Since Rowf has his collar off,he can leave because without the collar, nobody will know hes from the lab.Even if Snitter got his collar off, they would still find him cus of the scar oh his head :(
Goddamnit.. no.... I loved Todd so much. Disney so stole the name.. they jelly they couldn't even dream of making a film as good as Watership Down or Plague Dogs. Puahahaha. Let the true classics be known!
The tame fox experiment has been studying the genetics of domestication (not fur) in Siberia over the last 50 years. There is a parallel experiment in breeding foxes to be as aggressive as possible. While the purpose of the experiments is studying the genetics of behavior, the excess foxes from both are generally sold for fur. However, recently they have started selling some of the friendly culls, which look and act much like dogs, as pets instead. (National Geographic, March 2011)
@GreatDementron I have that issue but I havent really gotten to reading it. I did read the letters in the next issue and people didnt really seem to approve of it.
@LollyLawliet The scientists were researching the bubonic plague on rats in the same facility that the dogs were kept in, and there was fear that the dogs might have been infected by accident when they escaped. Thats probably where the name came from.
Yes it did fail. Along with being domesticated the resulting foxes had spots and stars on their coats as well as floppy ears and curled tails. I don't see why the curled tails and floppy ears would matter but the spots and star markings are undesirable in the fur trade as far as fox fur goes. I bet it didn't help that it was easier for coworkers to fall in love with them either. ; )
Damn... I honestly thought Tod was going to be a sneaky backstabbing bastard. He was a really well developed character, he was somewhat cunning, sneaky and devious, But he was also mysterious, protective and good natured at heart. He's one of my favorite characters now.
I heard that....foxes being domesticated... I don't suppose you heard why they wanted to do it. Even though it was a failed experiment for the fur trade they still are beautiful animals.
@Todo00 very good quoting me... considering the golf course is next to a moor - u tell me how thats the foxes choice of living on the course - u tell me! We as humans are the ones that make the choices and pull the triggers - they are the victims in this case - I suppose ur gonna tell me that Donald Forbes was innocent when he clubbed a tame fox to death on a golf course huh!
exactly what i was figureing they would do. call in the national guard or milatary. Sometimes i hate being right. this is one of those times. It's not the dogs fault. It's humanitys fault. They are just examples of our distructive and inhumane abilities. Kill the dogs not the peole who caused the dogs to behave the way that they are acting. Some times I'm inbarrased being on the side of humanity I wish that I was an animal sometimes. just because they don't kill and torchure for fun but survival
@Todo00 I respect you have your point of view, but considering you judge I'll be uncivilized about it, thats a bit harsh of you. I never said anything about extinction, I can hardly see it being survival of the fittest when a group of hunters and their dogs all gang up on 1 unlucky fox. Who are WE 2 decide the "fair" outcome of the treatment of animals. Its never the same 4 humans. And please don't question the foxes that were slaughtered on the gold course bit - I saw their remains :(

@twoteekay Thank you. It's just that that particular trope seems to thrive everywhere. Then there's the "I'll be right back" quote for when a killer's on the lose. Yet another death bell.
This representation of the media seems about right. Reminds me of that whole "MMR gives kids autism" thing that turrned out to be total bull-poop, but the media blew all out of proportion.
"A fox!!! A bloody fox!!!", I h8 it when people have that attitude towards these creatures or any other animal 4 that matter, but some people's (my grandparents in particular) impressions of foxes is pesky, vermin that take more than they need, especially chickens. silly fools I say, not knowin any better. Where I live there's been a killin of foxes on a golf course recently - 4 the sake of the sport, 4 diggin up the fields 4 food, they tricked them out of hidin & they shot them - SICK : (
@martinb0508 I agree totally, it always angers me when we see fox hunters hunting illegally and saying that it is a vital part of their lives. WHAT THE HELL?! They're killing the poor things for no reason!
This is moronic, a fox-hunter claimed the other day "we just take the dogs out for a walk, if a fox happens to cross out paths then they kill it, it can't be helped."
(pretty lame/unconvincing excuse right?) I loved the Tod and I feel sorry for the little guy.
yeh agreed with u 2, good 4 u. more like if they "accidentally" (but really on purpose) stumbled across the fox. When I look at the dogs in this movie - or even bambi, nowadays I feel sorry 4 them - 4 being raised 2 be stupid brutes by their humans, whereas when I was little, I was terrified of them - I felt the fear and the pain of the victims. I respect all that u have said, thank u 4 sharing that with me. I shall subscribe and add you as a friend : )
yeah, killing foxes, among any other animal, in order to keep their population down is definitely a good thing, for the rest of its species and the ecosystem, but to just go out there and kill them out of season or for the fun of it is just wrong. and besides, the lame old excuse "it can't be helped" as said by randomandproudqueen is no excuse whatsoever. you can always NOT pull the trigger

I really don't like the changes here from the book. The Todd is already dead at this point, even before Rowf was shot in the neck (Snitter saves his life). The Tod wouldn't sacrifice himself like that.
@Shilasta If I remember correctly, he's killed earlier by other hunters that go after him. I recommend reading the book. It's a little different than the movie with more focus and detail on the humans, but still very good.
Poor Tod, at the start of the film he isn't really a true freind to the dogs and is mainly just using them to help him hunt prey. However as the film progresses he changes and goes nicer and begins to risk his own life to help them.
