I'm definitely buying one of their kits when the income tax comes in! Lol Thanks for putting me onto this! Me and my mom have been getting acrylic nails, and we can't always afford to get them done all the time. My mom loves the idea of Gel, but the cheapest I've seen a Gel manicure is $30. This doesn't seem to hard to do at home, and would be cheaper in the long run. Can I do this as a pedicure too? Is the Professional light big enough to cure for a pedicure?
@neecee401100 I'm so glad this helped you! My mom and I have been having a blast with it! I haven't tried a pedi with mine, but my foot fits easily in the light (I just tried it! lol!) I have average size feet - size 8. My mom wears a 9/9.5 and I feel like hers would fit fine too. It's advertised as being large enough and it seems to be true. I've had a gel pedi done at the salon and it lasted MONTHS. Have fun!
I just wanted to let you know that your thorough review helped me make smart purchases and LOVE my new nails!!! :) I watched your tutorial as I did my own nails! :) They turned out GREAT!!!! Thank you!!!
@MrsWarcup I am SOOOO thrilled to hear that! Watching YT videos has helped me do the same thing and I wanted to me a part of it and help others. It means the world to me to know that I have! Thanks so much for watching/commenting!
I redid it making sure to wrap the ends but it seems like they didn't cure. The same thing happened again. Color on the free edge came off on last step alcohol wipe :( Now its wearing and chipping already after just 4 days. Any advice? I'm using extremely thin coats and buffing the nail first.
@Kholmos Did you wrap the free edge with the topcoat as well? I do make my topcoat slightly thicker than the color layers and make sure to wrap the free edge as well. You could maybe try keeping it under the light for an extra minute when curing the top coat and see how that works. If that still doesn't work maybe your light isn't reflecting the UV rays quite enough. Maybe you could try curing then flipping your hands palms up and cure another minute to really get the tips exposed. HTH!
Thank you! Perfectly informative. I just did my first red carpet manicure. Only I forgot to wrap the ends with the top coat and a lot of color came off on the alcohol wipe :( Hope it still lasts. I wonder if I can go back and add a little bit?
I just bought some of the gelish polishes from amazon.com and can't wait until I receive them...my natural nails are thin and flimsy and therefore are a pain in my butt....the gelish system works amazingly for my thin nails :)
@ttcalittleangel2007 Cool! I hope you have them by now and are having fun with them!! I find the same thing for mine and my mom's nails. Not only does the color last forever, but it gives our nails just enough protection that they can grow! LOVE that! Thanks for watching and commenting!! :D
I LOVE glitter, but didn't want to buy multiple bottles of polish, so instead of buying the glittered Gelish polish,I sprinkled fine loose glitter on top of my Red Carpet polish coat, cured, then applied two coats (and cured between coats) of the Brilliance, and it worked great! I've gotten sooo many compliments on my nails! Thank you for the great tutorial :D
@ninbeauty Thanks! And thank you for the wonderful tip! I have several colors of NYX glitter that I could try. I'm definitely going to give it a shot! :D
This was a very informative video. I used to get my nails done at the salon. Almost everytime the product they put on my nails it would have a burning feeling? I just don't like the drilling too much either.
@kellybryan08 Were they using a gel nail polish or the gel nail product (the stuff that's similar to acrylic nails only a gel rather than powder/liquid combo)? Either way, it shouldn't do that, I don't think. My mom said the first time that it felt "warm" when curing the base coat, but neither my daughter nor I have ever felt that. And I'm the same about the drill. They always made me nervous. There's a potential for damage if they're not used skillfully.
I've actually been thinking about getting that dip-set-whatever - a powder you dip the entire nail into, and some sort of activating thing painted on top.
@vividlychaotic haha! When you take your tour of the US, it's a deal! :D I LOVE doing it. Actually thinking about going to school/getting licensed for it when my littlest goes to Kindergarten. I haven't heard of the powder stuff. I'll have to do some investigating! Thanks!
Love this video. Makes me really want to get the stuff to do this. :D only sad thing is that my nails are SUPER short so I cannot wrap my nail tips haha
@Triciafitz888 It is harder with shorter nails. Neither my mom's nor my daughter's extended past their fingertip when I got the system. You can use the orange stick to touch up under the ends, too. Hope that helps!
@falloutmnky Hee hee. I do feel proud. I read this last night when I was out having wine with my girlfriends and laughed SO LOUD! :D Stalk away, darlin'. XOXO <3
