I love the ending where toothless is helping Hiccup walk to the door since he lost his foot and the show the backs of them walking forward and you can see Hiccup's fake foot and then Toothless' tail flicks slowly by and you remember that he is crippled too and it just makes it so sad/beautiful.

why are night furies like ultra rare? The vikings have never killed one to date, they're ultra intelligent and are the best flyers. They're not eaten by anything else to my knowledge, so how do they get so rare?

@DazzledRose3193 the answer is simple, those dragons in HTTYD are vulnerable to mutations, hence the zippleback, gronckle, timberjack and many others the zippleback are like siamese twins. toothless is one of the last of a specific family of dragons who's genetic structure is still pure. in dragon lore it was thought the dragons died out of a disease, but i see that genetic degeneration was a huge factor in dragons eventual extinction.
