@umadbrow Because zerg is the adapting race. it builds 1 building, and it can produce that unit out of all its Unit producing structures. (hatcheries)

If zerg sees terran go marine, the obvious counter is banelings. then when the terran is screwed with bio against banelings he cant shift, and if he does shift from bio to mech zerg will have time to deal with it.

I do agree that terran isnt the worst race in the game fair to say.

But its not as OP as people cry about all the time.

@thatsmeman780 I'm not sure banelings are the obvious counter to marines. it seems like they should be, and it lots of pro games, when the terran player isn't watching they are brilliant, but if he is paying attention they outright suck.. a little pro micro (that I could never pull off) and you will kill one marine per baneling at best at best, and no marines at all at worst!!

@balzi76 Yea but the pros have many other ways of dealing with bio that no casual joe like me and you could pull off. And im pretty sure that however you micro if you use zerglings to block the marines and then they cant run bam, no bio left.

But then again, its ALL about positioning, if the terran overextends punish him with runbuys or having some banelings ready to push him back.

And btw, pro micro doesnt counter banelings, it just makes them less effective.

Anyway, we probably agree that the baneling is not an 100% effective counter like voidray vs roach, and other obvious things.

Infestor ling bro, and if you can get infestor broodlord in the lategame, it's much harder for terran to stop. If anything you should be complaining about protoss I suppose, though really it isn't that horribly imba either if you have a brain and use the proper unit comps. I really recommend ling infestor centric styles, though you'll need to get roaches instead of lings if P gets templar. herp derp

Archon itself IS the counter to all bio. Even infestors are very easy to shut down. He could spread his air units and lift infestors with all phoenixes Protoss had. Or make high templars and one shot them with feedback and then morph into some more archons. Ultralisks are more expensive than archons, only melee, take more space around and are vulnerable to air. Broodlords are probably the best bet against archons, but leave little money to spare for decent anti air on just 3 bases.

Why did Golden (BitterCold) sent so many Overlords in the battles? Two times. And two times all of them were "chrunched". There are Phoenix and Archons with splash-damage on the battlefield. The Lords did nothing. Not even drop creep.

I can imagine it's for heading of the fire from his fighting units. But not again this composition... Two times (or more. I just count two)

@TrueMG the idea is to block the enemy's view of your army, something valuable for stopping the phoenix from successfully picking up specific units. They are also a meat shield there to stop some of the fire from ranged units to his army.

@xDanielWangx Well, technically speaking, yes, going for infestors with a lot of spore crawlers as defense might have worked out better, although there is no real follow up to that and you'll be overwhelmed unless you take down a base after crushing the first zealot/archon push.

@xDanielWangx You made a good job at pointing out why protoss tech units are so stupidly powerful, though. You see, he pumped out stargate units and then all his gas expenses were archons. Stargate units, unlike the other races' air units, can be got relatively early. Early in the game, they are powerful, even if you don't have many of them. As the game progresses you can get more and they'll still be efficient, great at harassment and contribute to fights.

@xDanielWangx You can't get early mutalisks, you need a lot of them and they can't contribute to fights unless in big numbers. You must basically stick to them to not be slaughtered. Protoss air is something that the zerg has to watch out for for the rest of the game while the protoss can easily spend his resources on other tech.

my last game in diamond league, i tried to DT rush a zerg player on 7 mins mark, it failed cause he got evo out then switched my dt to archon, added a few zealots and killed him cause only has zergling tech

Zerg counter to archons is Infestors. Fungal growth would have shut that army down. Really surprised Spanishiwa didn't do it when Cruncher did the exact same thing to him since Spanishiwa normally goes lings --> infestors --> ultras. Infestors and Ultras would destroy Archons. I think it's the early air pressure from Cruncher that is throwing his zerg opponents off. Force them to build hydras, queens, static and you're pretty much winning by force.
