SON OF A BITCH!!! I had a 12" wuhan china that i scrapped at the recycling center. Got it off my friend and came with the drums i bought off him. I wish I would have kept it. Kick ass tutorial and nice chops and set!
Can you tell me about the method you used for cutting PAISTE 308 16" crash to 12", to make the second stack, that you mentioned in the first part of this video (3' 55").
What kind of tools did you use for that (scissors for metall, some drill stuff or something else)?
I believe that it would be interesting not just for me.
If you will answer this question with video (like this one), that would be awesome.
This is amazing, those sound nice as shit. Don't get down on your english either, respect goes out that you even wanted to learn it to help teach how to make these. You have a gift man. Keep doin' your thing.
i made one, do u think that using an old crappy brass cymbal for the washers would make it sound bad? because thats what i did and it doesnt sound the same as urs
@jackthedrummer96 The brass doesn't affect significantly the quality of the stack. What affect it though is the tightness of the Bolt/Screw assembly. If it's to tight, it doesn't resonate and if it's too loose, the attack is not "cutting" through the china sound. That's why it is really important to use "self locking nuts".
i had a duplicate of a 18" crash i own, i made it into an ozone crash, sounds and looks super professional, now i will take the cut outs and attach them on my wuhan china and have a second custom cymbal as tamborine washers. your vidio was very helpful, thanks.

Isn't that screws & nuts too heavy for a cymbal? Looks like the best still is aluminium rivets that kill the sound too much.

I make cymbal stacks with 2 cymbals. I put a 14" hi hat inside a 20" china, and it sounded completely different and cool.

2 questions 1 does the screwing only works on chinas and wat does the screwing doese to the cymble
RandomVideo1234567 1 year ago
@JeffrayFiset Do you think chinas of two varying sizes would sound good on top of each other as a stack?
DXpac20 1 year ago
@DXpac20 It depends on how many material enters in contact with eache other. And don't overtight the nut, you'll choke the sound they can produce.
As Bob Gatzen says: "if it sounds good to YOU, then it sounds good..."
