This Bart Ehrman guy is a deceiver under the guise of an 'academic'! Deceit no.1: "what we have are copies of these books (gospels), which in many cases, IN MOST cases were made many centuries later"! - in the first deceit he makes a sweeping generalisation that is supposed to make us presume that the gospels are unreliable! This is NOT the case....
appealing to possibility rather than common sense re: the orthodoxy that was established at the time of Jesus. Erhman's whole approach ignores the raw tonnage of non-canonized scriptures which corroborate the canon (whether Trent
or Carthage or Jamnia). It doesn't matter. Erhman misses a common sense approach to history with his inductions and bias which causes false inductions.I can look at the same data in textual criticism and agree to the identifiable errors BUT disagree w/ his conclusions
Continued here: Something most christians do because they're afraid they'll lose their security blanked, their faith in jesus! I like Dr. Ehrman REFUSE to push truth away no matter what the end result!
@7archers You don't listen very well then! He clearly stated that he had a "true experience!" For you that may be all that your faith equals, but for many people reason/logic/critical thinking are a valid part of their cognitive faculties unless of course one intentionally(or sometimes unintentionally)BLOCKS that area leaving only emotion/experience/faith to work! Dr. Ehrman decided NOT to block critical thinking/logic/reason and it took him down the path of "discovering truth!" CONTINUED:
Truly, the religion with Allah is Islam. Those who were given the Scripture (Jews and Christians) did not differ except, out of mutual jealousy, after knowledge had come to them. And whoever disbelievesin the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, signs, revelations, etc.) of Allah, then surely, Allah is Swift in calling to account.
Sounds like he had the exact same doubts and concerns I had - the blatant errors and inconsistencies in the Bible, questions about the divinity of Jesus, and so on. Fortunately though, just as I gave up Christianity, I picked up a Quran. I found it so simple, so logical, so powerful from the very first verses. It was as if it had been written with people like me in mind... I converted a few months later, praise God.
I am a Muslim, i owe all non Muslims a message of truth:
there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah and Mohammad is his last prophet and messenger and Jesus is Allah's prophet, his messenger, his word to the virgin Mariam an a spirit from the almighty Allah, may peace, blessings and prayers be on all of them.
If the bible is proven not to be Divine, then it's your obligation to look else where about the true message of the Messiah son of Mariam, search in the holy Quran, you will be guided.

The Bible has many contradictions. Bart Ehrman is not the only Bible Scholar to come out and admit it.

@7archers Exactly! He was a Christian with a thought process. Pretty innovative, huh?

'Ehrman' is a Jewish surname. That, combined with Prof. Ehrman's appearance, would lead one to believe that he was born a Jew.
In matters of Christianity, I would find it hard to take this professor seriously.
