Has nothing to do with anger. He opens his mouth to cool down because the sun heats him up. If he's angry he would puff up his body as well, blacken his beard, stand high on his legs and his really loud.

@internetbomber Correct. He wasn't angry. He was basking (Absorbing the heat of the sun). My lizard used to do that. The way you could tell that your bearded dragon is angry, is it's beard. If it's turning black, it's angry, annoyed or uncomfortable. And I didn't see any black. So, yeah. ^_^

Very cute! Not all dragons do this. My baby tends to turn black and hide while my sisters little boy will gladly try to run off and be free. If you have a lot of large birds flying around bearded dragons will associate outside with danger. :)

Isn't it because the lizards way of cooling down is to open its mouth, like a dog pants. So when it goes into the sun it prepares to cool down, and out of the sun it doesn't need to cool down.

@Indie9999 It doesn't happen that quick and it's not on demand, after basking for a long time (over 100+ degree temperature) they will gap. Plus you can tell he was mad because in the beginning his beard almost turned black.
