  • On this date in 1965 {Feb. 27th} "Nowhere To Run" entered Billboard's Top 100 chart; eventually it would peaked at #8 and spent 11 weeks in the Top 100...

    Ranked 68th on Billboard's Year-End Hot 100 Singles of 1965 chart...

Reached #5 on Billboard's R&B chart and #26 on the U.K. Singles chart...

Was featured in the movies "Crimson Tide" and "Bringing Out The Dead"...

Niamh Kavanagh's covered version was used in the 1991 movie "The Commitments"...

  • fantastic !

  • So simple, yet so effective

  • GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD MORNING VIETNAM!!!

  • I was in Viet Nam when this song came out ! Whenever we were out on patrol this was the Song that Pop into our heads... LoL..It's Funny Now , But Not back then ! :- |.... LoL

  • Haha, I picked this up in good morning Vietnam.

  • I always thought she was the best female motown artist.

  • @adartse2223 This group is great, but my favourite is The Supremes.... all of the girl groups of Motown had a special flair to them that hasn't been replicated to this day. You have GREAT taste

  • Brilliant

  • who cares if she is lip syncing, this woman ROCKS!!!

  • Gadhafi this song is for YOU!!!!!

  • GOOD MORNING VIETNAM

  • @glenobrien2008 I am actually watching this right now lmao. amazing amazing song! <3

  • @schattenreich666 You DO understand that this is an unrestricted site to which children log on, don't you?

  • @schattenreich666 Moron!

  • I dedicate this video to all women who have been harassed by little worms like doogwoody, the LAWS have been greatly changed in the last couple years for the "protection of women", so any PUNK like mr.doodles there will be tracked down and dealt with to the full extent of the law. Yes they are brave sitting behind their keyboards, that is until they realize that u have filed a police report against them. If you have a cyber trail to "erase" ya better do it fast mr.doogs, that is if ya can! ;o)

  • I sooo envy the people who got to experience the 60s. I am an 80s baby, and IMO, there are only two decades to envy... the 60s and the 90s. Both had amazing fashion, talent, and lifestyles... both good and bad. It's so sad that Martha & the Vandellas (as well as "The Supremes") were only in their early-20s when they were churning out all of these #1 hits. It's sad because girls of today who are the same age could NEVER in a trillion years, match that mature, amazing sound. I love Motown!

  • I feel so blessed to have experienced those days. Trying to explain them to the youth of today is like trying to explain color to a blind person. It was what it was and was it ever!

  • I always wondered how the performers got onto those blocks. Were they lowered by crane? LOL. I am assuming there were removable stairs or something.

  • That Black people have rhythm and the white people look like theyre trying to stand in an earthquake....LOL...they always try too hard.

  • @immortalcelsius Yeah, I know. My personal understanding of the black experience in those days was this style, sound and feel and I always considered it a gift to humanity. Copied, but never equaled.

  • WOW WE REALLY HAD IT GOOD...MOTOWN BECAUSE 'OUR SOUND'... AND TO THIS DAY NOTHING HAS TAKEN THE PLACE OF HITTSVILLE U.S.A -- DETROIT CITY....

  • 1965、時代を反映する映像、マーサ・リーヴス&ヴァンデラス”NOWHERE TO RUN"~ダイアナ・ロスよりとんでた!

  • every step i take u take with me yea!!!!

  • is there any with higher sound quality?

  • They sure don't make them like this anymore

  • 25 people got no soul !

  • 25 peole got no soul !

  • wasn t this on the film the warriors ?

  • If this isn't the perfect metaphor for race in 1960's America... Look at these women unable to step off the boxes someone else perched them on... How can they move so little and be so sexy? On the other hand... those lame-ass white girls stomping all over the floor beneath them... LMFAO!!!

  • classic of the sixtys.

  • im such a motown fanatic........aint that peculiar

  • this was my fav song while baseraping in bfv :D

without bfv i would never have known of those great songs

    Both songs are abosolute classics.

  • This is a real music yeaaaaaaaa....

  • what a fucking song

  • Now we can hide behind rough tough OBAMA......LOL

  • Vietnam's American soldiers had nowhere to run, nowhere to hide :)

  • @XB14D34X Right on! This song works on every level that's important to qualify as an American classic. I love this band!

  • i born in 1987 but i love the 60s music

  • i like how the audio old and not remastered because it takes you back

  • I was an 11 yr. old "little white girl" living in the south but smart enough to know nothing could touch this sound. Knew all the songs...knew all the moves. Still do.

    '

  • loves it

  • what happen to black music it used to be about love and amazing voices now its just crappy rap

  • @iplz and all of them have no personality in their voices anymore and all sound the same ^^

and I didn't even talk about the overcompressed unrealsounding instrumentals...

everything changes... sometimes it's getting better sometimes it getting more worse...

and music is getting more and more worse ^^

  • @iplz there's plenty of great black singers (and great rappers) out there. Their records just don't hit the top ten or play on the pop stations. Look for the "oldies" R&B station in your area -they also play new recordings by more traditional R&B artists aimed at adults rather than kids. Melanie Fiona for example put out a great album last year called "The Bridge" (and na acoustic EP version as well).

  • @GarudaStudio wrong

  • So fine. So fine. But sad to see Martha doing her act these days.

  • yawn

  • At one time the world was full of music, now it's full of noise... Nice to have a time machine on your 'puter.

  • @Gwhitebeard Because you have absolutely no will to look for good, current music doesn't mean it's not there. You're just a lazy old-timer. How's that shitty government check treating you, white head?

Oh yeah, stay off the road that WE pay for.

  • This song pumps me up God I love the Warriors!!!

  • Totally agree! This is a joy to watch here and noticing instantly the fan's excitement of their appearances. This song is a strong and timeless work of art. Thank you so much for posting. This IS MUSIC..real music

  • I just love this group...Martha comes on so gritty...so decidedly different and downscale than the Supremes but no less the hitmakers!

  • 21 faggots disliked

  • love the boxes... as the set design

  • Great song ....I dedicate this to any team standing in Ohio State's way this season...... Starting with Miami..... Nowhere to run ..... We want that Championship 2010 - 2011

  • @johnson3302: Until you play an SEC team. :D

  • @mikewattdisciple Ur absolutely right... Until we prove otherwise.

  • the dancers look retarded

  • sexless!

  • Good songs, music, backgrounds, lyrics, singing voices, and performances. I truly enjoyed viewing the oldies, it has been a long time.

  • Best chopper gunner song to listen to ever.

  • @pewpewzorz

    oooh, that's wicked

  • This reminds me of those General Election adverts on Sky News, this song is played in the background :)

  • Martha and the Vandellas were my favorite female group.

  • "Nowhere To Run" ... but who would want to run when a song like this is playing?

    It's just the best.

  • I can hear Beyonce singing this song

  • Dancers are fat and got no Rhythm - unlike Martha and the Vandellas...

  • Not even behind the sofa? wow they get everywhere covered

  • sounds a lot like "uptight" by stevie wonder.

  • oh yes indeed, class act all the way, these honeys really kick ass 5 stars for sure. greetings from victoria,bc canada

  • the central scooooroootinizer ;-))... back again, the last days i just realized why this song KICKS ME so much. it maybe the earliest OPENING for, maybe, millions of rock-songs. the chords in this tune (half tone dropped!) tonika A, then G,then D and back !most AC/DC,"allright now" from free, many Stones hits, and loooooooots of other CLASSICS base on this chords.and i just LOVE this. gives, allmost to me, a special feeling.something hypnotic ... or so,can't really describe.check out, there's tons

  • @piradoXXY fuck yeahhh

  • Martha really rocks with her song. I loved to dance to this song back in the late 60's.

Martha and her Vandellas never got the really big break that the Supremes did. Too bad so much talent. Martha and the Vandellas are and will always be big to me.

  • This took guts man, you must appreciate these peoples contributions to music!!

  • Wild One is another great tune by these ladies,

  • Another great, though underrated song, by Martha and the Vandellas is Wild One. It really rocks in the purest sense of soul.

  • check out sharon jones and the dap kings. there is still good music like this being made.

  • trolled

  • you have to watch it at 0:35 seconds a couple of times. thats the best part

  • awesome voice

  • Gooooooooooood mooooooorning Vietnam!!!!!!!!!!!

  • They were good. I'm 29, but would have enjoyed growing up during that era because of the great music.

  • @bthornton1980

same im 14 and i hate life nowadays

  • @bthornton1980 I was and I did

  • Lovely!

  • gosh I just hate this 60's background dancers... they always dance in the same way no difference if there's playing rock'n'roll music classic or gospel so out of rhythm ...

but the vandellas are just great and their coreography is muuch better :D

  • bathroom fight scene FTW

  • i love Martha and the Vandellas, the Marvelettes, Supremes, Velvelettes, Mary Wells, Four tops, Temptations, Miricles, and the countours. Martha and the Vandellas Rock!! i love this song

  • OMG so very true i thought no one ever picked that up but me

  • this lady is a real rock n roll singer

  • Why didn't the camera stick on the singers not those awful dancers ?

  • Forza St.Pauli!

    AEK Athens ANTIFA!

  • GReat

  • GREAT song which is BEAUTIFULLY sing by INCREDIBLY talented people, not like rubbish artists today with their crap songs.

MOTOWN WILL ALWAYS BE THE BEST.

  • This video is shown to all 2nd year orthodontics majors.

  • Have y'all noticed on most ALL of Martha & the Vandellas performances, Betty always messes up or is one step behind! Betty step it up!!! Oh yeah "No More Tearstained Makeup" from their Watchout! album is on here. Written and produced by Smokey Robinson. Check it out!!

  • Martha please run out of Detroit when u are kicked out of City Council. Pay your taxes before you leave though

  • Roz and Betty are wailing!!! This is my FAVORITE lineup of the Vandellas!! Martha, Rosalind, and Betty!!!

  • R.I.P marcelino sanchez rembrandt WARRIORS FOR LIFE

  • Hell yes!!!!!!!!!! WARRiORS is the 1st thing that comes to mind ;)

  • This is amazing. I love the fact that she is singing this live. You can tell its not lip-synched like most of the shows back then. She has one of the best live singing voices I have ever heard out of motown...

  • Great song!

  • it's also in the film "the Warriors" top film

  • This song goes well with montages of the vietnam war!

  • I think it was used in montages of Nam in either Good Morning Vietnam or Forrest Gump.

  • also used in the Warriors

  • in......Good Morning Vietnam, just watched it last night

  • I'm gonna listen to Heat Wave next.

  • Sorry, Heatwave.

  • 9-16-2009. Happy Birthday, Betty. This was one of the greatest groups of all time. May you have many more.

  • Slseem, it's ok, you're just too old to see that the days of Jessie Jackson, Al Sharpton and the like are comming to an end. You would feel insecure without your racial safety blanket. Funny, but 2/3 of the doctors at the hospital where I work are black, the nursing staff is a pretty even mix of black, hispanic and white. Seems pretty equal opportunity to me. BTW, I went to U of MD, It has a rather healthy minority mix. Funny, most of my educated black friends agree with my assessment.

  • 1960s and 1970s were known as gold era of rock

  • and soul hun

don't forget the soul music and real R&B!

  • Both Diana and Martha, were Great artists in their own right, both playing an integral, unique part of that Motown Sound. I cannot choose between say..."Love is Like an itching in My Heart" and Nowhere To Run" I Love them both.

  • I loved playing this while flying a helicopter in BF Vietnam :3 it fit the mood so well

  • lol, so did i too! I was in a special airborne tactical division! They called me Agent Orange!!

  • LOVE it!

  • Martha & the Vandellas rocked this performance! There should be more live vids of them back in the day on here!!!

  • Martha never got the respect from Motown and made her 2nd fiddle to Diana. Any one with ears can tell that Martha not only has better vocal range but her songs don't all sound the same like Diana's did. Martha's Heat Wave is fantastic..listen to it for the first time. Message to randoncookie that you love the Supremes. Go to a Supremes video and make your comments they don't belong to tarnish Martha who has had to deal with idiots like you all her life. Smarten up! Brownie

  • You forget one important issue.

The Supremes had a star quality unlike any group before or after. That is something that's hard to define.

I love Martha but she is no Diana.

  • Word!!!! I agree, Brownie. Great comment, unlike all these vidiots and vets who think this is their whoop-ass song. Martha was singing about love.

  • I remeber this song from the Warriors

  • This song is the soundtrack to the film "Vinyl".

  • this is the song to play when ur lookin for some punk to beat his ass

  • wow! just BRILLIANT!
