While I somewhat agree with the idea of how a Sonic game should be consistently fast, I honestly feel that the platforming sections adds variety to the gameplay...otherwise it would pretty much be on autopilot throughout the entire level. I personally feel Sonic Colours had a good mix of speed and puzzles, but yeah, that's just me :) Anywho, this game looks absolutely incredible, especially City Escape Zone in 3D mode!

i liked the slow parts in sonic 1, 2 and 3 :( Sonic 3 is liek my favorite game with the music and the level design, and the story was pretty sweet too. I think the sonic games would be boring if they were super speed all over the level

Thumbs up if you agree with this. Sonic games are meant for speed and platforming. Where in platforming you have to slow down and strategize your movements; thus developing brain power. They added the speed for more enjoyment but they had to balance speed with platforming. In conclusion, Sonic games are fun, even Sonic 4 (the only part I didn't like was the homing attack, made things simple, but at least there was challenge).

Ok to add on to what TheKylmar said, the psycology behind old sonic games is that the speed is your hit of adrinaline, and to EARN that adrinaline you have to go through a platforming part which to some extent requires you to think, stimulating your brain, before the adrinaline of the speed even starts. Now, the reason the new games suck so much is because they took out the aspect of earning the speed. Now its just instant gratification, with no stimulation, and that gets old VERY quickly.

In the Saturn release of Sonic Jam, there was an option to play a slightly modified version of Sonic 1, where you could use the "spin-dash". There was also a few tweeks to the format, for example in the Green Hill Zone Act 2 (i think), they added another platform just after the pits of spikes, where you get the star-box. i always died on that spot, and was glad to see that little addition... the more you know!

Automated sections on the other hand are a massive problem in Sonic games, but this is the closest thing Sonic fans have had to a good game in a long time lol...

I liked the demo, but it felt like a bit of a visual frenzy. I had trouble following what was going on at times. Maybe I was just trying to go too fast. I'm cautiously optimistic about this title though. First stage was long and pretty fun, I hope the rest will be similar.

Also, the classic games had numerous platforming sections and several fans criticize the recent games for not having enough platforming, hence why Generations has more of it. What I like about Sonic is that if you learn the levels and find the right routes, you don't need to stop.

Also, Sonic Colors is one of my two favorite Wii games, without a doubt.
