I didnt see a radio collar on the kitty. How are you able to track it and make sure its ok? I watched the release a few times and couldnt see a collar in any the angles.
Hi, we don't fit any radio collars to the bobcats we release, we do however go back to the release site every month and check the camera traps out there and have documented bobcats we have released one year later!
that ish so beautiful. oh my gawd im gonna cry!! yew guys rule! yew are doing the world so much gewd in helping these big cats. yew guys are the best. this ish wat the world needs these days. people just tew dew one little gewd thing. it makes the world of differance. keep up the greatness guys<3
That is a really wonderful thing...thank you for aiding the little bobcat. Man, he really ran like hell! I'm a wildlife rehabber in IN, and that reminds me of the 6 baby coyotes...they didn't want me around them at all!
Doblosky19, the staff very carefully selected the area he would be released. They made sure it wasn't already another bobcat's territory. They made sure it was far enough from humans. They made sure there was enough of a prey base. Then upon periodically tracking him after his release they were able to see he was doing well.
Doblosky19, months of hiking and research went into choosing the purr-fect release location. A lot of follow-up tracking was done as well to check on his progress.
Oh;how i wish i was working with you guys;the love and compassion that you have for these animals is a privilege to see..she looked so happy running around free;love your van.
There is a link on the website that thanks the company who donated the photo wrap on the van and it also has several over photos of the various sides and angles of the van. What a blessing this has been. People notice it; it is super advertisement.
cattyCatRanch, the staff monitored him very carefully to make sure he had the skills and abilities he needed to survive. So far he seems to be doing quite well.
CattyCatRanch, THANK YOU for your kind comments. I must add, once you come here you never will be the same again. The cats are hard to forget. I started volunteering at big cat Rescue in July 2004 and it has completely changed who I am. Big Cat Rescue, the mission and the cats here have changed my whole world. It is truly my favorite place in the world.
CattyCatRanch, the staff spent a lot of time finding the right place, they studied the prey base, the other wildlife, and every other aspect of the location before deciding where to release him. He has the best chance possible.
Rakshamg, have you been following the series on our channel about Hope the Bobcat? She is hopefully going to have the same freedom that was given to Chance. If you need a direct link to find Hope, the Bobcat Episodes let me know. TOGETHER we can all help Hope realize the same freedom.
Rakshamg, HURRAY!! The next episode about little Hope's progress will be out very soon. You are going to be able to watch little Hope progress and grow all the way up through her day being set free just as Chance was. So stay tuned.
I bet that moment made all of your hard work so worthwhile. It must be great to be able to work with an animal then put him back into his natural environment
bobcats usually leave pets alone.and if they do attack a pet they dont eat them.(attack mostly when pets bother them or wander off into their territory)
KevBro321Gone, the staff and volunteers did a lot of research before picking a place to release him at. I think the pets will be safe. THANK YOU for watching and posting a comment! Please come back and chat with us on here.
yeah he was sat in that box smellin the free air thinking soon as the door opens im off, see when he got in the bush he ;aughed and said ha shit humans
Wonderful moment! I know all worked long and hard to make this possible. Do you wonder if by seeing this type of video, that those foolish people with "exotic pets" that they no longer want or can adequately care for, will leap to the assumption that they too can release their animals to the wild, even if these animals are unable to fend for themselves or are released in inappropriate places? Please understand I know this is not your intent! I admire your work, passion and dedication!
Pfloydddd, hmmm very good thought. Maybe we should do another video. By the way, did you know that in I think 2005 a man in Arkansas actually turned his 400 pound "pet" tiger loose 50 miles from his home in the woods near Harrision, Arkansas. Five days later she turned up on his door step. THAT is a fact. Some people are truly clueless! Can you imagine living in the country on a farm and walking to the mailbox and coming face to face with a 400 pound hungry tiger that isn't afraid of humans?
NOTE to everyone watching this video: The first three people that can surf our main website and find the page about Faith the bobcat that was released and tracked and send that link to me in a private message will get a free greeting card mailed to them. The greeting card will have a 5"x7" color photo of one of the cats here on the front of it.
I love cats of all kinds, and seeing ones that've suffered in the hands of bad people getting help from ppl like you, and then finally getting the chance to return to the wild. To the animal in question, it may as well be paradise. Keep up the great work taking care of neglected cats and in due time, I'll be sure to make a few donations to your organization due to what you guys stand for. Run wild and forever more free Chance!!
ExtermCentral, THANK YOU for you comments! It is sad what humans do to animals. Hopefully if Haley's Act becomes law it will cut down the number of wild animals suffering at the hands of humans. If you would like a free postcard with a color photo of one of the cats, send me a private message with a mailing address and I'll send you one. Do NOT put your address in a video comment! We do NOT share the addresses with anyone else, EVER!
jstWantU2NoMe69, THANK YOU for your wonderful comment. I am sure there will be plenty of tracking. Watch for an update video and check our main website for updates. A previous bobcat that was returned to the wild was one named Faith. If you check our main website you will find a log of the tracking that was done. It was a very successful release.
Freedom! Run like the wind lovely Chance. Thank you for sharing this....(sniff, sobbing... tears falling) Love to all of you for this beautiful cause.
SnaggleToofsKitty, first of all, your YouTube name is really cute. Tears of joy, we all share share them with you. I close my eyes and try to imagine what thoughts must be racing through Chance's mind and what feelings must be flooding over him and sniff sniff the tears well up here, too. THANK YOU for caring!
quality over quantity. I'm sure Chance would prefer 1 day of freedom over 20 yrs in cage longing for freedom. I'm glad BCR was able to give him a chance at a normal life, living wild and free as he should be.
BigCatAdvocat, yes you are right, they ALL deserve it. THAT is why changing the way the public thinks and acts toward the environment and wilderness habitat preservation is so crucially important.
The only one happier than BCR is Chance. What a perfect name to help maximize his potential. Words can't describe what freedom feels like. Great work, BCR and all the volunteers who made this possible.
Lauralassiter, your comment says it all. NOTHING FEELS LIKE FREEDOM. This is why saving wilderness habitats is so crucial. Saving species in the wild in their natural habitat is so much more atractive that in captivity. THANK YOU for caring enough to post a comment.
Are they endangered in the us? Because its legal to trap them up here in Canada. We have to much of them they get to be real pests. I should start a business catching them and shipping them down to you guys :)
BigBoss483, bobcats are not an endangered species here in the US. However, in so many areas across this country they have lost their habitats and thus there are less and less of them. THANK YOU so much for your comment. What is your favorite kind of wild cat?
It would have to be the cougar. I have only seen one once in my life because we dont have alot around where i live. But it was very magnificent , it was feeding on a dead animal thow.
BigBoss483, it is sad that some animals lose their lives so that others may feed and live, but it is the way of nature and keeping nature in balance. Would you be interested in some free cougar desktop wallpapers and screensavers?
BigBoss483, that is a profession I highly admire and respect! HURRAY for you! We need so many more people like you in the world! Please stay in touch as you journey into that profession!
Wow! That's really wonderful that he'll be able to embark on a new life in the wild, healthy and carefree. That's really what all the cats deserve, but some are unfairly taken away from the wild an kept in zoos and farms in filthy conditions. It's breathtaking to see a bobcat released!
It's funny because as he was running, he looked like a bunny rabbit! LOL
Did you follow the success story of a previous bobcat named Faith that was rehabilitated & then released back into the wild by Big Cat Rescue? If you need a link to read her story, let me know.
Awesome,I hope you guys get great Karma for all the good things that you do. With Bush and others killing people, wildlife and the earth in general..it is good to see that some humans still have a heart.
SnowLeopardQueen, it was a blessing for each one who was a part of this wonderful event. Although, I am sure their feelings pale in comparision to how Chance feels in his newly granted freedom.
