- Blambeer / Blambir (Pemadam Kebakaran) is used in Indonesian sometimes from the dutch known as: Brandweer that is Fire Brigade / Fire Engine.

@n4rit4 keluarga is "the meaning" of the word "familie" ... this is loaned word ... therefore I think it is more appropriate to link the word familie to kerabat ... as in "saya ingin pergi ke rumah famili saya" ... in this case "famili" means "kerabat".

FYI, The Dutch didn't actually occupied Indonesia, but the Netherland East-Indie Company did. of course it was backed up by the government, thus the military forces. but the NEIC controlled in every aspect, includes making policies and govern the colonialized. and it was a corrupted company. No wonder Indonesia have a culture of corruption practices.

Invaded? Hahaha! Well, the person is somewhat right though. The Dutch did in fact took over our countries for 350 years only to be kicked out by the Japanese. By 1945, Japanese abandoned Indonesia and they finally won their independence. That would explain why most of our words come from Dutch.

Sometimes I wonder whether it would not be a nice idea to link Indonesia and the Netherlands closer together. By bringing Dutch back into the Indonesian curriculum and admitting Indonesia as a full regulating member into the Dutch Language Union.

there are still a lot more loan words than this, especially in other languages in Indonesia. like berita (bericht), sepur (spoor), senewen (zenuwen), permak (vermaak), branwir-bahasa betawi (brandweer) n many more... I've read that there are actually 15.000 Dutch loan words in the Indonesian dictionary!
