I really wonder what his gameplan might have been, because that guy can't fight inside, while Marg is doind great with uppercutts and body blows. Cintron looks awful, just like a punching bag. His only chance was to fight at range. He blew it up.

Also, I would say you can't just come in trying to knock out Marg. It is not going to happen. Cintron did not use a jab and seemed to have no Plan B or C. You have to move and box. (in my opinion). I also thought Clottey could have beat him if he did not get hurt.

alot of ppl dont see anything special about tony..for the simple fact that hes doesnt dazzle you with unbeleivable skill or athleticism..but imo he has things that are far over-looked in boxing..he has the qualitites that cant be taught..he's tough as nails very strong mentally and he has tremendous heart that is undisputable..im looking forward to his fight with cotto that fight will come down to who ever wants it more plain and simple!

Crazy, I agree. Too many people shitting on Cintron's heart cuz of this fight but after re-watching it... Cintron was weathering most of Margo's bombs (except obviousy the ending body shot) and coming back with some clean sharp punches of his own. If Cintron landed that cleanly on a smaller welter with a lesser chin like Cotto or Judah he'd have them in deep shit. Cintron can still beat a lotta guys. Margo just has a tough style for him.

I couldn't agree more. A lot of people bash Cintron for this fight, when they couldn't stand 5 seconds in there with Margo. But Cintron had the balls not only to challenge Margo AGAIN after his first big loss, but also to stay inside and trade with him for 5 rounds. That was a bad tactic (i blame Steward for this, i can't believe he let Cintron stay inside and take all that punishment), but if that's not heart, i don't know what is. Thumbs up.

A couple of things you and i both don't know: Is Cintron fucked up mentally after this fight? Will he ever be the same again? Is he ruined? Can any top 5 guy destroy him? Maybe all these things are true, and maybe they're not. My only claim is that a fighter who cried after a loss and later came out and challenged the other guy for a rematch has heart.

he probably is mentally fucked up..its 1 thing to get beaten but to get completley destroyed/humiliated like cintron did is another..cintrons biggest flaw without question is his inability to fight on the inside..once you take away his space he's nothing..the welter weight division is so stacked with talent its hard to beleive that cintron would beat any 1 until he corrects that flaw..mosley,cotto,clottey.mar­garito,evn paul williams despite being ridiculously tall can bang u up on the inside!

I don't know if he is indeed mentally fucked up neither do u. Plus, the shots he delivered inside vs Margo would hurt many other fighters, but Margo has the best chin i've ever seen. And think about this: If Margo beats Cotto, then Cintron's only 2 losses would be to the best welterweight in the world, right? So maybe Cintron isn't that bad of a welterweight as u describe him, just because he lost to one guy.

hmmm well that is strictly a matter of opinion..if you feel that tony and cotto are the 2 best welters then sure its ok to say cintron got beat by the best welter twice..but i dis-agree im not sold on that just yet paul williams imo can beat any 1 at 147 on any given night..then you have joshua clottey and an up and coming andre berto who looks phenomenal the welter weight division is not a 2 horse race by a long shot

Well right now i believe Cotto, Margarito and Williams are certainly in the top 5 of the welterweight division. So, having a 29-2 record with your only losses to one of those top welterweights isn't that bad now is it. But, claiming that Cintron has no heart is not even a matter of opinion, one can take a beating and have heart! And btw Clottey is very underrated imo, he's got skill and a good chin.

man i dont know what you seen in this fight..but what i saw was a mentally weak cintron allowing margarito a far less talented fighter impose his will on him..tony broke cintron down round by round as the fight went on you can see cintron giving up..im sure emanuel stewards game plan didnt involve cintron standing right in front of margarito and being steam rolled in the process..tony brought the heat an cintron coudnt deal

Before the fight i thought Steward's plan would be a lot different (stay on the outside, pick his shots and box). But i didn't hear Steward tell Cintron to "box" until the end of round 5. So Manny probably fucked up along with Cintron, something i didn't expect from Steward.

lol that was the plan..if you look at the early rounds of the fight cintron was clearly trying to stay away from tony..every time he threw a jab he was retreating backwards.cintrons jab is usually alot more assertive that goes to show you cintron was still intimidated by margarito his jabs had no kind of steam on them..cintron needed to step into that jab to stiffen it up a bit and it would have been smart to hold tony once he started to work on the inside..just seems like common sense to me!

That's right he never held, instead he just stayed inside and took punishment without clinching. Steward actually asked him not to back up, but to start going forward (get in the face of Tony that is) between rounds 2 and 3. That doesn't sound like a good plan... I believe that both Cintron and Manny were responsible for the loss.

Cintron actually nailed his guy several times and he just didn't flinch...he won round one...clearly lost round 2 and more than held his own in 3. This was not as one sided a fight as it ended. Margarito deserved the win and did what he had to do...but I can't wait to see Cintron back in the ring. Other than Margarito, I think he matches up well with any of the other welters!

Cintron has no inside game and doesn't know how to use his legs to stay in the outside.... Margarito was willing to take all the incoming to go on the inside and was successful.... props to him.
