after a few minutes of practicing i almost got it! it was sloppy and pretty much in slow motion but it went up to my neck. so excited! i'm sure i'll get it once i get a bigger hoop. my 39 inch hoop is on its way and i'm glad. the only things i can do with my current 32" kiddie hoop is waist, knee, and hip hooping. great tutorial
oh my goodness, i just did it 3 times!!!!! I've been trying to do that stupid thing for 4 days! and no one ever tells you that hoops hurt! I'm all red!
Apologies for yet another question, but what diameter and psi are you using for this hoop trick! I'm going to make another smaller hoop and give this a shot! :) thanks so much.
I can't even seem to master getting my hoop from waist to chest, much less all the way up to my shoulders yet... Are there any other tips you can give?
I'm not failing or coming out of "penguin" stance but I can't seem to figure out if there is something going on with my knees when I'm supposed to do this? You can't really see your knees on this tutorial, so I thought I would ask!
I have the same problem as Asyryda, hooping on my neck hurts so much! I have have a fairly thin and long neck, I'm not sure if that's the problem. It could definitely be my hoop size, I have a thicker psi size. Maybe I'll attempt this with a hoop with smaller diameter...
I have a problem with loosing momentum by the time i get to my neck. also the arm thing is very challenging. do you push and pull the direction that you shrug? or do you just shrug? any suggestions? I love your videos! they are very helpful. thank you keep up the good work!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! this is the first trick i wanted to learn when i got my hoop a couple months ago and i could not master it until i saw this video. whenever i feel uninspired i watch one of your videos to try something new. you break everything down so well. thanks again!!!
it is SO much easier to learn tricks when you watch videos! thanks so much...I FINALLY GOT THIS i've been trying for weeks!
here's what i was doing wrong for everyone else having trouble...i hoop to the left and i was trying to start the shimmy with my right arm in first, but it never worked. then as soon as i noticed you started...too hard to explain but here...if you go to the left try starting with left arm in first...to the right start with right arm in first
This trick is torture for me! Can't get it up to my neck and it's sometimes painful lol. Is it possible my hoop is too heavy?.. What size of hoop are you using?
Try this trick with just one arm at a time. Focus on keeping your arms tight to your body. Using one arm, shrug up your shoulder every time the hoop hits. Then practice with the other arm.
~ SaFire ~
p.s. It should be possible with all kinds of hoop weights, different hoops are good for different tricks so it's difficult to have the perfect hoop. I recommend to dedicated hooper to have several sizes/weights because some things just come more easily with different hoops.
I've been atempting to hoop in my spare time for a few months and the only major problem im encountering is the the hoop I have seems to be to light. Do you have any suggestions for where to buy a good hoop?
Your tutorials are really great. No attitude, super clear and fun. Good job and inspiring..Yay! I'm getting my first hoop tomorrow.. very excited. :) Keep it up and thanks!!
Hey! I found this really helpful when I first started hooping thank you so much! I have been hooping for a bout 3 months now, but I was curious if you could possibly cover in a video ( what I imagine is considered very basic) the hooping just on the upper arms. I can do the shimmy and get it up to my neck fine but I seem to be incapable of leaving it around the chest with my arms. I hope the makes sense. Thank you!
I'm having problems with this trick. I get the hoop 1/2 way up (between my neck and waist) but then it loses momentum and falls back down. Is there anything i'm doing wrong?
By the way, thanks for the video's they're awesome. I've learnt a lot from them!
thanks so much for all these tutorials! they really help! i'm new to hooping, and i figured out this trick in a day thanks to you! :) ... of course i don't look as good just yet, lol, but it is fun.
This is great advice, im such a newb in northern Canada with no fellow hoopers to learn from, thanks so much, best waiste to neck tutorial out there, great adivce about praticing sticking hands in.
Where abouts in Canada are you? I'm in Edmonton, Alberta. There's a good number of hoopers here but I spent my summer in Fort McMurray and there was NO ONE to play with. ; (
I am in Fort St. John. Thanks to you when I went to practice today I was able to do the things in your video here! I use the "classroom" behind the office to hoop to have enough room and be alone without watchers. :D I go to edmonton somtimes.
hey darlin, nope u didnt miss anything. the video is great just like the rest. also i owe you a big thanks. i learned how to do the helicopter and the one leg hooping from you. keep up the videos i know there is tons of ppl out there learning from you. i know i am. thanks for all you do....jennifer
The duck out? Do you mean when you are hooping at the waist and then pull the hoop off you as you bend down and "duck out" and the hoop is in your hand swinging over your back?
