Depp becomes him in some parts of the movie, that part about the "Great Acid Wave of San Francisco", the flashback from 65, he looks exactly like him, is amazing how an actor can really get into his character, also, the movie was great, one of the best adaptations from page to screen I've ever seen, you really feel you're reading the book, great also to make people who aren't into reading getting interested on the written word.
Bill isn't as good as Depp when it comes to portraying Hunter.
Depp spent a lot of time with Hunter, he did more than match his voice and actions, he successfully captured the essence of Hunter S. Thompson and accurately portrayed all of Hunters nervous fidgets and constantly-racing mind as he speaks.
