  • i really loved this movie (=^_^=)

  • today i watched mononoke hime on tv

  • 最高です

  • I'm so glad I found this it shows how hard work and sticking to your and never giving up pays off in the end.

  • This is why I will heart 2D animation forever! 2D animators work harder and way more passionate rather than 3D's which more or less just relies on the computer too much.

  • Miyazaki is my hero

  • Miyazaki > Walt Disney

  • この人物だからこそ言葉の重みがありますね

    何度か見返したくなります

  • i think CG animation is cool every once in a while, but it is annoying when EVERY movie is CG. they need to make both CG and 2D films...

  • @MoxieLiveAction I KNOW!!!! I AGREE!

  • 「もののけ」とジブリは

    日本の宝です

  • I think Ghibli films are some of the best animated films ever. They have good songs as well

  • think about how long it would of took if "Avatar" was made thro these methods

  • This movie captured my attention and simply forcing me to watch it again.

  • what is the music in the background 3:24?

  • @ristaru search for パリは燃えているか Translated it means 'Is Paris Burning?'

  • @misericordiamihi thank you so much :D such a beautiful song <3

  • I think the BEST Miyazaki movies are the ones that he creates the story, the characters, the concept... all on his own. Ponyo's idea was borrowed from Little Mermaid. Howl's Moving Castle was a book. This is just my opinion, but I think Princess Mononoke is the apex of all Ghibli movies.

  • Thanks for uploading this!

Do you know where I could get a high-quality version of this? I'm an animator and a film student, so I'd love to be able to study this.

  • can't believe how long this thing is...must be much longer than the movie itself lol

  • The best film I can remember from my childhood *___*

  • Yo u sped all that time. Get backstAge. Were the movie . I won't the movie

  • If it's Miyazaki, I don't care if its CGI or 2D hand drawn. Everything he does is beautiful. But I don't think the computer can match up and successfully create the movie that he wants. His imagination is too big. It's better if he just makes every bit of thise beautiful ideas himself by hand.

  • 宮さぁぁぁぁぁぁん!!!!

  • Personally, I don't care what the movie looks like. All that matters to me is the story of the movie. Who cares if there's CGI or if it's hand drawn purely? If the story sucked it wouldn't matter.

  • I just can't stand the fact that 3d computer animation has to be the next thing....i just, can't accept it...the technique, the years of training, look at what CGI made at the Ghost in the shell 2 innonce, pure crap, solid state society was the best one ever.

  • well at least it's a whole new idea to go to movie house. But cameron's avatar concept though in 3d is also a piracy from miyazaki's movie. :) so if the story is pirated who cares if it's 3d?

  • @driojas Exactly. To further prove your point: there's a comic out there where some guy is trying to promote a movie he wants to make to the big guns. He says that he has no idea what he wants to do with it (meaning it will be crap), and nobody is impressed. However, once he says that it will be in 3D, they brighten up and say that it'll make a great movie. What a joke.

  • @driojas Damn Straight

  • @driojas

Yeah, because movies like "up", "toy story 3", "how to train your dragon" and "the incredibles" are utter crap, am i right?

  • @driojas As an animator I believe that both mediums can exist in harmony to further the quality of the craft. Miyazaki himself has utilized 3D in his films, but lightly and only to enhance his brilliant hand-drawn work. It saddens me to see waves of 3D films of poor quality that were made only to take advantage of the market and milk the public, but there are amazing pieces of art and storytelling done in 3D. I hope to see traditional work continue to prosper and 3D work continue to improve.

  • @driojas

lol yeah good point besides gits2 is like the worst example ever since it was brilliant ^^

  • Question about the subs, are they yours or from the UK release?

    Thanks so much!

  • being animator looks hard. i wonder how we do it in the U.S

  • The truth is it's all done digitally these days the only use for drawings is to build a base foundation of a character design even then usually photoshoping is done. Unfortunatley thats one step closer to replacing art with machine. There is almost no use for art in terms of market if it isn't digital.

  • But that's why Miyazaki's work is so well-loved and respected. In an age where CG and 3D computer art dominates, Hayao Miyazaki's work is still considered golden. Of course his movies are about 1% computer generated, but everything is done by hand, and people can still appreciate it fully despite CGI.

  • Howl's Moving Castle marked the last film for Studio Ghibli to use complete digital overlays of all hand-drawn animation. Ponyo returns to the completely hand-drawn, manually-colored cels of traditional animation.

  • i thought ponyo by the cover looked to childish for me too but when i saw the commercial i thought ,wow that seems really cool. so i saw it and it turned out awesome and ponyo is the cootest anime character for me now lol...

  • wait a second though isnt the color on ponyo digital, I know its all animated by hand but isn't it scanned into the comp. and digital colored and maped out by hand.

  • With lots of computers. We whimp out. :D

  • when i bcum and animator ill change all that ill b cum a great animator

  • Remember, it's not about the process, it's about the rules of cinema. I'm pretty sure someone wrote about them someplace...

  • Good for you!

  • Hey guys just uploaded princess mononoke in full its in english and has great quality check my profile if you want to watch it.

  • Hayao Miyazaki seems so grandfatherly to me. He's full of wisdom that he passes on through his movies to the audience. He's a genius and probably even could be better than Walt Disney.^^ (Just my opinion, though.)

  • Definently better than Walt disney. Comes up with his own material.

  • i think so two

  • He's Better than Walt Disney in every way for one he isn't a raging white supremacist who hates every other kind of person. He also comes up with his own material. Plus he doesn't insult other races of people with his cartoons every chance he gets.

  • he is a raciest?! when??? quote

  • Yes Walt Disney is Racist and hated everyone who wasn't white It however was unconfirmed if he was a KKK member. Also, They had to make things like pochahontas after his death. If Disney had existed today we wouldn't have Kingdom Hearts. I doubt he would make deals with japan and include his "favorite" Characers in a japanese game.

  • can i have some sources on that if you have any? thanks cus wiki certainly doesnt mention anything like that

  • and you get your base your ideas off of what exactly?

  • The most beautiful and amazing movie!!!

  • I don't know who you are, but I love you for uploading this. You are awesome. Thank you. Thank you. Thanks. Really.

  • thanks for this upload, it's a real education into

the hard work and dedication that's needed to

make classic animation, this is for the real 2-D animators that are struggling on and not giving up !

  • OMG I wanna work in Studios Ghibli someday =)

  • thanks abunch for uploading! Love the movie!

  • Thank you for subbing and uploading this documentary.

  • Cool!

  • His beard is badass!

  • omg can u imagine how much work there is to make such a movie ...most of it hand drawn....amazing

  • @the05pimp when miyazaki was younger he would check every single frame!

  • simplemente gracias Miyazaki

  • Hey... excelent material, thank you so much, really this is great!!!

  • I really love Miyazaki's films! Mononoke is my absolute favourite, such a masterpiece!

  • Thankyou very much for uploading and subbing this, me and my sister have been enjoying it greatly. Isnt Miyazaki adorable? :3

  • Do you plan to upload the whole video somewhere it can be easily downloaded, once you finish subbing? I always thought of buying this, but the lack of english subs always stopped me from doing it...

  • hmm, unfortunately I don't think I'll upload these videos anywhwere else, but I do think you could easily find a free downloader that allows you to download your favorite youtube videos...good luck

  • I know how to download these clips, and even how to join them together.

What I was hoping for was a higher resolution version, possibly with "soft" subtitles so that I could insert them on the unsubbed original DVD i'd like to buy.

  • opensubtitles (dot) com

search-> Princess Mononoke: Making of (2004)

    .SRT soft subs...

Didn't know someone made soft subs for this, I own the DVD and there were a few parts I didn't understand. Glad I found this youtube vid!
