I was at Hills in 2006 for the conference and attended the service. I was very impressed that they collected 7 million dollars in an offering that was meant to be given away so unless you have some evidence against their work please stopped being so self righteous. In my mind, Hills does basically three things that they were called to do and they do it well. The worship CD which has blessed the world, the Colours Conference for women and the Hillsong conference in July.

sadly, many of the brethren churches like to take small parts of The Bible and overemphasise them, taking them out of their cultural and often theological context to reach conclusions such as women can't speak in church, the world will end in *insert exact date here* and there was once a race of giants that roamed the earth. Christians please learn how to discern what this group Hillsong and other so-called Christian singers and praise groups are influencing the unbelieving world, regardless if they use cursing words and other satanic words. @yorgg well...from what I see Hillsong uses money to help and save people. Hillsong usually would run a 90 minutes service about 5 minutes of that is for tithing and I never felt I had to give any money. I give only what I can afford and "no one ever goes broke from donating or being generous"

Hillsong may hve had some issues and things 2 deal with but no church is perfect. Through their music and ministry thousands upon thousands of peoples lives hve been changed 4 the better. Hillsong do great work to help the poor and work with many organisations such as Compassion!

Jesus wasnt saying 'dont judge' He was saying 'make sure you judge youself first, before you judge anyone.

Usually don't weigh in, but I'll put it this way. Hillsong, although not my favourite music style, have written things that have really helped me in my faith. Sometimes simplicity is the most beautiful and impacting thing you can hear. Frankly, I'm not for or against them. They're merely my brothers and sisters in Christ.

While I do wholly agree with you that you should lovingly admonish brothers and sisters in Christ when they've done wrong, this video seems very harsh. In one comment, the poster refers to the church as "the whore of Babylon". I do agree that there are very serious problems with the Hillsong church, but resorting to insults and vulgarity is not the way to help sinning Christians.

@etherform66 In my church, tithing is not required, in fact the speaker always announces that if you are a visitor, we hope you'll get something out of your visit, and you are not required to give. Every member is simply expected to give as they feel led. If God wants them to contribute a 10% tithe, then they can. If God does not want them to, they don't have to. There's no mandatory tithe. I do wish Hillsong practiced the same principles as my church. I might have to fit this in 2 comments...

It is really important to understand when approaching the topic of 'hell' that the word 'hell' comes from 4 greek and Hebrew words - sheol, hades, tatarus and gehenna. None of these words have anything to do with eternal torment. Sheol and Hades are used interchangably to denote the common grave of all men, gehenna is literally a garbage dump outside Jursalem and Tatarus is used once in scripture by Peter - idiomatically.

First, you have misquoted Mat 18:8 mate :) u are referencing another verse.Gehenna was a garbage dump outside of Jerusalem - it is still there today.By what scriptural authority is the proper noun Gehenna translated as 'hell' in the NT? (& left unchanged as the Valley of Himmon in the OT) It was common for criminals to be executed and thrown into Gehenna - Jesus was warning against leaving sins of the heart unchecked - it could lead you to an inglorious death.
@etherform66 Nowhere in the Bible does it say that Hell is temporary, instead we see it referred to as neverending. Another quote: "And these will pay the penalty of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power," (2 Thess. 1:9)

@seththeincredible96 the word 'eternal' and 'forever' in your bible comes from two words - aion & olam and should NOT be rendered as such. Those who persecuted the early Christians, their countrymen, (Acts 17:1-7) were cast away from the place they loved best of all, where God's honor and glory dwelt, and were manifested. But they will be restored, for "when the fullness of the Gentiles shall come in, all Israel shall be saved," so that his "everlasting destruction" is not without end.
As for biblical principles regarding tithing, I'll have to get back to you on that. I've grown up in the church, but I'm a relatively new Christian, so I need to learn more about what scripture says. I'll look for references about tithing and see what I can find.

I am more than Glad to give 10% and more of what I earn into Gods work, I belong to Hillsong Church. I give it with the right heart and the right spirit, after I give it if its not used in the right way that is not for me to judge, God will deal with that. In the end everyone will give account of their actions on the day of judgement and believe me, I have enough to answer for of my own never mind worrying about anyone elses.
You people all gotta remember that no matter what way a church is run there will always be some individual that will try to pick a hole, if you have that much time in your hands that you spend it putting together whorped, one sided, misleading, untrue, devil inspired videos about Hillsong Church, you need to have a serious look at your life. What about the Millions of people that has had their lives transformed by Jesus, that has been lifted out of suicide thanks to Jesus being preached at HSC

I was at Hills in 2006 for the conference and attended the service. I was very impressed that they collected 7 million dollars in an offering that was meant to be given away so unless you have some evidence against their work please stopped being so self righteous. In my mind, Hills does basically three things that they were called to do and they do it well. The worship CD which has blessed the world, the Colours Conference for women and the Hillsong conference in July.

Sometimes simplicity is the most beautiful and impacting thing you can hear. Frankly, I'm not for or against them. They're merely my brothers and sisters in Christ.

While I do wholly agree with you that you should lovingly admonish brothers and sisters in Christ when they've done wrong, this video seems very harsh. In one comment, the poster refers to the church as "the whore of Babylon". I do agree that there are very serious problems with the Hillsong church, but resorting to insults and vulgarity is not the way to help sinning Christians.

The whore of babylon refers to a counterfiet church system, one that teaches the doctrines of men as the commands of Elohim. It is paganism mixed with inspired truth. Weather or not Hillsong is the whore of bablyon really depends on its theological foundations and ideologies. Can we examine them? Is tithing taught? I ask this respectfully.

@etherform66 In my church, tithing is not required, in fact the speaker always announces that if you are a visitor, we hope you'll get something out of your visit, and you are not required to give. Every member is simply expected to give as they feel led. If God wants them to contribute a 10% tithe, then they can. If God does not want them to, they don't have to. There's no mandatory tithe. I do wish Hillsong practiced the same principles as my church. I might have to fit this in 2 comments...

It is really important to understand when approaching the topic of 'hell' that the word 'hell' comes from 4 greek and Hebrew words - sheol, hades, tatarus and gehenna. None of these words have anything to do with eternal torment. Sheol and Hades are used interchangably to denote the common grave of all men, gehenna is literally a garbage dump outside Jursalem and Tatarus is used once in scripture by Peter - idiomatically.

First, you have misquoted Mat 18:8 mate :) u are referencing another verse.Gehenna was a garbage dump outside of Jerusalem - it is still there today.By what scriptural authority is the proper noun Gehenna translated as 'hell' in the NT? (& left unchanged as the Valley of Himmon in the OT) It was common for criminals to be executed and thrown into Gehenna - Jesus was warning against leaving sins of the heart unchecked - it could lead you to an inglorious death.

@seththeincredible96 the word 'eternal' and 'forever' in your bible comes from two words - aion & olam and should NOT be rendered as such. Those who persecuted the early Christians, their countrymen, (Acts 17:1-7) were cast away from the place they loved best of all, where God's honor and glory dwelt, and were manifested. But they will be restored, for "when the fullness of the Gentiles shall come in, all Israel shall be saved," so that his "everlasting destruction" is not without end.

I'll give you a prime example: Fred Price of "Ever Increasing Faith in L.A. Ca, has many vehicle's including A Roll's Royce. Every week he passes one of his parishnoers, a single mom who is sitting on the bus stop w/her kids. Now!! She's required to pay tithes on her COUNTY-CHECK, but hes driving a $100,000 car. Hillsong lead me to Jesus, who changed my life. In my humble opinion they're incredible and loving people. Brian Houston is an amazing leader, capable of making mistakes, but big enough to carry on and stand up what what he believes.

Hillsong is a music ministry. As long as it is done honestly, there is nothing wrong with making money.
Though we should give to the poor, we also have to remember that "giving to the poor" was the excuse the disciples came up with when the woman began anointing Christ's feet with the EXPENSIVE oil that could have been used to help the poor, and He rebuked them and allowed her to do so.
It's okay to have nice possessions as long as we use them for the glory of God.

I am more than Glad to give 10% and more of what I earn into Gods work, I belong to Hillsong Church. I give it with the right heart and the right spirit, after I give it if its not used in the right way that is not for me to judge, God will deal with that. In the end everyone will give account of their actions on the day of judgement and believe me, I have enough to answer for of my own never mind worrying about anyone elses.
