  • you can use this space a lot better that you did. Weeds are not your enemies! THey are your friends. Here is a great read:

I will go and watch part1 again. You need as much materials in a beds like this, it's just like composting, i bet you know it already. :)

Nice videos and gardening, thanks for sharing.

  • In my first garden soil vid I explained that around here we have hard water. So the soil ends up being around 8. The pine is being used to drop the ph as well as a long term decomposer.

  • May I also suggest getting a good granular legume innoculant work them in. They will help fix the nitrogen, & plant peas or bush beans between your plants. If they grow bigger than you like just clip them back so they don't compete for light. It is unlikely the weeds are coming from below. They are more likely seeds. Also pines retard almost all growth & is why few excepting acid loving plants grow under them. Garden vegetables like PH neutral. Try Garden Giant Mycorrhizal Mushrooms.

  • May I suggest, I noted some nice rocks there at your 1st video. I would obtain rocks if you can't use those as well as a lot of playground sand. You have already stepped over the natural boundry so in all honesty perlite would be a great addition. You are still planting into a compost heap essentialy & to me at least the soil you showed tended to clump rather than crumble. As with any green manure your compost robs the nitrogen from the soil as it is trapped in the bacteria until they die.

  • In my first garden soil vid I explained that I didn't expect much because of the nitrogen use of decomposition. Did you watch this in high quality. The soil is very loose until you reach the old turf. The camera doesn't show it very well.
