Kudos to this conductor---he put the music FIRST and didnt make it a "Speed contest" like most conductors do!! IMO,I think if Mozart had known that people would butcher his music with insanely fast tempos like they usually do,he would've never used the heading "Presto".
Remember with Mozart the music always came first---the tempo has to serve the music, not the other way around.
@inviniveritas I disagree---I know its marked presto, but to me it sounds better at this speed. Most versions I hear of this piece sound far too frantic and nervous.
a movement foreseeing the majestry of the finale of the Jupiter... Absolutely masterfull in its contrapuntal writing and momentum (not fully realised at this recording, altough details are fully repersented.)
@bartholomew313 I totally agree. After 220 years we are still listening and talking about Mozart's music. i would like to ask who will remember some of the "musics" of our days in only a couple of years in the future?

Fantastic rendition by Wiener and Bohm. This is the Mozartian Presto. Not other scurried versions one finds in other recordings.

boring. So sad a whole orchestra can play their instruments so well but not understand the harmonic progression and musicality of this piece...

@Alvaroclassic95 I am happy for you, if that kind of musicality is enough for your taste.

I think that this is NOT one of his best symphonies... sorry.

One of the most beautiful symphonies. According to Marcel Brion, on this work Mozart anticipated Beethoven´s Pastoral symphony.
