Detroit scored two goals on the same power play in this game to tie the score. (Penalized players had to serve the full two minutes back then even if the other team scored.)
@conewells it's worse than that, james norris, the owner of the wings, had an ownership stake in msg and made sure the rangers only had 2 'home' games played in toronto during this series
norris also had an ownership stake in the 'hawks, that pretty much sums up why the rangers/blackhawks/bruins were the weak sisters of the original six era, toronto & montreal, along with detroit, made sure the cup stayed in their cities between 1941 and 1960
@GmanGregilla I remember reading once that it came right off a draw. Babando took the shot from the point (think it was a backhand) but Rangers' goalie Charlie Rayner couldn't see it because of a screen.
If it hadn't been for that silly Ringling Bros. Circus, the Rangers would have had home ice for the crucial games. Unbelievably unfair. An amazing performance by the Rangers. Heartbreaking.
Is foster hewitt the one commentating?

@jreiter9 the ranger were robbed of that stanley cup!!
the chant should of been 1950 instead of 1940!
we than only had to wait 44 years for the next cup!!

I'm not sure that anyone could've told from in this footage...
How did the Stanley Cup clinching O.T. get into the net? What was the shot like?
Because it looked like a fairly weak, rather wimpy little soft shot along the ice to me at, least...
