sorry to say but black dahlia murder is a deathcore band starting with miasma wat everyone fails to realize is that its the drummer does break beats (especially on nocturnal).its because he likes rap 2. if u want proof watch majesty
@xwarlockx69 They USED to be deathcore, Miasma is when that ended, they completely dropped their deathcore style of writing. No breakdowns, no cheesy rhythms, all intensity. Maybe the drums still have a deathcore style, but that doesn't make them deathcore
@WhitexAbyss ha! they were NEVER death core... This is clearly melodic death metal influence. People call them At the Gates v2.0 for a reason. you kids don't know your shit
The new guitarist is pretty sic, check my vids 4 sum mo metal, keep it brutal guys(we play this song all the time in pract. 4 shits and giggles)-brad btv
I like BDM, im gonna see them live next month, but im sure there gonna be fucking Emo Cocksuckers, but that's ok, im gonna get into the pit and break their fucking noses. until they bleed out all their fucking emo, deathcore gayness.
Hahaha I am so over arguing genres with you lame fucks. I sincerely hope that one day, you learn to open up your mind a bit. It'll make life easier- I promise.
They arent any were near core at all. Sure the really really old shit before unhallowed was deathcore in the plainest of forms, but they have always been in my mind a straight forward death metal band.
Dude, the material on Miasma was way more "deathcore" influenced. Eschbach said it himself. He was experimenting with the band's sound, and since he wrote all the material for the band starting with that record [minus the solos], it comes through. Not giving you shit. Just stating a fact.
Ok I see were you are coming from. And looking back on it, Miasma had definte core in it (not that there is anything wrong with that). I never though of them as a deathcore band though.
Chill the fuck out, man. What does it matter to you what I personally label the album as?
If you disagree, awesome. That's YOUR opinion. Keep in mind that the ACTUAL definition of "deathcore" is death metal with elements of hardcore thrown into the mix. It's not like I said BDM sucks, or that they sound like Suicide Silence. I just said that this album is more "deathcore" sounding than Unhallowed or Nocturnal were.
Right, do you even know what hardcore is ? Because 3 those songs are death metal with NO elements of hardcore thrown in. As a fan of both hardcore and death metal it just annoys the shit out of me when people have no idea which is which.
Listen, douchebag- hardcore is a faster, more aggressive kind of punk rock. The fact that Miasma has moments that don't sound "death" means that [in the purest sense of the word] SOME OF THE MUSIC CAN BE REFERRED TO AS "DEATHCORE" INFLUENCED.
Do yourself a favor: realize that genres can be separated into waves. The first wave of deathcore can be seen in bands like Glass Casket and Dying Fetus. The second wave, which you clearly hate, is where bands like Whitechapel or Oceano came into play.
@logftwmetal- unhallowed wasnt deathcore at all. It was melodic death metal in its "plainest" forms. They were heavily influenced by at the gates. since then they have slowly modernized melodic death metal and made it more aggressive. The only reason people like to argue about the CORE element is because they have made a lot of fans who listened to HARDCORE. Trevor has even given up arguing about his band lol.
yep been a fan for over 3 years now nd ive heard them progress they always tended to give me the carcass guitar sound idk if its just me but i deffinetly hear it
well black dahlia murder has always had some core in them, but not nearly as much as some other bands. i do agree with you though, this is by far their best album, and most death metal-ish one. you can especially hear the death metal influence in certain select songs, such as this one, and apex (the main riff of that one is INCREDIBLY inspired by at the gates. you can tell). i do agree that they are getting a little more "core" with each album. if they could go back to this, i would love it :)
to me it sounds a bit like a demo recording. and i do know what you mean. the recording on the album is simply cleaner. this is probably an early recording
Nocturnal is not deathcore, im not trying to start shit but i am a fucking devout black dahlia fan, and i fucking hate deathcore its nothing but meaningless breakdowns and single chord ggrab bags. Black dahlia still has structure and function not just a mish mash of pig squals and double kicks. Theres rythym here, theres meaning behind the lyrics deathcore is fucking garbage.
lionOFjudah, those lyrics are paraphrased from H.P. Lovecraft's story "The Call of Cthulhu". There's also a direct quote lifted from the story used in the song.
first of all Zach was kicked out because they found out that he was going to leave so they wanted to beat him to the punch and second john has wanted to leave since nocturnal and trevor said that john wouldnt even write solos any more they would bave to basicly tell him what to play
For all the The Black Dahlia Murder fans that see this video, I am very sad to say that John K has left The Black Dahlia Murder. I just found out about it and it's shocking and such terrible news, he unexpectedly just quit during the tour and refuses to finish it so their going on as a 4 piece to finish the tour. It's greatly dissapointing that such a great guitarist left but at least they have the will to continue the tour.
second comment. on this vid. thank you for uploading it, by far the greatest lyrical song by the murder, a strong competetor to my second fav. band jfac (job for a cowboy)
True, I don't see why everyone says Miasma's lyrics we're darker. Unhallowed's lyrics are sooooo much darker, this song shows it well enough, along with Funeral Thirst and Contagion. Well glad to see there are people who still listen to good music
Who gives a fuk what type of metal this is. All you need to know is that it's fuking bad ass and this band molests peoples ears

They aren't core at all, really. They haven't even touched breakdowns at all. Breakdowns are really what make -core groups.

Also, for the record, I prefer their older stuff. But their new stuff certainly isn't bad.

The Black Dahlia Murder isn't gonna go completely "core". Besides, they still kick ass with every album. :)
