Japan have been crowned record 4 times as Asian Champions in the last 6 competitions while the best Korea has done in the last 20 years is 3rd place. The only time Korea was strong in Asia as a soccer nation was in 1956-1960. they did well in the 2002 WC, but Italy/Spain/Portugal suspect cheating by Koreans.
@Thegus0 The Fifa ranking isn't all that reliable in judging how strong a soccer team is. SK team has consistently showed stronger or better showing in Worldcup and U-19 and U17 than Japan. And overall record between Korea vs. Japan, Korea has won far more games against Japan than lost. 2002 WC had many questionable calls. SK wasn't the only one who benefitted. And Guus Hiddink proved he's no fluke. Women's FIFA is a different story. Apple's and Orange.

Mainland China lags behind Korea. It is still a relatively poor country. Taiwan is by far better than mainland china.
