At first listen, this song seems sad, filled with a lot of sorrow... but then you begin to realize that it's about frustration and feeling hopeless. Eventually the hopelessness turns to uncaring and you move on. It's bitter, something I can definitely relate to with my last relationship. The one line that hits home is, "I thought I lost you, but you were never really ever there at all." My ex was extremely disconnected, no matter what I tried to do to help. I still get lonely, but I'm happier..
