I used to dance out at the Four Seasons on East Colfax in Aurora CO, Cahoots played there. Brought back great memories when I found this tonight. I've looked for it before and didn't find it. It would be great to be able to get a copy of the album, or of The Legend of the Parlangua.
The Cahoots recorded this in 1983. Heard it for the first time today on the radio on Rick Jackson's Country Music hall of Fame. And yep! It's one Awesome song!
Come on down too the bayou's of marksville, potchierville, promise you them city folks couldnt make it past midnight. LOUISIANA PROUD BORN AND RAISED A COON ASS!
I grew Up just about 1 Mile east of The Four seasons I was in there a lot untill it burned down. A lot of good memories and a lot of famous country stars passed through there
The bar's name that burned down was the Four Seasons. We used to watch the Cahoots there at least once a week and thought they were great! We helped them by making a donation when they were trying to cut their first album and have a copy of it which they graciously gave to us when it was cut. If either of them are still singing, it would be fantastic to know where. We would go across the country just to hear them again!
MISS LINDA! Don't let the Parlangua get you up there in those spooky old mountains of Glenwood I hear he escaped from Louisiana! Watch your back! Lol I love you :) Hope you're doing well (:
Awesome! I remember this song from when I was a kid... I heard it on country legends the other night and had to see if I could find it. Like the other poster said, they played it about midnight as I was driving over the atchafalaya basin in a dense fog.
Just so happens the author and singer of this song is the brother of a great friend of mine. I have been hunting with his brother for years out in Colorado and knew he was a musician but never heard any of the music until this past weekend when he stopped by the house. "In Cahoots" was the name of the band. I now have the full "In Cahoots" collection on my computer :) Pretty cool!!!
Cahoots sang this in Denver at the Four seasons but with 7 member band, lead vocal were Loyd Barnett and Ann Marie Barnett, in 1983 which is the copyright of the vinyl record.
Ms. M
I've got the album In Cahoots and love their House of the Rising Sun but haven't been able to find it by them. Are there more than one albums of their music.
@DefenderJP55 In Cahoots isn't the band I saw in Denver at the Four Seasons. it was a five or six member band and had a woman who sang a lot with them.
Just want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your nice comments and loyalty to this old song! Don't really understand why it is still popular, but as I said, I so do appreciate it! Go Broncos,, Go Saints, and don't let the Parlangua get ya! p.s. Great Job on the video, maddtears.
@Parlangua1 Because it's totally incredible!! that's why! I remember going to see Cahoots and buying your record at the bar, can't remember the bar's name. I never could find you after it burned down. Why? And why not sell the song now. Everyone in the country would love it .Josh Turner, for instance, would actually do it justice. Also, if you wrote Parlengua and Brown Eyes, why not more ? All the American Idol wanna be's have NOTHING on you!
@Parlangua1 Are you guys still playing?!? I saw one vidoe that was "In Cahoots" and think it might be you. If so, where can you be seen for crying out loud?
Thank you for the time and effort you put into doing this, how original, it fit the song so well, my husband and I loved it...thanks again, sad but catchy song.
me and my friends have this song on my itouch and when we get to gether we sit back and sing a butt load of country songs eatin burgers we just BBQed being just have good times befor we split for the real world lol our redneck group we call lol hvain fun and getting into trouble
I listened to this song on Rick Jacksons Country hall of fame.I have looked everywere for it its by the band CAHOOTS so if anybody know were i can get this song by Cahoots just tell me please
Another Colorado Native and I have loved this song for years. But they always seemed to play it on the radio while i was driving home from work at midnight and it was foggy. Don't figure!
I really need to know how to get this song. My dad is 72 and for some reason this is what he wants for Christmas. Can you tell me how to get the album or send it to me. I would greatly appreciate any help I can get.
This is cool to have a local hit of the early 80's posted. I remember the Cahoots in the Aurora location called the 4 seasons. however a fire destroyed it and the land supports a KFC and a gas station? Great times, great people and of course a great band. From a Colorado native.
I'm a Colorado native heard this song growin up in Colorado and one of my all time favorites, If a guy like Tracy Lawrence would record this song, betcha it be a #1 hit
i first heard this song in the 80s when i lived in denver -- and liked it immediately. they used to play it on klz (560 am). the dj that hosted the sunday morning country oldies show often mentioned the cahoots band since they were local.

I found the correct spelling to the Chicago French version of this monster, it is Pere' Malfait (Father Evildoer is the literal translation)
postdesrapides 1 year ago
The French community up in the Chicago Area call this the "Pear-ma-fay" (don't know the true spelling) Supposedly they live in sewers in Chicago.
