Romeo and Juliet is a masterpiece, but it is in no way healthily romantic. Dying for love isn't terribly romantic, it's romantically terrible. Romeo was a whiny, dramatic jerk who was "in love" with Rosaline but forgot COMPLETELY when he saw Juliet. Edward and Bella aren't any better; their relationship is based on looks and smell. Not exactly the best foundation for a solid relationship...Plus the writing is horrible R+J had Shakespeare on it's side, with his awesomeness.

Romeo and Juliet is a masterpiece, but it is in no way healthily romantic. Dying for love isn't terribly romantic, it's romantically terrible. Romeo was a whiny, dramatic jerk who was "in love" with Rosaline but forgot COMPLETELY when he saw Juliet. Edward and Bella aren't any better; their relationship is based on looks and smell. Not exactly the best foundation for a solid relationship...Plus the writing is horrible R+J had Shakespeare on it's side, with his awesomeness.

i am a 26 year old woman and i studied english literature at a level, but i have to say romeo and juliet has a good story line, but that is it, shakespeare is not what everyone makes him out to be, he is good but by no means exceptional, but s meyer is writing for children remember, but still her story captivates most audiences including me. Her writing is inconsistent and safe but her story lines still pull people in, i say go for it meyer woo woo
