Give me a break. Just because you have a box with a meter that deflects near a power line doesn't mean those lines are hazardous to health. Studies keep looking for health effects and the vast majority find none. Occasionally one seems to find a connection that disappears once proper scientific controls are applied.
Yes, a power line will hurt you if you climb a pole and touch it, or if it breaks and falls on you. Otherwise, stop worrying.
Altermedicine, why do you have to call me a retard? The video quality was fine when I posted it, and apparently something happened to it after being on youtube. Do you feel like a tough guy going around calling people retards?
Clearly, the uploader has no foundation understanding in electrical or magnetic understanding. He says this proves how dangerous the fields are. But how? Based on the look up chart on the back of the unit? Anyone taking this seriously would first ask 'At what frequency is the field oscillating at?" and realise its at 50Hz. You may as well get worried about the earth's magnetic field.

He can measure magnetic fields in "Newton Tesla" ?! LOL! All credibility lost. Plus his "machine" is highly suspect, looks more like quack-garbage, not a real scientific instrument. But what do I know? I'm just an electrical engineer..
The meter seems to be a Gigahertz ME 3951 A which is a fairly expensive field meter for TCO conformity measurements (have a look at your PC monitor, I bet there's a sticker on it with a TCO conformity declaration). The unit he means is nT (Nanotesla). Unfortunately, that doesn't prevent people from buying it, using it inappropriately and misinterpreting the reading.
once me and my family drove under one of these on the highway with the radio on,the electric and magnetic fields were so strong they literraly shut off the radio and we had to get about 100ft away from them before it would come back on.......
Proven hoax and junk science. Look up the story of one Robert P. Liburdy, formerly of Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory in Berkeley, California, and how he "cooked the books", using fake data to create the impression that power lines affect biological systems. That's how the myth started, and it's a lie that just doesn't want to go away.
OK, do people really think that by putting power lines underground it makes them much less of a health risk??
People DON'T want power lines or Pylons... yet they want to have electricity to power their homes.
they are just like the people who bang on about the risks of mobile phone masts.. and yet they all have mobile phones and moan when they don't have signal.
Yeah, Next time DON'T test it near a 715KV line. Sheesh are powerlines like tower with simple wires or a two hundred tall missle. JUST LIVE WITH IT!!!!!!!!!!
EMF- Electromotive Force: Magnetic lines of flux caused by changes of voltage in an AC circuit (non-existent in DC), used to drive electric motors, or in transformers to change voltage and current. That's all it is, magnetism.. Conspiracy never proves a point, neither does an EMF meter. Educate yourself on the English language, before trying to panic the world about about EMF.
There's so much scientific and medical research that shows health risks associated with living, working or going to school near high voltage power lines.
@Altermedicine: It seems to me that you have deleted your comment, so I will quote it:

But hey - have fun living in your world full of fears...
Gee whiz. First off, I just love it when people who do not understand something try to irrationally make other people afraid as well. Secondly, I would highly suggest you do some reading up on electricity, magnetic fields, induction, etc. before you say any more things that further paint you as a paranoid crack-pot. A Gauss meter is about as useful for determining cancer risk as an E-meter is for determining the level of your thetans. Do some research if you are capable.
If you had any scientific rigor whatsoever, you would understand what a silly statement you have just made. If you wish to make anything approaching a meaningful contribution to science, and this topic in particular, you need to familiarize yourself with principles such as scientific control. Without it, you are merely making wild speculation and unfounded conclusions. Gosh, I thought Europeans were supposed to be way more educated in science and math than us Americans.
omg, douche scientist, you can blabber all you want, but I just proved how far do the emissions reach. Some people are allergic to emf, and in Sweden government sponsor the costs for emf protective color etc.
proof of how dangerous - you have proved nothing !
The voltage fields are high impedance, but the human body is low/med impedance, so the voltage developed across and the current flowing within a body at 50/60Hz is extremely low, and non-injurious !
What has been established however, is that the fields around the lines affect the trajectory of incident particles and concentrate their downward path either side of the wires; it is these that can cause cancer - NOT the fields themselves !
Often, such fields can be decoupled by neutral conductors, in this case neutral lines running under the current carrying lines could help lower the emissions.
Let's have an intelligent conversation on this. The question is not wether fields are dangerous. To be sure, long term exposure to them is dangerous. The question is the amount of strength and time of exposure that is dangerous. The inverse square law saws field intensity drops to 1/4 of strength for every doubling of distance away from the source. How do we know what level and therefore distance is safe?
there are solutions people, from low emmisions wires, protection against wifi, but still living under fucking powerlin is super deadly, electrical appliances are not emmiting such stong EMF fields, they emmit only if you are very close, as soon you move away from it it gets much better and safer, with this fucking thing you are never safe
