You know the irony? On average if I saw this in everyday life, I can't help but think dirty, but since they were TRYING to be suggestive it looked more like two girls licking popsicles.
I've read Barris' memoir and he said this performance actually stopped a police training session. The tv was playing in the background and the trainees were so mesmerized by the girls' oral talents that they couldn't concentrate on the task at hand. Now that is funny!
Originally this episode was only shown on the east coast. The rest of the country never saw it. So many irate viewers phoned the network after it aired that they canceled the broadcast in the rest of the country. In those days shows were broadcast first on the east coast then central, then mountain then on the west coast. Now with the internet anyone can watch anytime!

Does anybody know the name of the man who wore a Valkerie helmet, shook a fake snake in his hand and wore a Groucho nose and mustache? He won the act of the week the FIRST week of the show. Jamie Farr was one of the judges. He got THREE 10s on the first day, then THREE again on Friday. Then he returned weeks later and Anson Williams gonged him. I used to know this, but the forum that answered this has been canceled/removed.
I'm really confused. i thought back in those days just the idea of something like that was beyond taboo but the audience is loving it! and the judge made a dirty joke! WTF IS THAT!!! I'm so confused right now.... They wouldn't even do something like that today Wow...
I didn't understand that act. Apparently, Phyllis Diller's the only one who's disgusted by it. Klinger [Jamie Farr] gave them some points, and Jaye P. Morgan liked it a lot!
>I thought back in those days just the idea >of something like that was beyond taboo
Actually, the 70s were absolutely filthy. There were a wide number of NATIONAL ad campaigns that carried sexual innuendos - such as a commercial for a razor which had the slogan: "Get Stroked in the Morning!". And of course, the pinnacle of the times was the 1978 film, "Pretty Baby," wherein Brooke Shields (then age 12) was given the role of a child-whore who was fully naked in the flick.
One thing I failed to mention, pertaining to, "a wide number of NATIONAL ad campaigns that carried sexual innuendos..." is that one of those innuendos is still in use to this day. It can be found on in-store displays for Bic disposable lighters that pitches: "Flick your Bic!"
you're dropping knowledge about sexuality in the 70s and dont know what key parties were? couples would come to a party together with many other couples, drop their house keys into a giant bowl and whoever's keys they got on the way out determined who they went home with that night.
Okay, maybe that does sound familiar. My comments centered around advertising and the overt attitudes of that era. What the sickies did behind closed doors, with or without their car keys, is a separate matter.
I do recall Quaaludes being popular - now there's a party!
girl in blue is a pro....wonder if they got kids now and what they think about this video? rofl

Yes, it's "Have You got A Nickel?", also known as the infamous (but splendid) Popsicle Twins segment.
Wish that Chuck Barris was still around and hosting shows like this... one of the best!
