  • I'm very happy with my SmallHD DP4/EVF. I do recommend putting a ND filter on the lens [as SmallHD suggests on their site], as I already have a small burn in the screen that happened while working outdoors ... which is what I use it for 90% of the time. I kick myself in the butt every time I see that little burn ... but it's not bad enough to make a difference in the screen quality. It's an awesome tool, a reasonable price and I would not be able to work without it.

  • @johnjmcmullen Where did the burn come from? The lens of the camera or the viewfinder? If it came through the lens, that would seem to be a real issue and a deal breaker for me.

  • Can you size it for different size letterboxes to make sure you get what you want in the shot, so in post when using the letterbox you do not cut anything off?

  • That's one sweet set up, what camera is that? I plan on buying something for around 800$ any suggestions?

  • I recently bought a Marshall 5" ... this makes me wish I would have picked up the DP4 instead! The SmallHD looks like a far better monitor.

  • hile to 0:07 to see something funny

  • Awesome, I want one!!!

  • so its just the screen not the camera right?

  • Hey Tony,

How would you feel about the putting the gold reflector up above and reflecting down on the subject? What would that do to the image?

  • Great video! I wish a knew about you sooner!

  • I WANT IT :D

  • what's ghosting?

  • "now i got a 4.3inch size"

  • Yea for 700 dollars

  • Does the monitor work with all DSLRs? And also, does it mount using the flash shoe on top of the camera? I'm referring to my Nikon d3100.

  • Good stuff! Thanks for sharing!

  • I would like you make a more specific video about outdoor lightning. Usually you see this large light, reflectors and light blocking panels setups in Hollywood movies and it would be very helpfull if you explain how all this stuff works.

    Sorry for my english :)

  • That's a nice viewfinder. Thank you for the review.

  • Where can i find a that avenger arm to hold that scrim jim? I see diff ones online that uses two stands but i want one like this setup that is held up with one stand

  • @NextWaveG does it turn off because of the heat? that's the biggest problem I find with videos in a DSLR

  • Can you give me your rig?? :(

  • Great example with the top nylon. I was sure there was something like that used. Thanks.

  • great episode!

  • what camera are u using .

  • @costumATX he is using the canon 60d( he said that at one point)

  • For how long does the DP4 go blank on the 60D ones you hit record?

  • if you're not interested in the EVF review because you're not a millionaire make sure to watch the outdoor lighting tutorial 7:30 . it's really good.

  • I have seen many these videos. It's not about lighting, video trics and tips, it is about product placement. Damn!

  • Great tips. I could probably care less about the sponsor brown-nosing. That out door lighting looks great

  • this was a great video, I would love to see more lighting tips from you guys as i think thats part of video production that goes more unnoticed and under examined, particularly for outdoor situations. So this video hit the nail on the head in that respect. great job keep it up!

  • Tony did you have a few drinks before doing this video? I'm not criticising just asking.

  • thumbnail looks like a dildo lol. no offense intended for your camera.

  • Tks gays...you rules!

  • around 5:16 to 5:30 you mentioned external recorders. Do external recorders allow you to record uncompressed footage?

  • @Isle0fRed Yes, as long as your camera supports sending the proper signal via HDMI, you can use an external recorder to record uncompressed footage and the HDMI passthrough of the DP4 will not hinder that signal.

  • Would you recommend the dp4 evf as a "side viewfinder" (like the evf of the ex3) if you have a shoulder rig balanced on your shoulder made to be less front heavy so the camera is not in front of you but right next to your head and because of that you can't use the lcd screen of the DSLR/video camera?

  • @bouchandre Yes, I have used the DP4 EVF as an ENG (electronic news gathering) style rig with the EVF at eye level on a shoulder rig. Works very well.

  • Protip: when you're reviewing a product, DON'T wear the product's brand t-shirt.

  • i don't like the gold it looks a bit too unnatural but I'm sure with silver and a bit angle adjustment it would look really good. Thanks guys.

  • So many that's what she said jokes in this video....

  • cool

  • comment about how people who say first are lame.

  • @Jackjack505 ur just jealous jk this is the 1st and last time im doing that
