  • Todays rap seems to be about killing, being a thug and a ton of bullshit. It was good as there was actually a positive message in their( melle mel/furious 5/flash) music,of course a bit of boasting, but also well written stuff.

  • Peace to the Old School Nation and Afrika Bambaataa, Yeah for the real hip hop heads, this is how its done. No fuckin rapper could do this today. I used to rock this on my boombox in the summer of 1984. So for all those haters and biters out there i was there. Where were you? Peace and much love to Grandmaster Melle Mel, Scorpio, Keith Cowboy and the furious five

  • "Make em hip to the hop and all that stuff..." And hip hop was born..

  • Reading all these comments makes me realise something, you all love this track and ol' skool Hip Hop like i do!!!! It's all about Cowboy(r.i.p) and Melle Mel for me!

  • The shift from Cowboy verse of King Lou verse is like switching from a harley to a tricycle

  • Fuckin joke tosser!

  • Lyrics?

  • Any chance you got the version of White Lines from this album? Regards

  • one of the best continious rap flows ever !!! blows everything else away...apart from eric b n rakims microphone fiend...

  • I haven't heard this song in over 20 years! I've been searching for this cut for years. I still remember Cowboy's verse like it was yesterday! "Check me out as I run my game, there's not another mc that can make me feel shame". He lives on in my mind for a lifetime. I can't thank you enough for posting this song.

  • 1:01 cowboy verse

  • Had Melle Mel portions of this song memorized in my head for about 30 years. Couldn't remember name of song until I just came across this upload. Thanks.

"We got beat so you can get paid" Classic

  • In 85 i had this on my 2 kg walkman. For me 82 - 86 was like magic.

Hip hop was fresh in those days and as time passed by, it changed into a monster controled by main stream media and kaballa rituals.

  • @funkhausen ...Same here my brother, had this on wax, recorded it to tape just to play this on dads ghetto blaster, walking down the street, thinking i'm black & in the Bronx, lol's, Many great tunes 1982 to 1987. So sad that music today SUCK"S.....Long live GrandMaster Melle Mel, the original hip hop super mc. peace to all hip hop heads world wide

  • ahh yer i remember this, we used to get down and break to this at spatz back in 84.... got the same hard beat like breakdancer-boogie boys

  • the absolute business!

  • first hardcore rap ever, melle mel rules ..

  • @prie71 lol give me a break

  • were can i download the album for free ppl cheers

  • To me, This is the best rap/hip hop song EVER! & I go back a long way! Just wish I could find the lyrics! Searched, with no success!

  • I love this one!

  • classic tune had the album thanx 4 the upload!

  • "always wear black and i always will i'm dressin for your funeral"...! SICK for the 80s.

"ain't no pressure, you know i'm fresher i ws born to never be lesser" this line Shiela E. BITED in the "Krush Grove" movie.

    and that is...

    the TRUTH

thank you to Grandmsater Melle Mel and the Furious 5 for giving us hip hop

  • @ankokugaiBOSS That dresed in black line is a classic. I benn using for years because of this song.

  • @REGINALD0205 word...sinsiter! That's when I really became a Melle Mel fan back in 1985!!

  • @ankokugaiBOSS Melle's rhyme was about Run-DMC.....

  • @taylor4660 Yeah! And I even knew that back in the day too. I think the 2nd verse in "King of the Street" was about LL Cool J too. (Ironically I heard that this was one of LL's favorite raps!)

  • @taylor4660 This rap is one of the best ever! But I cannot see the connection to Run DMC!

  • @martynpank Melles last verse was referencing Run-DMCs come up. At this time he was still "King" and alot of his peers felt Run-DMC was overatted...they came out in'83...

  • @taylor4660 I was a big fan of Run DMC, but I always thought, & still do think that Melvin Glover (Melle Mel) is the best..........By a long way!

  • @martynpank Also thank you! You could have 'Dissed' my comment! I like to chat sensibly!! Good man!

  • real hip hop in its purest form. this jam wasn't heard by a lot of people. "...got shot with a gun and stabbed with a knife people talk behind my back but never to my face!" "taught all the MCs the birds and the bees but they still can't get a young lady..!" this is the blueprint of all hip hop today.

  • @ankokugaiBOSS yeah & thats true. Cowboy was stabbed in Iowa at a show run amok. But he left the scene on his feet. Now that's a man.
