dont use pick and use a 150$ dlr amp to show 2000$ guitars is a crime.

  • I am so depressed after watching this..

  • lol

  • I suggest filing down the sharp pieces on the bridge. Or maybe try the version with the wraparound?

  • @johnhguitar LOL Nice reply. Great review as always.

  • In all fairness, I guess the washing cars remark was a bit much. So I apologize for that.

  • Besides that, you have posted a product review on an open forum, and are now upset because of my opinion about YOUR opinion? You would rather I didn't print anything? Exactly how does that figure in your idea of "American". Thanks for listening!

  • No no listen your right. I'm tired of talking about guitars and it shows in these reviews. I'd like to think of myself as a player but when you're not gigging you have to do something to make money; teach, sell instruments, at least something music related. People don't deserve to hear someone's unenthusiastic comments about equipment that might be ideal for them. You're doing me a favor by kicking me around a bit. I didn't see it at first but now that I've settled down I'm beginning to hear U.

  • @johnhguitar You can write all the books you want. I have two terms at Berklee, does that count? Futhermore, I am in the Navy and have been for 16 years plus. I will say it again, if you are not into it, don't post a video. A product review should be almost neutral, and devoid of opinions to a point. But please, don't insult me by throwing your son's Air Force career in my face, nor your published music books.

  • Sorry but I have to play the guitar because it's all I know how to do. I can't wash cars because I'm a little too old for that. Sorry if you didn't like my review; they brought the guitar to me from the Guitar Center and I'd never played one before. I thought I was giving an unbiased opinion but maybe your right. I should stick to playing instruments and shut up.

  • Wow he's not exactly enthusiastic

  • aww no trem arm?

  • i am trading a dean shadow dime xl for this.... is this a good trade? ( both in good codition)

  • Concering your dislikes: The reason it only has one tone and one volume is because in the middle pickup selection it has to go through twice as many potentiometers which sucks tone. They bypassed that by using this method.

  • that is one ugly colour!

  • @nickstur i like it

  • Well I own one of these, but I tuned it into a dropped B tuning and play Death Metal on it. It sounds pretty brutal, but what I love about it is that when I switch off my (fairly heavy) distortion, it doesn't have this squealy sound Ibanez and Jackson, for instance have. You can play pretty much anything on this!

  • Hi. I think about buy this guitar, because USA Custom 24 is for me still expensive. Is PRS Custom SE model good guitar? Cort M 900 is PRS body too, but it has push pull switcher to make from humbucker to single pick up and it can be good positive in clean sound, it has piezo pick up too. Which guitar is better? And I am still thinking abou Fender Stratocaster MiM. Is MiM better than PRS SE model? I don´t know, which guitar I will buy. Thanks.

Sorry for my bad english, I wrote fast.

    Vlado

  • Anyone ever notice how he looks so much like UFC fighter Gray Maynard???

  • Yeah. I can see myself beating the crap out of the guitar!

  • You get what you pay for. Don't buy one of these and expect it to sound like a true PRS. I bought one of the SE models when they first came out. No better than your average $500 guitar. I just bought a used PRS CE22 on craigslist for $850 and man it is sweet. It was the cheapest american made guitar they made, a bolt on, and it is smooth, stable and resonant and the pickups have a lot of different souds in them. Save your money and buy a used amercan PRS!!

  • do you think this prs is more versatile than a mexi-strat? i need something that can go from jazz to flamenco to rock

  • You have to check it out yourself dude! You decide!

  • dear john

    Xlent presentation

i have one prs se custom 24 and a parker P44 i find that the PRS has a more warmer sound or a low sound i dont know if this is for the type of the wood or the shape

    thanks

    panama, rep of panama

  • You should try out a PRS Mccarty or a PRS Hollowbody ii. There both great Jazz/Rock guitars. The Mccarty can go from a strat to a Les paul in a few clicks. And there both definatly higher quality, there line guitars are all handmade and might as well be a Fender or Gibson custom shop. By the way LOVE your videos I also picked up one of the roland amps! Keep making these vids I love them!

  • OK I'll have a look the next time I'm at a dealer..Thanks, John

  • i notice u also have an gibson sg, how do these compare?

  • Not really too similar. I think the PRS is a more hefty guitar but the SG with the right pickups is popular. Since I have never owned a PRS I don't much about them except for the impression of trying this one out.

    Thanks for your interest.

  • Nice guitar choice! But if you do alot of bending then you'll need to replace the frets.

  • @ibanezman007 Replace the frets you say...

    Idiot.

  • Whats wrong with the 6th strin (E)

  • I played one of these, a friend of mine had a friend of his who was traveling and he brought some of his guitars. A Mexican Telecaster and this thing. I don't think it's worthy of being called a PRS. The tremolo worked so bad out of the box he blocked it off, the frets buzzed even though the action wasn't really that low. The pickups weak and thin. It overall felt like a child's Guitar. He said he liked it for the price though... compared to an American PRS, this thing is pretty bad... IMHO.

  • how is the tremolo on this guitar? does it stay in tune well?

  • I bought an SE custom about 6 months ago now?

I have to say I really wasn't sure to begin with but.... I messed around with my effects to find a tone I loved then lowered the bridge, adjusted the neck and added some Grover Locking Tuners and it's now my favorite guitar I own.

Beware when buying one,you WILL need locking tuners or you'll have constant pain in the arse tuning problems. The pickup switch is not completely flawless and fails 1 time out of 50 perhaps.

    Bending is awesome though

  • Thanks for the review. I know these are very different, but between this, and the Ibanez Artcore AS73, which one would you choose? Probably can't go wrong with either one, but I'd be interested to hear your opinion.

  • I don't think my opinion has much weight after the comments I've received about this review. They are both good companies and you will be able to tell yourself which is the one you prefer if you get to check them out before you buy one.

  • best guitar for the price!

  • PRS SE's have to be the best foreign made budget guitars. I still want a PRS Starla though, now if I can just round up two grand.

  • i bought this 2 day for my bday and it's great sounds and feels nice.

  • Then apparently you are tone deaf, might want to have that checked out lol

  • Um, your guitar playing license is here by revoked!

  • I think the SE Singlecut sounds and looks much better for 100 bucks more

  • PRS are made for more explosive gain sounds imo

  • Yeah, I didn't think of that when I played it. I was in a blues mood and that's that. Sorry

  • PRS sounds great for lots of stuff. The guy in my school jazz band plays this thing, it works great for that.

  • not true .. their completely universal.. their made for what ever you want to play on it .. ask santana about it ... or johny hiland

  • sounds almost exactly like my ibanez rg2 and its $300 more expensive

  • lol @ 4:34

  • does this coul tap with a push/pull tone knob cause i looked online at guitar center and it says it does, never knew that, any help?

  • Is that green?

  • "blue matteo" per the invoice.

    -jc

  • I have one of these, I really like it. I have a Fender Tele and honestly I can say that I prefer this. My bridge isn't particularly sharp, I don't know why that.
