the great thing about this movie is how it moved me through the events, the movie starts as an action movie, you think it's just going to be one of those movies where the hero kills 10000 soldiers to get to the boss, then you start seeing things different as the movie goes on, in short, by the time this movie ends, you get a much better realization, of life..

I always thought that made no sense... Then I found out more correctly it translates "All Under Heaven" And that just sounded so much more poetic and made more sense within the context of the film,
I feel the rhythm of this song, i love it. Anybody who disagrees with their lifestyle will come to change and realize what makes them happy. I believe they should follow that. this is what the song tells me.
I feel the rhythm of this song, i love it. Anybody who disagrees with their lifestyle will come to change and realize what makes them happy. I believe they should follow that. this is what the song tells me.
The best parts were the part where Snow and Nameless were fending off the arrows, when Snow fought Moon in the leaves, and when Nameless and Broken Sword fought in their minds on the water. Epic.

No longer does the words that comfort us bring hope and joys. The word peace no longer means peace, it is simply a word tossed into the fray of two commanders and their selfish pride, fully expendable.
If only people could understand the story of Hero more than just what they see and take it to heart.
@zk4tw - the real beauty is how the dude *WROTE* it down in sand. just imagine what he would have written down (in calligraphy, that too), to denote those two powerful words. how beautiful would those symbols me, to get such a strong reaction out of our hero? that part of the movie took my breath away. *sigh*
The mark of the immature man is that he wants to die nobly for a cause, while the mark of a mature man is that he wants to live humbly for one...said Wilhelm Stekel
A mighty warrior marching after winning a war is classic western protrayal of triumph. Leading a throng of warrior greeted by jubilant crowds. But true portrayal is that of Nameless' march (Jet Li) with peace in his heart proudly facing death. This I will teach my son.
umm.. why do you want to teach your son to march proudly facing death?
how about you just make sure he doesn't get into gangs and gets an education? realistically, very few people need to teach their kids this "zen-like eastern peace of the mind" crap.
no matter how you slice it, when the good guy dies, the bad guys win. teach your son to win. that's what Mr. Miyagi says lol. so which Asian do you subscribe to? Jet Li, or Mr. Miyagi?
AT THE END OF THE DAY.... different cultures have different ways of life so lets just respect it in that manner... neither eastern or western culture is right or wrong (depends)- we all live in the same, small, blue marble....
You are correct Alban. To live peacefully is ideal. Everyone wants their children to prosper and live in peace. But sometimes circumstances dictate otherwise, and if the time came to march for the good of a cause they strongly believe in, then they should face their end with pride in their lives.
Life isn't black/white. Life isn't peaches and cream. Life is a balance of peace and war.
@Orthrus Yeah, cause its not like Western society hasn't ever committed horrible atrocities on a massive scale never seen anywhere in human history. Oh wait...
Then you have obviously missed the point completely.Find me an American that respects American Slave/Black culture from a mere forty years ago. You'll have a hard time doing it, because people consider it shitty behavior in today's culture.
not enough nowadays with the 3rd world war on the loom and besides how boring and mundane would that be "education" just seeks to turn one into a drone and further surpress an infinitley powerful conciousness i do agree with you on the gang part though the mob and pack mentality is just one more behavioural trait that holds us back as a species
education isn't as much a tool by upper echelons of society as it would be a chance for people to learn lessons about human behavior and power and corruption.
if you've read enough adequate material, you learn to question and investigate. these kinds of habits really take meaning when a person can educate themselves. without the information to jump from, we're just idiots chasing our own tails.
mob mentality shares no coincidence when it comes to the less educated from my experience.
Yes it is a tool by the higher ups in fact its the perfect excuse to take your child away for six to seven hours of the day and condition to accept whatever reality fits with an agenda. School is where the mob mentality is reinforced to the utmost degree; not only do they want everyone to dress alike they also want everyone thinking alike. Mr myagi did NOT say win by the way he say win or lose it doesnt matter as long as you've made your point and stood your ground.
i just don't agree with your idea about the way schools are "conditioning" children in a negative way. uniforms in school have proven to produce better test scores.

yeah uniforms improve test scores fuckwad. it's been proven and documented and is why even public schools are adopting it. because kids arent wasting their time trying look cool for the other kids. when you all have the same clothes on, you have more important things to focus on, like i dunno maybe what you're being taught?

if it was "complete erosion" then why do we still have a decent educational standard by comparison with 80% of the world? you act as if anything in your list is new or hasn't been seen before.
sudden pandemic? wow. you prove your paranoia by assuming that any of this is out of the ordinary.
you remind me of that moronic woman that filmed the rainbow in her sprinkler systems water. "what's in our water?!" it's the spectrum you idiot.
@visualkei72 I agree with some of your points, but you have to admit, our education system is going to shit. We used to use tests to gauge the intelligence of our youth, now we just educate them to do well on the tests so schools don't get their funding cut. Its all stupidly abstract and promotes uncritical memorization, rather than relevant education.
And comparing the US with countries of the same economic and development level, we tend to rank towards the very bottom.
As a member of the current educational system, I can tell you it is not working at all. Schools get no funding, teachers are laid off, class sizes increase, dropouts increase, and failures in primary education leave secondary education teachers with students who don't know anything.
If we invest more in our schools and less in trying to blow up other people or regulate the impossible, then maybe we have a chance at increasing test scores and overall competency.
sorry that that had nothing to do with tan dun's score. Absolutely brilliant, and a fantastic movie. But maybe if we had proper educational systems, I'd know that none of these sentences used correct grammar. wait......
@jesusiscool2 it's failing yes, but you can't say it's a failure altogether. i know somebody very close to me that works in the system, and she shares the same opinions as you. it sucks that its pretty much true.
@teched246 Sure, there's going to be some indoctrination and disciplining in school (which isn't always a bad thing, as youth have to adjust to deal with people and groups for the rest of their lives). However, a good education is the best way to promote critical thinking, and give us the tools to analyze, and therefore have a more sophisticated understanding of the world, and how to change it. Whether of not the US education system can be called "good', is another matter though...
@visualkei72 Pretty sure the West does its share of romanticizing the whole "going out in a blaze of glory", and "dying for a noble cause" thing as well. I mean, look at Jesus, for Christ's (haha) sake.
You're a retard. Don't teach your son that pride is more important than life. Do you want him to end up like the Japanese? There's a reason why Tokyo has the most suicides of all the cities in the world.
@leenot Ideology such as that my friend wants to teach his son too. Problem is not at the ideology. Problem is at the way the society is. W/o a fertile ground, a beautiful flower can't bloom properly. Our society is not fertile. Not in a sense that it used to be back then...
I've watched this film again and again. Each time a thought of anger, bitterness, revenge pop up in my mind, I listen to this music and I'm pacified. Greatest movie of all time only for those fascinated with humanity. Thanks for the upload.

In the first stage, a man and a sword become interchangable,
here even the blade of grass can be used as a lethal weapon.
in the next stage, sword resides not in the hand, but in the heart.
Even without a weapon, a warrior can slay an enemy from a hundred paces.
But the ultimate ideal is when the sword dissappears altogether.
warrior embraces all that is around him. The desire to kill is gone.
only peace remains...

@leenot
