  • them licks at the end were epic

  • you are by far the best no nonsense teacher i have seen or heard in 30 years, and you keep it fun...can i be your student?? do you teach..DVD lessons?

    Les Paul / line 6 flextone2

  • hey dave i dont know if you remember me but i was a student of yours like 7-10 years ago at seminole music and sound hahaha! but any ways i was the student that hated taking the guitar lessons and had you teach me the drums instead!!

  • been playing 16 years and sweep pretty good, but that still helped heaps. awesome lessons for people who are not gtr n00bs. thanx dave.

  • hm... maybe look a little freindlier while making the vid... cuz right now u look like u wanna punch my face in...

  • Awesome guitar instruction- from one instructor to another, excellent presentation, all that. 5 star.

  • this lesson wasn't very crazy, cool or bad ass

    it was just the basics. :{

well its still good for beginners

  • agreed

  • Awesome

  • you suck

  • wo way to throw a hint of "red house" into your little Bm pent lick... that was sick.. especially bc it wasn't carbon copied.. so ya kinda gave it your own color.. thx for the lesson

  • wow thanks for this lesson, it really helps me on learning how to sweep!

    thanks =)

  • Dave totally cool

what would be the best literature to learn the blues?

  • I really don't have a book to refer you to. I would like to write one and been thinking about it for a long time. Learn the blues scales for sure and how to apply them as blues minor (most common) and the related Major IE: "A" Pentatonic minor is also "C" Pentatonic Major. Learn licks from anyone and everyone. I will post some soon... been BUSY!

  • Kool, favorited!

  • Yoho

Solid work. Thanks for sharing knowledge. Greetings from Berlin.

  • I was actually hoping for 2 replies, to double the hilarity. So here's one more comment just for the sake of a hopeful secondary reply.

Replace your fairy fingers guitar with a MAN guitar.

  • Somebody was really bored last night!

  • Woohoo, I have to vote this guy as the best "reply'er" on youtube. I am writing this comment for the sole purpose of receiving another reply from him. The last one was awesome!

I guess i have to give good reason to reply negatively so...

Look less constipated when you play Arazmo.

  • Extremely bored.

  • Sire, can we hear that clean with the dist. on too? ;D

  • sounds like legend of zelda

  • just came across your vids and im lovin em. you're a great teacher.

  • haha wut kind of sweep is this? never seen n e thing like it

  • Haha i like how this guy doesnt take the youtube flame douche's shit, those replys are funny

  • yeah, those are pretty damn funny.

  • Out of all the sweep picking demos and lessons I've seen, this one has taught me the most... by a mile. Thanks!

And so what if the guitar looks boring? It's just one less thing to distract you from the amazing guitarist playing amazing music!

  • his guitar looks so boring.........

  • Yea it does.

  • but does it SOUND boring?

  • You've got a point, its more about the music then looks. I'm glad that there are still people such as yourself that care more about the music, you rock man.

  • yes.

  • you dont have to confuse yourself by changing the angle of the pick. Just hold the pick loosely and it will do it automatically.

  • I've been working on sweeping and the problem I have is the open strings ring out. Is this because I could be pulling off on the notes instead of pulling up, making them ring, or does this happen to everyone and you have to mute it. If so, how would I go about muting?

  • mute with the finger you used to hit the previous note while ascending, use your palm to mute each note after it is played as you descend

  • Omg!! I was laughing so hard for like the last 2 mins. He makes it seem so easy.. Thanks alot mister!

  • How long did it take you to be able to sweep Like fluently

  • hey sanhw, u think ur so good? y dont u make a better video if u hell can? c'mon show the guy what the hell ur fuckn made of.. u think ur all that, i bet u cant even teach ur fuckin mouth to shut the hell up

  • you bored the crap out of me

i though i might learn something to improve my sweeping but apparently i did'nt

you owe me 3:59 of my life!

    punk

  • You need to wipe your butt then.

To learn you must first understand. Time will tell. After puberty, try again...

You might want to consider a lot more than 4 minutes of your life, genius.

  • Word! Word! It would fit nice here with a... OWNED ASSHAT! ... here.

    xD

  • Its not shameful to look at the fretboard while you play. you look so focussed on being sure that we all know you can play without looking at your guitar, that i lost interest in the licks

  • That is a very interesting and completely inaccurate observation. I've lost interest in your comment.

  • or.. maybe he doesnt have to look.

  • you look familiar

  • You look pretty pissed off while you give this lesson, but it's still very informative.

  • it looks like i really know that guy...

    scary!

it seems like i seen him or i actually know him

  • Great job! Very informative...unlike most on u-toob

  • nice

  • ah i wish i can play like you

  • dude, i reallly improved my sweeping motion from this viddd, thankss soo muchhh!!!

  • tehy thanks dude your a great teacher keep it up :)

  • excellant

you explain that so good that this is easily to understand and to practise

    awesum

  • once again great! ur a really good teacher, alot of usefull stuff thx

  • HAHA

    GAY JOKE AT THE END

    TIGHT ASS LESSON

HAHA i got a silver tone guitar that looks just like that one

  • Another excellent lesson from Arazmo. Thanks.

  • thanks dude!

  • Thanks for the help.

So does this work on acoustics?

  • yeh it does.

  • haha his PEEPS are laughing at him, and watching talk to a camera.

  • please don t kill me:( (terrible eyes..)

  • I will kill you with my eyes.....

  • im gonna go practice right now

  • thanks for the help :-D

  • this helped me so fucking much!!

    thanx alot man!!!

  • yeah but I am GOD! mwahahahaa

  • It doesn't look like you should be doing that at work man. Looks like you kept looking to right like the manager was coming or something. Kick ass though

  • That's me keeping an eye on my peeps. I'm the owner...

  • DAMN YOUS A BAD MOTHAFUCKA!!!!!!!!!

  • check his brows ;; 0:50

  • damn dude i love the jaming u do at the end. how long have u been playing?

  • och fair enough I was in a critical mood last night. your not actually a bad sweeper.. I just go for perfection

  • Which cannot be seen in your own examples.

  • what? my sweeping video thats a year and a half old...

I could kick your ass now! ^_^

  • its a good lesson but I duno about his sweeps. He talks about "staying consistent with the 8th notes" while you sweep but each time his right hand changes the direction it's sweeping in theres a pause between the next notes...

liiike.. the notes should go ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba constantly... not ba ba ba ba.... ba ba ba ba... and so on

Maybe its just his style but it doesn't sound 'correct' to me. anyone agree?

  • Dude, you kidding me? It is a suggestion to practice it that way. I didn't say "I will now play every example that way".... A really good idea is to learn to speak Chinese with your free time.

  • Settle.

I just think it looks a bit amateur to be giving a lesson to thousands of youtubers on how to sweep well when you can't actually seem to do it urself

  • Thanks dude I've finally understand what's sweeping is...I just have to practice now^^

  • that was awesome, extremely well put. you're really good to. now maybe i can finally sweep!

  • That was a very well explained lesson. Very nicely done.

And you're nasty (good) at guitar.

  • great

    thanks a lot

  • u should learn how to play guitar man

  • yeah he needs to practice for like 10yrs before he posts another video

  • Dude you're insane.

  • thanks.

  • The last example played wasn't very musical. Would be better to put in an sweeped arpeggio that outlines the harmony.

John Petrucci was not the inventor of those type of sweeping exercises - other people did that before. It is a kind common practice routine. You guys should be glad that people are sharing informations, no matter where they are from. It's all for our benefit.

  • again clean but a rip from petrucci vid get some original licks too teach! seen all the same vids as uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

  • You again? Listen bud, so far you've mentioned players who are great, but that I have never seen live, bought a cd, or list as an influence. I'm as old as they are and grew up on Halen, Rhodes, Yngwie, Dimeola, Holdsworth, Steve Morse, and Albert Lee. Expand your horizons....

  • ur a great player and teacher

  • This is one fine sweeping lesson. Thanks Arazmo, this my first time experimenting with sweep picking, gonna practice this pattern seriously now... Your explanations are fantastic.

  • I totally agree.

  • very nice!

  • Sweet! Thanks for the tips. Sweeping has eluded for a long time... I guess now's the time to learn. That staircase pattern is pretty sweet. Satch uses does a similar thing for this warmup exercises.

  • Thanks, Dave Arazmo! I learned to sweep from ths video, I've been practicing just down-sweeps for two months, and now I can do four string sweeps easily. I'm watching this again to learn to up-sweep. Thanks, you helped me create some of my own solos!

  • right on, this helps alot! thanks, and keep up the lessons on here please

  • wow thanx for that last tip dude :D

  • Really really good :)

I have been learning this technique for 5 days now..

So far i can sweep but only slightly faster than my alternate picking...

When I'm trying to speed up all strings are makeing noise - it seems that i release the left hand to fast - so that the string rings... How to avoid that? What should be de pressure of the right hand on strings? Minimal? Just touch them a bit from above with pick?

  • just release the pressure with your fingers w/o taking them off the strings and/or mute with your picking hand after you sweep. Also, it's nice to mop and wax after sweeping...

  • hey do u have anybetter tips for me,i got everything good with my right hand but my left hand is still a little slow??

  • I laughed really hard when i realized mop and wax was a joke

  • WHATTTT!!!! You have to watch them. It is not opinion, but Bireli Lagrene and Stochelo Rosenberg are the best guitar players alive today. OH NOOOOO!!!! NO GYPSY JAZZ....thats a sin. You must look them up and tell me what you think.

  • hmmm...ending sweep direct from Bireli, ending with a Joscho Stephane solo line...slick :) Do you play any Gypsy Jazz?

  • I've never heard of those people but I'll look them up.

No gypsy jazz....but I did meet Eric Johnson last night in St. Pete. He tore it up on his blues/jazz/country/ fusion..

  • Haha my fingers are meant for the keyboards and bass..and drums...and trumpet. -i do like playin on the guitar, just dont have enough patience =D

  • smile, dave, just smile!

  • I give up on guitar after watching this

  • Why? its not that hard, just practice you lazy shit :)

  • lol now thats motivation..

  • sound like mario

  • awesome thanks for the lesson

  • i like the x shape

  • thanks alot, Dave ...i find this one helps alot for me :D ...and that was some tasty blues-feel in the end :D
