Of course Carpenters' version of "Sing" was the smash hit. It's funny when you hear the children's chorus on that recording because they'd all be over 50 years old now!
That lil girl did NOT want to be there lol she kept lookin around like "how do I get out of here..." & then she looked at Susan like "what do you think you're doing with my hands? Stop that."
I'll be forty years old next month 12/17 and I'd give everything up to go back to that simple place in time when my mom would make me a pbj sandwich or cookies and milk and make sure I was in front of the set to hear the message and lesson of the day with all those wonderful characters.....Thank you mommy :)
I wish I lived on Sesame Street, where children are part of everyday life. It would be great to be holding little kids in my lap and pushing them in the tire swing.
Considering that this program is aimed solely for a very young demographic audience, this show and it's song writers wrote some very good songs that made their way into the mainstream musical markets, with this song "Sing"(number 3 in 1973),"Rubber Duckie"(number 16 in 1970),"Bein' Green" and "Rainbow Connection"(number 25 in 1979).Pretty decent success considering.
@filzphan Rainbow Connection has nothing to do with Sesame Street. The song was written specifically for The Muppet Movie and has never been sung by Cookie Monster, Big Bird, Ernie, Bert, etc.
Yeah,I know.My point was simply that some of the songs that were originally "sung" by a few of the muppets were more than just simple little ditties. They were songs that were good enough to make it into the Top 40.
I think this is a song everyone should listen every once in a while when they're feeling down. Because there is something about this song that makes you happy.
my mom used to sing this to me when i was very little when she put me to bed...ill never forget those great innocent times i spent with my mom going to the park
The innocence that this song transpires is beyond imagination. Those were simple times then. This song depicts a child so well, that it transports me to my childhood. Thanks for posting this.
Google's Spanish translation of "Sing".
I wonder how this song would sound like in Mandarin Chinese.
God bless all the cast and originators of Sesame Street, for opening up education to so many underprivileged inner city kids-- and us spoiled suburban kids too-- of all backgrounds. You will never know how many lives you changed for the better.
These are the days when an adult man could hold a child on his lap without being considered a perv. I miss those days. (even though I wasn't alive then)
I used to listen to all these Sesame Street Vinyl record albums and loved it when Luis would sing in Spanish. I would listen to them SO many times that I could sing the songs IN Spanish, only I had NO idea if I was pronouncing the words correctly or what I was singing! I'd just sing what I heard!
What a sweet rendition. Really takes me back, and I wasn't even alive when this came out! (late 70's child) One thing....this is set up to make it look as though they're outdoors, so where is that tire swing supposed to be suspended from?
Bob has such a good voice.
