  • Comment removed

  • I used to work in the building y'all take cover in!

  • But in 2011

  • There is this show on the weather channel the channel is 225 if you have At@t uverse and the show is called: Ot could happen tommorow and it said somthin about a tornadogoing through chicago

  • It looked more appealing than Katie Couric.

  • that must of been scary holy

  • Tornado with the rain says "Now ya see me now ya don't"

  • 2012... haha. Natural disasters happen all the time. That's just how the world is. If a bunch of natural disasters are going to wipe us off the face of the earth, then there's nothing we can do. I don't care about a stupid calendar that ended on a specific day. I could get hit by a car, or die of an illness before "2012". If 2012 happens, then you can laugh in my face. OH WAIT we'll be dead.

  • lol omg wtf

  • That is some awesome rotation.Man I would be so scared...Nice vid.

  • im going here for college this fall :)

  • Wow, that's amazing! But scary at the same time.

  • i remember that day,it was a friday aftr scoo, and all i seen was a huge severe thunderstrom by my area

  • and they say tornados never land in chicago.

2012 is happening and when was this

  • @zachy1100 You sound like an idiot!

    1. It's 2010 dumbass.

    2. Tornadoes hit Chicago all the time! It's not uncommon for tornadoes to hit OUTSIDE Tornado Alley.

  • @zachy1100 tornadoes can occur everywhere in the united states

  • @zachy1100 2012 IS gonna happen... you are right. Its gonna start on January 1st and end on December 31. Nothing special will happen. If another tsunami happens or if a volcano erupts, its nothing extra special. It happens. And 2012 will not do anything except cause Idiots to commit suicide in fear of December 21. Overall if you believe in 12-21-12 then youre as dumb as the comet worshipers who drank their coolaid to hitch a ride on a frozen hunk of ice. Instead they landed a ride to the morgue.

  • and they say tornados never land in chicago.

    2012 is happening

  • @zachy1100 Also, to support my second point, there was a tornado warning there less than a week ago.

  • That is kind of terrifying, actually. Glad I was not on campus when it happened!

  • they are at the side door of sullivan looking north past piper and coffey. there really wasn't anywhere for them to go but standing near the glass wall was probably a bad idea. i remember this, i was watching from georgetown

  • Spoken like a true degenerate.

  • Like fire. Beautiful and terrifying. Who agrees?

  • MEEEEEE

  • Do you also agree that it looks like smoke too? lol.

  • anyone wanna shower?

i dare ya to go out there lol.

    nice work!

  • wow i would love to see that

  • well think about it guys....if we didn't have people like that, we would never have amazing footage like this. I applaud people, even if it is a bit stupid, that do this

  • Get the fuck inside. Do you guys wanna die? Seriously what the hell are you doing out there? I'm going to CHI in two days and i sure as fuck don't want any shit weather like this to go down

  • umm. the tornado didn't damage anything on land, so the it most have not been that dangerous.

  • This actually looks more like a funnel cloud about to become a waterspout in the beginning. Those guys should have taken cover alot sooner.

  • The air vortex may ground level even if the visible funnel does not.

  • I live on the border of Uptown and Andersonville. We heard sirens.

  • i waz watching this whole thing out my window...thnx for posting it gave me a better view

  • why weren't the sirens going off

  • lol

    good point

how do you rock roll some one

give a rock a mic lol

  • You know, they call Chicago the windy city anyway, so it takes a while that they notice that there is something out of the ordinary!

  • lol

  • Wow crazy. I weas there then, but didn't know it happened. Are you guys at the sullivan center or the madonna della strada?

  • at 1:06 i dont know why but it just brings back memories dont think im crazy it just does

  • Wern't you facing east when that storm happend and wasn't this taken on the border of Canada or if the border is just accross the lake.

  • Is anybody else going to the USA vs Honduras World Cup Qualifier June 6th at Soldier Feild? Im bringing like 10 of my boys with me..in support of our country kicking some ass......... i heard they already ahve 20,000 tickets sold.....still only 2 months away. Jozy Altidore and Freddy Adu 2 American Phenoms are gonna be playing.

  • yeah I remeber that day there were like seven other funnel clounds but i dont think any of them touched down because there was a north east breeze off the lake

  • From my experience, yes u were correct on saying it was a funnel cloud. What slowed the formation was that rain line you began to feel towards the end. Had that been on the ground and away from the water, like where u were standing, it would've been a tornado. In this case it was a Waterspout since it hit the lake. This could've easily been a Ef 2 tornado had it been on the ground. You guys were very lucky considering you were only 100 yards or so from it. I live in Metro Detroit so it's rare.

  • it looked like my ex-girlfriend.

  • hah!

  • Hah, she sucks and blows!!!

  • @itb222 a dirty home wreckng freak of nature?

  • @itb222 u got one sweet x gf lol

  • @itb222 DUDE that mean

  • This reminds me of the tornado on Gull Lake up near Brainerd ya know.

  • Wow, I don't remember this!

  • when was this storm was this august of 2007?

  • Haha, I was in this fraternity. I was on my way to this meeting, when I looked up and saw that the sky was green and swirling. When the hail started I thought, "I grew up in Ohio, I know what this is." I promptly ran inside the chemistry building to the basement. I never even saw the thing.

  • this is fliping specially if you are high

esto es flipante especialmente si vas "ciego"

    LOL

  • not stupid,just a bit crazy 8]

  • Cool Video. Just realize how easily you could have died if the tornado had shifted.

  • wow lots of rotation..good thing it touchdown in tha lake..reliquish is a dope..and i thought it was relinquish

  • SAE represent! EAE was the only frat ive met or hung out with that doesn't promote binge drinking as much as much as it promotes leadership!

  • i remember this storm

  • Awesome footage. I've seen a few on Lake Erie in Cleveland. Waterspouts are a sight to see.

  • haha im naked!!! C

  • idiots chicago tornados happen pratickly all the time

  • I know, just not as much as Oklahoma City's area. But stiil, i know they happen around Chicago, becuase i live in the near suburbs, about 6 miles from Midway.

  • i like how the sky's kinda green.

  • I'd hall ass to the basement and fast. I'm scared to death of tornadoes.

  • Notice the trees bending towards the rotating funnel cloud. That is the strong inflow that is being sucked up into the meso.

  • Damn scary stuff

Looks like you're standing around Sullivan Center (I'm a student at LUC if you can't tell). Kinda looks like there's a funnel cloud by Coffey Hall and the Chapel in the beginning of the video.

  • that's sick!

  • That was a waterspout, tornados go through the ground. But if that reached land for quite long time, so we can reconsider that... NICE SHOT, though...

  • chicago has storms like these very rarely, however, the city does frequently see severe thunderstorms.. especially during the late summer weeks. I nearly was killed as the storm passed by my bus stop. At the end of the bus ride I got off.. and like 2 seconds later the winds smashed into me. I was nearly killed my falling tree branches as I ran for my house.

  • Holy cow! Did u have to go to the hosptial or anythingl ike that. And ur right. Chicagos' one of the rarest citys to get tornados.

  • VERY good video. But the next time you see a tornado that close, GET THE HELL OUT! That wasn't a small funnel cloud. Believe me, I've seen them. That was F5 material.

  • cool video

  • ya it is cool, duh, but scary!!

  • Ya we were there, our 1 year old son was getting an mri done at the time and we walked outside to go to our car to have a smoke and the alarms went off, we stood there watching it pass in the distance then decided to go sit in our car to actually have our smoke, lol.

  • lol that reminded me of my family , we all were in our front porch watching a tornado go over our house and we were all arguing if it was a tornado (it was)

  • Better get inside. You'll get killed

  • i was actually there whn this happend!!!! i can remember looking outside the window...like wtf????? hahah

  • scary!! but awesome!

  • holy shit man it takes balls to film that lol

  • I've never seen a real tornado and I live in chicago, but after seeing this video I became interested in them.

  • Wow they swear waaayyy too much.

  • My brother Saw this from Rogers Park

  • i remember tht storm! it was so freaky! i live in park ridge and i was freakin out cuz i was alone ate home with my dog!

  • The water spout behind Jesus was cool.If he got sucked up, do you think that the storm would have abruptly stopped?

  • YOU DIDN'T RUN? lol I would have been gone with the wind, my friend. ...hey...that rhymed, eh?

  • what rhymed?

  • wind, friend.

    =]

  • lol ....gone with the wind most definitely.

  • It's a common myth that tornadoes don't hit large urban areas like Chicago. But in fact they do and, furthermore, there is no science to support that myth. Six tornadoes have been confirmed in New York City since 1950!Tornadoes are a relatively rare meteorological phenomenon (well, most years they are!!). And there are far, far more square miles of rural than urban space in the U.S. That's why tornadoes hit urban areas so much less frequently than rural areas.

  • chicago doesn't really get tornadoes. just funnel clouds that loose their strenght or dissipate as the get more into the urban areas. actual twisters never really touchdown in the city itself. people in southern illinois are more screwed. Like at U of I where tornado can really get going in those cornfields

  • Chicago has gotten tornadoes I live in northern illinois and i know we get them.

  • not a tornado, just a funnel cloud.

  • yea it touched down on the water

  • awesome video.

  • Fuckin fuck fuckity fuck fuck fuckin fuck! This is the language of a good Catholic university. Really! Indeed!

  • Are you sure it touched down?!?

I think it was just a moving funnel cloud..at least thats what it looks like...

  • ...and then comes the very heavy rain, wind and hail. lol

  • lolz

  • Nice move stand rite there next to it

  • Fuck Man My Cousin Go To Loyola Dude!!!!!!!! U Guys Seem Cool Just Be Safe

  • could have been multi vortisies in there..That is dangerous..Y'all is lucky.

  • What building is this? I go there.

  • aah. i would not stand there video taping it..i would run for cover xD

  • yeah but you aren't a dumb loyola student

  • people used to say chicago cant get hit by a tornado cuz chicago has too many tall buildings, bullshit!

  • been in chicago my whole life and i never thought we can get tornados cuz i never seen one but now i know dont ever wanna be in that!

  • get the fuck inside

  • Fuck that. =)

  • holy crap my friend was there

  • AWSOME VIDEO MAN

  • that would be fuckng amazing to be there

  • bull crap, i wouldnt be there!!

  • wow that is insane

  • Whoa that is not good.

  • People that stand out there and do that are dumb

  • safety zealots always disappoint. you got a great video nonetheless.

  • Was this the 22nd of September, 2006? I think that's the day I had taped an episode of Tyra Banks Show and I had taken a nap and woke up with the skies all cloudy and dark and the nearby park's sirens went off seconds after I woke up. (First time I know of the sirens near our house going off because of a warning and not usual monthly drills!) Then I turned on the radio.

    I live in Chicago, btw.

  • Thats like in Oklahoma

  • 2nd week I moved downtown and this happened...

Next year we had a microburst that almost blew out my 27th floor apt windows

  • looks scary!

  • They've got talky sirens on that side of town.

  • Wow!! I was @ LUC from '96-'01 and nothing like that ever happened. Awesome footage!
