Poo poo box, I wonder how big they would have made it than. LOL I just could not picture what my life would be like without Nirvana. Maybe the same, but most likely not.
The noughties have produced some good bands, you just have to hunt for some of them. Kasabian from the UK are quite good. Kings of Leon breaking through with their Because of the Times album. Artic Monkeys first two albums. The first Killers album. The band I Am Giant, who came oout right at the end. In New Zealand we had Blindspott, The Bleeders, Sommerset, Foamy Ed, Ritalin and Pluto. Some bands from the90s also hit new levels of creativity, e.g. Muse
@staponsa1 Wrong! Actually 2000-2010 is the worst decade in music! Unoriginal Commercialized Crap was only Founded in the nineties - today it reigns supreme. Boo.
Pretty good doc overall, and I'm glad the early days of R.E.M. were mentioned to shut up the posers who say they were just another 90's band with a few hits (Murmur pisses on most of the albums those posers are probably listening to), but yes they should've given a wider discussion of Seattle.
by the time REM came out with To the One I Love, they were already ancient in the indie/college rock world. we had been listening to them for 4-5 years by then.
technological advancement only ADDS to finding more underground bands which usually never get found. also it creates MORE underground bands thus more alternative music etc. how cud it be a bad thing?
Probably were originally gonna be mentioned as on the BBC website, an extra content interview with Henry Rollins has Freak Scene playing in the background
@thatrottenzombie yea i discovered Dinosaur Jr on wikipedia and wondered 'why isn't this band mentioned by any experts under the alternative category or wutever' since they do seem like something a bit different. theyr not like metal or anything else. 'the wagon' 'dont wanna go there' 'no bones' & 'feel the pain' & soon listened thru some of their albums. i never got far though cuz lol their mid-90s cds kinda drove me away. they seemed to have trouble with their sound, which is understandable
@thatrottenzombie Dinosaur Jr. Should've been mentioned in this document of alternative rock and alongside mentioning portland oregon's the wipers who had a huge influence on punk and grunge
I'm glad that they mentioned Mudhoney. Almost everytime they talk about grunge, they just talk about Kurt Cobain while "Smells like Teen Spirit" blares in the background. They need to talk about grunge bands like Green River, Tad, Mudhoney, Blood Circus, etc.
Well I had to assume so because you said "notice how these bands suck." You didn't leave Nirvana as an exception in your post, so it makes sense that you wouldn't like them. Besides, the name can be fooling dude, as there was one guy whose name said something like "Metallica rules" when he actually hated them after the 90s. By the way didnt mean to insult you just a matter of opinion, I realize that. But dude these bands, although Nirvana and REM are my favorites, are the shit.
Metal? As in men in tight ass clothes singing about how awsome they are and yelling so high they sound as if they were castraded, along with poofy girly hair? Is that what you mean? Cause...yeah im GLAD there is NOTHING like that.
still putting out cds and playing to packed arenas and large venues gary numan bauhaus u2 the cure duran duran depeche mode front 242 killing joke billy idol nine inch nails tears for fears
still putting out cds and playing to packed arenas and large venues gary numan bauhaus u2 the cure duran duran depeche mode front 242 killing joke billy idol nine inch nails tears for fears only a tiny few of vh1's other bands can still do that.
Why did they do an american only show when the other shows weren't that way?
Hmm is it because bands like, P.I.L., Duran Duran, Billy Idol, U2, gary numan, bahaus, The Cure, New Order, devo, love + rockets, tears for fears, Depeche Mode, killing joke, were more alternative and well known than the shit bands they showed? I think so.

Noughties worst decade of music ever, unoriginal commercialized crap.
I can't think of 1 noughties band that can compare to the many greats of the past.
Let's hope it picks up soon, recessions are usually good for music :)

OnewingedAngel69.
This is about altenative, not the shitty excuse for alternative the indie and emos call alternative today.
This is REAL alternative music. The left of the dial music we'll never know again because of technological advancements.
This is altenative. Fuck any other "alternative".
