  • The Master!

  • This was 4,5 maybe 6 years ago...and I still watch THIS SHIT it's so fucking well made.

  • And in the end, he's the Master!

  • I love this! The original trailer was a bit weak... this one utterly wins.

British TV at its finest. Whatever else the BBC do, I will always thank them for this incredible series (and A2A, naturally).

  • I stopped watching Americna television about 4 years ago...its just all about people out partying/cops/or hospitals.

  • I wish Gene Hunt would appear in my passenger seat like that.

  • What Is this show about?? Is it any good?? It looks good because 1, it has the Master in it and 2 It sounds like something I would be watching (like Doctor Who and Primeval)

  • @derppable It's not good at all. It is BRILLIANT. It's probably my favourite show right after Doctor Who.

It's about a modern day cop, DCI Sam Tyler, who's investigating a serial killer who may have kidnapped his girlfriend. So far, so normal...until he gets hit by a car and wakes up in 1973. Now he has to deal with politically incorrect coppers who care less about evidence and more about getting the job done by any means necessary. It's got a lot more depth to it, but it's well worth a watch.

  • @thelawsofphysicsarea Americans are fine with racy stuff. American television networks (because of American advertising buyers) are not. The pay channels (like HBO, Showtime, etc.), which are able to show racier stuff, only show their own content when it comes to television shows. Money reasons, I'm sure.

The U.S. version has a stellar cast and I'm quite enjoying the series, but I'm also looking forward to watching the UK version after I finish with the U.S. one.

  • @vita64 I'm doing the same thing!

  • fucking miss this show. the brits now their tv shows

  • I wish my Ford Mondeo would change into a MK3 Ford Cortina ; )

  • the best the best THE BLOODY BEST! i am on fucking withdrawal... i could watch both series over and over again. how am i supposed to live without it!? impossible. argh!

  • canadian here too ... sick of unfunny american rip offs of decent british comedy, first it was red dwarf, then life on mars, now shameless ...

MAKE YOUR OWN TV SHOWS! lazy gits.

  • I fucking love this programme! I watch it all the time and Gene Hunt never gets old!

  • American one sucks ass I'm Canadian and I know the best shows come from the UK

  • GENE HUNT FTW!!!, my all time favorite TV character.

  • led zeppelin was missing in the american version.

    i loved both shows

btw is Ashes to ashes any good?

  • If Gene Hunt existed. He would time travel in 2008 & punch the twats responsible for the American version of this show.

    ^^

  • I love the bit with the car changing, that's so clever!

  • I bloody love Life on Mars XD nothing else as brilliant as this on tv.

Does anyone know the name of this song? I can't remember and it's bugging me :(

  • @skulblaka92 Immigrant Song by Led Zeppelin

  • @erikahamaya Yes! That's the one! Thanks, I had completely forgotten :)

  • Great show!! fantastic characters :]

  • Good and enjoyable to watch and some good music

  • This is brilliant. Amazing show. (:

  • Ford Cortina!!! :D nice

  • LIFE ON MARS. What a bloody good tv programme, one of the best I have ever seen.

    Gene Hunt! Genius!

  • have to agree life on mars was definately

the best show in recent years and the americans ruined it in my opinion,do wish it had gone to 3 series though

  • Fantastic, but which is better life on mars or ashes to ashes?

  • life on mars obviosly ,one word well 2 actually john simm

  • Best show ever made Gene Hunt FTW

  • i have to say 100% this is the best tv showe ever made

  • i'd say a close second to Doctor Who

  • Love the trailer!

Concerning the American version, I agree that it's not as good as the UK LoM, but do people have to keep bashing it so hard? They tried their own thing, had their own twists... So what if they dulled down the violence & cursing - it was the story & characters that made the UK LoM great. Obviously the US saw promise in the original or they wouldn't have made an adaption. That makes them fans too. Wish the UK show had gone on longer. It's wicked as it is, but I want more!

  • Of course you want more. You're American and shows run over there until they begin to fail. You guys need to know when to stop.

  • Whoever said "he was driving a jeep" was right because the police officer says

"you were driving a military vehicle??"

  • i love the bit at 27 seconds sooooooo much!!

  • if i had seen this trailer i would have watched this first time on tv

  • I think it's a shame how this show is treated. I've seen the german dubbed version of the first season and it was so great, but they didn't show the 2. season. I tried to watch the original, but I hardly understand that manchester accent (Or whatever it is). And the US rather make their own version than showing the original cause they think, americans only want to consume american products, or what? Such a goood show and it never had a chance to get the success it deserved.

  • the americans had to make a new series because this version (the good one) would have been to racy for them. all the mummies and daddies wouldn't have wanted their poor little children to hear words like shit, and see all that violence. also, if it isn't american, they don't like or don't understand it. (i should know. i have to live here. thanks mum and dad! not.)

  • I totally agree that the UK version is much better, it's my favorite show, but what i didn't like about the US version (from what i saw) was they turned UP the violence! I mean, just look at season 1 episode 5(?) of the American; Sam is beaten to a pulp by a crazy man holding an entire hospital hostage. I don't remember anything like that happening in the original...?

  • @thelawsofphysicsarea Well. The ABC version of LOM got canceled after one season due to poor ratings. It's seems Amercian viewers aren't as dumb as some people seem to think.

  • @thelawsofphysicsarea lolz, I'm american, and unfortunately I do agree with you on the most part. Although, most of my favorites shows are British, so I applaud your country for making meaningful comedies and dramas like this one :D

  • @thelawsofphysicsarea

bullshit, otherwise we (Americans) wouldn't prefer original (UK) version, but we do

  • @thelawsofphysicsarea Are you kidding?! I love British shows, so do a lot of my friends (can't wait for Misfits Season 3!) American TV is garbage, we live in a nanny state, it sucks.

  • @thelawsofphysicsarea I believe it's more because of the cultural difference between 70s America and 70s England. They wanted to tell the story with 70s America, for Americans. I agree there are plenty of ways they definitely could've done it better, but I think Jason O'Mara was fantastic.

  • @thelawsofphysicsarea I know how you fell mate.

  • yes it is a manchester accent

  • Awesome trailer!!

  • Haven't seen the English original but I love the US show. Too bad it looks like it's going to be cancelled. :( I think North American audiences will relate more to the US version (American references, cars, history etc...), but I'll definitely check out the UK version on DVD.

If only we could save the US show from it's impending demise. :(

  • You'll enjoy the UK original, and the follow up "Ashes to Ashes"

  • The UK version was awesome!!!!!!!!!! The US version had a very disappointing ending...nothing like the UK version. The UK version is DEFINATELY worth watching. There is also a spin off from the UK version called Ashes To Ashes

  • the americans took the ending of LOM and crapped all over it.

  • @Libitina72

US would've been good if they had a differnt ending but still good.

  • @juliusyeung0330 how did the American one end? im not planing on watching it

  • @TheEndxTypeANIME

well, it just destroys both versions.

They were in a simulation in a space ship going to Mars and Tyler's CPU got messed up.

and 'Gene Hunt' means gene hunt.

    DNA hunting.

  • Yeah, there's probably a lot of references that Americans generally won't get in the original, but it's a great TV show.

  • You've missed a lot.

The English version is A LOT BETTER. It's my favourite series ever.

  • I know only the yankee version! I thing this cool, too!

  • then you good sir have no taste.

  • im serious tho, when i saw this i thought it was a parody but then as it wen't on i relised it was an english version

  • I think Americans and the English just have such a different sense of humor. I think the US version is ten times better but if I lived in England I'd probably like this better.

Have you seen the British version of The Office? yeahhh.... haha

  • Very much so. So many American jokes I find funny at first, then they keep going and dissect it until there's nothing funny left... but apparently, to Americans, that makes it funnier.

The American version was made for American audiences. Its goal is for that audience to like it better than the import - there's nothing wrong with that goal being reached, especially in a show that relies so heavily on nostalgia, which isn't the same across the Atlantic.

The American pilot of Red Dwarf, however...

  • Red Dwarf? haha.

Anyways, I take back what I said. The ending of the American Life on Mars was terrible. I can't believe how they ended it. yech.

  • I really like the US version.

If everyone says the UK one is better, then I guess I have some DVDs to rent someday.

  • no offenses anyone but i like the us version

  • seriously people how can anyone say the US version is better!? For gods sake they took the UK version transplanted the story without a change and expect every two bit idiot to watch it. They did with the office and now life on mars!!!

  • It's probably no better...just lost on Americans because they understand US references beteer than British references throughout the show. That being said, I prefer the US version.

  • watched the first ever one a couple of months before it was relised my mate works in lightin got the test dvd u can see the wires wheres sams on the roof sayin if he kills himself he wilgo back before they eddited them out

  • this looks pretty cool but i kind of prefer the US version cause its more action packed and that's more my style but i wanna see this version next time its on TV

  • He's the master from from doctor who, too.

  • only bbc show would have zeps' immigrant song on the trailer. I love that tune!

  • Cant beat the Original, love philip glenister, Pom tv rules LOL

  • In NZ best show on tv!!

  • it's on in nz? i thought only the us version was showing on tv...

  • When start seasion 3 ??????

  • There is no Series 3, Life on Mars has finished. Ashes to Ashes is it's spin off, which Series 2 of it will be shown next year.

  • what year did the guy go back to in ashes to ashes?

  • not sure what you mean, but Sam Tyler went from 2006 to 1973 and in Ashes to Ashes, Alex Drake went from 2008 to 1981

  • Thats exactly what i wanted to hear, the year alex drake went back to which is 1981

  • i wish he went to 1986.

  • Life on Mars is one of the best shows, Love Sam. can't wait for season 3

  • There isn't gonna to be a series 3, it's finish. There's ashes to ashes, but I don't think that's up to much.

  • Immigrant Song - Led Zeppelin

  • I know about how Sam travels back to 1973.

Still I love the the promo anyway.

  • Ya I saw he got hit by another car, but it looked cool. Anyway series 2 starts filming April 2007 which im kinda dissapointed at. But good show, I have all 8 episodes on DVD
