  • @annuna, no. I still couldn't fix the issues with cloud shadows. :(

    But I don't think it would be significantly harder than animated grass. It is a possible feature.

    We are trying to keep it that way. Trust me, you won't believe your eyes. Check new water renderings of MGE. Latest MGE beta revision is available at sourceforge.

    Are you aware of the MGE XE project? I will incorporate it in MGE XE when it's finished. It has the "time" variable I was waiting for. Maybe Hrnchamd can include it too. It is only one line of code. :)

    Well, I ditched the idea of using existed cloud textures and will provide a procedural one, although you can still use the texture from all sky mods. But I can not guarantee the quality of those textures.

    PS. If fixed the blending issues mostly, it is exactly how I want it now. You won't notice it, but it will be there. It is when you don't use it, you will notice what's missing! :) The empty cell problems though and water interaction still needs work and might exceed my skills.

  • Just wanted to clear, when I said "quality" above, I didn't mean artistic quality... ;) Shadow map *quality* suffers from low resolution while going higher resolution would bring a performance hit. A good compromise is using a special low resolution procedural one which would not show many artifacts. I meant as a shadow map, which those texture mods aren't meant for. It is a technical issue. I apologize for any misunderstanding.

  • @vtastek Did you help make this mod cause its amazing. Also if you did, would you ever consider making a multiplayer mod. Vanilla multiplayer so that if one player does a quest no one else can. I heard it was impossible to do this but its worth a shot.

  • @M167641 I made this myself but it isn't finished yet. (too many problems for me to solve) You should check MGE XE project, it has static shadows now and maybe it will have cloud shadows later. For your multiplayer request, check "project aedra".

    I meant I fixed them. Fog now applies correctly but empty cells are still there. It would be better if devs add it natively to water shader, because the color needs to be multiplied with water colors.

    That. It is an empty cell in Morrowind. MGE doesn't create empty cells(for performance?) so it doesn't have depth-position data hence no shadow casting. I have to figure it out too with fog masking.

    It is MGE and they are kind of fake. As long as we don't do volumetric clouds, real thing is not needed anyway. :)

    I am a little sidetracked by other things(since last 23th). There is one thing missing, the scroll speed control. When the variable I was waiting for added, I can finished it.

  • Personally, I absolutely LOVE the shadows on the distant mountains. It looks like fog is swirling through the deep valleys... Like a Chinese painting. Beautiful.

  • I think I encountered another Youtube bug. It doesn't show up in searches. I may have to reupload this.

  • You have to wait a bit of time before it'll show up in searches.

  • Finally, it showed up. But look at the related videos, they are not related at all except 3 of them. I think it has to do with the raw file name.

  • Looks good. I was going to say the cloud shadows themselves seemed a bit too high-frequency, but maybe that's just a product of how high up the camera is. Out of curiosity, do you handle this before, during or after fogging?

  • I pushed the fog far away. Shadows wasn't taking fog into account. I will fix it too.

  • @vtastek Sounds good. You can probably bake this into the fog pass and save a lot of fillrate.

  • Actually this is the slowest I can get it to work. 'tickcounts' variable doesn't work as intended for me.

    BTW, shadows are not random, they are from your sky texture, SWG. :)
