  • SMEXY AS HELL !

  • so glad i switched to a one hander when i was 11

  • @loseri123 So glad I took up tennis at 36, after watching Roger LOL

  • Now this is why you never underestimate a guy with one-handed backhand!

  • The 3 people who disliked this was Nadal, Djokovic and murray

  • He hits it so Perfect and Accurate! *orgasm*

  • hey whats up with youtube??? it only shows my views :P

  • Whats the name of the song?

  • @lijpootje paul oakenfold - ready steady go

  • @sultanabran1 Thank you very much

  • @sultanabran1

    bless you

  • who on earth disliked it they mst be jerks

  • @afsaldurranihotmail Roddick logged on 3 times as different users.

  • @sultanabran1 haha yeah he is d culprit lols

  • shivers watching its... yea its serene ... when i play badminton i mimic him lolz

  • the people who dislike this is

    1. Andy Roddick

    2. Novak Djokovic

    3. Andy Murray

  • poor andy:(

  • YEAH BABY!

  • so fakin perfect.:) ty

  • 3:49 kills me...right before he's all calme." oh ho hum la la la...i'm roger federer...what a nice day..i'm from switzerland la la la... "...and then WHAAAAM he fricking torches the ball at a 100 miles an hour...hahaha......this guy's the greatest ever...no question...i don't care if nadal ends up with more majors....Roger's the all time king

  • And this is his weakness? Pfff...

  • poor roddick

  • I love how most of the video was roddick getting raped LOL

  • @XIXQuickDrawXIX i love it too...roger OWNS andy.....there's a toronto rapper named thrust...one of his lines is " on the mike you've never seen anyone better....i'll have you fearing me like roddick fears federer "...lol...i laugh everytime i hear it.

  • Nver did your forehandvideo get banned??

  • If i thought my rally shots were fast.. i wonder what level of shots federer and the pro's are hitting..... dumb question since they are the world's best tennis players. Just got to see them live once!

  • @jfkpublicservant that would be the most boring of all time.

  • Federer makes a ballet dancer look like she's got hooves,

  • this video is the reason i started playing tennis! thank you nver! thank you roger!

  • @jfkpublicservant - God was not meant literally.... strange that i should have to explain that LOL, but in any case he is the GOAT and not just the Greatest of all time at the moment (also given this stature by almost all the past legends). Nadal may win 30 slams but until someone comes along with a game as beautiful and effortless to watch.... Roger will be Tennis! 6-0, 6-0 drubbing would be boring to watch and Federer does a good job of keeping it interesting for the world to watch.

  • As Federer is the blueprint for all players to aspire to, this video is the blueprint for all other budding montage-makers to look to emulate. Top job.

  • There are no words in the English language to really do justice to how good "The Federer" is. All one can say is that if God were to play tennis, this is exactly how he would play! Nobody like him, past or present.... maybe in the future, but as of now.... This is the blueprint, everyone else can only hope to emulate to a small degree!

  • this and the forehand repertory video are inCREDible! do you have one featuring his volleys/net play? or serves?

  • perfect player

  • /watch?v=BXFr4YGZSlU

  • As a Federer fan,i allways had huge respect for Nadal and i give him the credits for what he accumplished in his career, but when people start to compare him to Federer,i begin to wonder as a sport player that i am,and i allways had this thought that Technique allways stands above the Power, and Federer was simply born to be the best as we can get.Love R.Federer

  • bh at 1:06. damn!!!!! ahaha

  • the most beautiful thing to watch in sports - roger's backhand drive. when they decide to make a memorial of him thats the pose they should use

  • roddick's in here fifty times getting his goofy ass passed by the Fed once again - federer absolutely owns roddick

  • Living Legend

  • Roger can make crazy shots with his backhand : either powerful down the line backhands, inside-out backhand with sidespin, crosscourt backhand just with a flick of the wrist, sliced backhands (and by the way he is one of the rare players to make slice passing shots and slice lobs), and also does insane backhand half-volleys.

    He is an artist

  • For those of you that play the game, you know that he is the greatest of all time. His strokes are the purest I have ever seen. Nadal is awesome, but his style of play will leave him far short of RF for the mere fact that his body cannot take that kind of punishment year in and year out. Nice video.

  • poor andy roddick

  • lol, i think that ARod is in almost half of the points

  • If I wouldn´t have subscribed you already I would do it NOW.

  • very good video song

  • un grand joueur

  • cant stand this shitty modern-day close-up camera work where the focus is on the ball and not the players

  • @imbecillealseguito I'm working on a new one, to congratulate roger for the AO.. but i've been really busy.. hehe sorry folks :/

  • @nver Daggummmit! It's been over a year :)

  • Coach: "Okay you have a chance. Just hit to his backhand it's his weakness."

    Player: "Hey what's this vid?"

    Coach: "..."

    Player: "..."

Coach: "Better luck next time kid."

  • @brucecheewai. His only weakness........he don't accept WORLD NO.2 in his dictionary!

  • Does roger use a different grip on his backhands compared to his forehand?

  • Roger Federer's backhand truly is amazing, I wish I could hit those one handers. They're beautiful.

  • 2:32 masterclass!

  • @brucecheewai His inside out, in-the-servicebox forehand comes pretty close though

  • You have to feel sorry for Roddick, he's on the end of a lot of these

  • I wanna see how much of that he does when Rafa hits that western looper at it. Probably the biggest kriptonite to Fed's backand. The nadal forehand.

  • @lacobra27

Plenty. I've seen Rafa defeated by that backhand on numerous occasions. Sure, he can exploit it more than other players but that doesn't mean he can neutralize it completely.

  • Best backhand video compilation.

    4 minutes of beautiful magic..

  • wtf I see Roddick in almost every play.

  • Just nasty

  • Pfft, in backhand rallies against Nole or Murray he comes out on top plenty of times...and he always dishes out backhand winners

  • wicked!

  • federer's backhand is definitely amazing, but isnt it one of his weaknesses?

  • does it look like a weakness to you?

  • @tony123hawk

Yea it used to be, but then players kept on exploiting it, so eventually it became one of the best in the game.

  • Federer has the best backhand in the world

  • I hate it when people say, he's backhand sucks.

His backhand is so good and so well placed.

  • FCKIN AWESOME...its freakin beautiful!..*watches over and over again*

  • peRFect

  • the most elegant backhand ever !!!

  • Am i the only person who notices how many of these shots came against Roddick? thats y he never beats Roger. He comes to net 2 often. If he stayed back and tried to be more consistent from the baseline vs Roger, he'd give Roger more of a test.

  • @jmk8646 hahahah i agree 100%!!!! every single highlight video i watch of roger, roddick is usually on the losing end.

  • yeah im a roddick fan and watching all of those matches where federer pummeled him. it was tough to deal with.

  • LOVE you Roger ;

  • The best ever tennis player foooo shooooo

  • P.e.r.f.e.c.t.i.o.n.

  • Oh how I love his backhand... nice & beautiful to watch!

    Superb video! =)

  • These are all really awesome looking backhands... but does anyone else think that the best part of this video is like... 1:08? Like, when the music... synchs so well with his bounces/steps? Or am I just crazy..

  • federer is playing against who in 1.51?

  • @Saskobest Not sure but i think it's Tim henman in 2002 if you talk about the guy at the net.

  • you really mean 1:51?

it must be the match against andy roddick. hes playin on that special red court and there is the davidoff commercial in the back, where he hit that unbelievable smash for about three meters behind the backline..

  • @1lngrmrtn1 I think it's the same tournament, different year. It's the Basel tournament, but judging from his hairstyle and clothes... probably after 2004 which was when he lost his ponytail... right? The match against Roddick was.. 2003 I think. I'd say 2006 or 2007 since that polo looks like a different colored version of his Australian 2007 polo.

  • It was in Basel 2006,against Guillermo Garcia-Lopez.Absolutely sure.

  • Roger Federer is uber-kewl genius!!!

  • brilliant video of a Champion, gr8 work by nver...!!!

  • Its requires more skill to use a one handed back hand, there's a lot more control needed, as its near impossible to do an open stance backhand (un-like a two-hander) so you have to anticipate the ball earlier and rotate your body so that your hitting the ball Outside In! I feel you can generate more power with a single handed back hand then a two-hander! :D

  • I agree on the overall more power with the one handed backhand. However, I must say overall two handed players get a few more opportunities to use their power as opposed to one handed players.

  • yes i agree with you there, as a two handed backhand needs less back swing to hit the ball correctly therefore you can use it even if your a fraction away to the net, altho it does depend on racket speed, as Federer, Gasquet, Wawrinka have incredible racket speed which allows them to use there one handed backhand alot more then say Youzhny or Gonzalez which would opt for an inside out forehand if they can help it!lol

  • Roger Federer is more South African like his mum i think, but he was born and brought up in Switzerland which he hails as his home country,(FacT)

  • is federer a human ahahaaaha

  • space man

  • One hander rules. The passing shots look soo much better than double handers (In my opinion)

  • yeah and Mikhail Youzhny, Tommy Robredo & Haas Wawrinka, Kholschreiber and many others

Less than before but it's still used by many players.

    Great to see them !

  • so beautiful! Im newer to tennis and looking forward to trying out in my high school team, without realizing it i started using the one hander, it feels so much more natural to me and watching Federer do it so much encouraged me. now that im playing against friends and other people Im beginning to wonder if Rodger and I are the only ones who use it.

  • And what about James Blake,Taylor Dent, Richard Gasquet, Fernando Gonzalez, and others.

  • Yet every junior in the world gets taught the two handed backhand these days.

  • Junior players rarely have the strength to use a single handed backhand, so there taught the two handed by default, as the player grows its upto them if they change to a single hander, if they are going to change there backhand its usually between the ages of 9-11 and is usually a natural conversion.

  • Single handed backhand really doesn't take much strength

It's all body rotation, pure technique

  • It does for juniors! ask any youth development coach why they don't teach the one handed backhand at a young age! And yes its pure technique like all tennis shots, and in all tennis shots its the positioning of the feet that enables you to hit the ball correctly!

  • @RRED2 I think, at a young age, forearms are not as developed to hold the racquet against the impact of the ball as well because the palm is not completely behind the racquet (unless you're using one of those extreme.. western.. backhand grips where you are only useful against high-ish backhands).

  • I don't think it's said enough, but that arm should really consider itself lucky to be connected to those set of legs and feet.

  • great tune for a great tennis player!!

  • Just incredible tennis from him... great video, nice work.

  • alien

  • what a fuck !! he is a Genious !! out of this planet !!

  • Yo dude your videos are the most amazing.make more!!!!!!. Really nice editing

  • what a video dude....... great music combined with well edited video.....

I just kept smiling throughout the video...

    we want more ...

  • I bet the other guys are thinking, why do I even try, they just watch the ball fly past them, and say dammnn I just got raped.

  • oh that backhand...........

  • thres only one thng to say about federer and that is that hee is a master class magician with as u say, flawless technique and perfect form..any upcoming tennis player would die for..plus he is NOW, unbeatable on any surface including rolland garros + ......... Tennis Rokz..lol, wohoo...

  • He's definitely not unbeatable on clay, Nadal is the man. However, he does have the most beautiful technique anyone could ever hope for, and he is pretty much the greatest of all time.

  • each moment is a moment captured in time.

  • song?!

  • ready, steady, go

  • truly a form of art

  • backhand is not best shot of rog but is the beauty and elegant shot..

  • Federer´s backhand is way beyond beautiful,My god its a joy to watch...

  • I wouldn't say so. His backhand can be really shifty. When its on, its crazy good, and when its not on it can be crazy awful. I once saw a match of Gasquets at the Masters where he hit something like 30 winners just off his backhand, and then I saw his next round and he made around 30 errors off his backhand. Roger's backhand is much more consistently good than Richard's and that's why I would prefer his backhand any day.

  • 1:00 Monster backhand

  • no, tommy haas uses it too, among a few others

  • "When you have such a strong weakness it's hard to loose."

    ?

  • hahahaha roddick hahahahaha

  • roddick is a victim

  • lol how many of those passing shots were against Roddick?!?!?!

  • Increible ese backhand!!!!

  • It's ok I just read back:

Paul Oakenfield - Ready Steady Go

  • Really Cool video, awsome points.

Please could you give me the name of the song during the vid?

  • Very nice vid, good job on the audio!

  • Lendl had the most consistent one handed backhand from the baseline when he hitting with power. Rarely made unforced errors with his small Adidas GTX racquet.

Becker had the best one handed return on the backhand. It was the more effective the harder the serve was.*lol*

  • Federer has the BY FAR the best one-handed backhand and has one of the best back-hands on tour. His inside-out backhand cuts across court with unbelievable precision. Federer stands as the model for the one-handed backhand.

Oh, and he also directly inspired Pete Sampras to switch to a one-handed backhand from a two-handed. Must I say more...

Oh, and Federer directly inspired Pete Sampras to switch to a one-handed backhand.

  • inspired pete sampras? im sure that's a joke.

  • Lmao, agreed (Y)

  • yea, I can't really tell if that guy was trying to be funny, or if he's just totally clueless.

  • best one hander Kohlschreiber.

best two hander i think murray or nadal.

but federer has the best looking backhand :P

  • two hander?? nalbandian or safin has some pretty good ones.. nalbandian's backhand looks prettier IMO but safin's backhand is harder and flatter (when he's not mad-crazy but good-crazy).

  • i think nadal's backhnad is the best because he rarely misses. safin doesnt play as good now day's and so does nalbandian. but you do have a point they are both good players with good backhands but nadal's backhand is much more reliable

  • Probably the best backhand alltime

  • lol im a huge federer fan but this isnt the best backhand at all!

it is the most pretty backhand though :D

  • edberg, lendle

  • from the vids that i've been seing. it looks like he tires out his opponents and hits super fast forehands and backhands... =) but it doesnt take a genious to figure that out eh?

  • tomm.....

  • great job...i really like youre videos

  • Go Roger.. 2009

  • PLEASE make one with Primavera-like music

  • Roger Federer has sure one of the best backhandshots ever....

  • que buen video felicitaciones :)

  • i agree.

he beat the crap out of nadal in madrid.

    so maybe. :D

  • roger looks like he has found hid form again, this past week he has been solid, especially his serving and his backhand

i think he could win rolland garros if he keeps this level up

  • this is a very impressive collection of videos

will we ever see another backhand like this in the future?

    so pure,clean,accurate and precise

when he was in his prime he could win a whole grand slam with his backhand alone

  • its depressing watching these vids of him playing these amazing shots, cause we all know he isnt someone to be afraid of anymore, no one talks about him breaking all the records now, its all nadal, nadal, nadal - cant wait for the day he too has a slump, but hopefully, never to recover

  • All the more depressing because Roger's only 1 slam away from Pete's record

  • i know... :(

  • not that depressing because tomorrow he could equal that record:)

  • yes he's one slam away from pete :)

he showed us all how life could change within moments

  • erhm, he has past pete...

  • Federer, as of winning Wimbledon 2009 has surpassed Pete Sampras' record of 14 grandslams by 1, giving Federer a grand total of 15 slams.

  • Yeah it sure is depressing knowing Roger is the complete and total GOAT and currently number 1 in the world on the road to pass Connors, Lendl, and Sampras record of most amount of weeks as number 1. Yes yes, he surely is the one who needs your pity. LOL. You tell um Galloper3.

  • His backhand is just beautifully. Justin Henin's backhand is also fantastic.

  • Southern Sun / Ready Steady Go by Paul Oakenfield

  • Despite what people are saying about him no longer being the best in the world, i still believe he is. Some of the shots he plays are far more impressive than Nadal's, Djokovic's or indeed anyone in tennis at the moment. He just needs to stop making so many unforced errors.

  • Watching his backhand is like lying back to listen to soft classical music.

  • Same here, but the hardest thing isn't his beautiful swing, it's the footwork and how he anticipates topspin, speed, and the bounce so well...

That will take some time to get down :p
