  • lol I could listen to that aaaall day

  • both sosund better than anything i can do lol

  • How do hook the horndriver talk box up to your keyboard/ synthesiser

  • i think that you could get some cool sounds out of the ghetto box and that i could find a couple things to use it for but i play guitar and idk if it would work out lol

  • Damn man you are extremely naturaly tallented at this. Theres no way in hell id be able to make a quick tune like that on the top of my head just to show the diffrence of the talkboxs

  • i think the ghetto box sounds great lmao

  • Ah, this is so pleasing to the ears. :)

  • I can understand you.

  • I bought my talkbox for 110$

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! Fuckin awesome!!!!

  • dude, you are so talented!

  • i use the same driver for talkboxing, and i tend to get the type of sound that's like the diaphragm in the driver is loose, kind of like when the cone of the speaker is disconnected from the surround. does yours ever get that sound?

  • @gnrfanatic141414 That's weird! I know the sound you're talking about though - the only time that's happened with my drivers is when I've just got the volume too loud! Usually, if I get that "barking" or "flexing" kind of sound, that's my cue to turn it down! Do you run your talkbox pretty loud?

  • @mootbooxle yeah generally i have it full blast because i only have a little 20 watt. Maybe the amp is clipping?

  • do u use a microKORG by any chance? if u do can u giv me some patch settings 4 the talk box

  • @ojcful stfu

  • Was that sound at the end of the video just from the casio cz-5000 or was it being played though all of those modular boxes with the leads and knobs and stuff???

  • Honestly, the ghetto talkbox had a cool sound.

  • not that much of a difference but the other one sounds better

  • your funky

  • "this is my ghetto box! I don't really think it sounds goooood. No it don't, this is my ghetto box. I don't think that it shooould. Well can you understand meee? yeah! I don't think that you can! can you understand mee? Yeah! I don't think that you caaaan. I don't know how you could. Because the sound isn't that good! No No No it's Noooooot" LOL that made me laugh when I actually did understand lol

  • well i think the ghetto is better mate

  • this guy fuckkkin jaammmms start at 3:44

  • a moot can you pm me the things that u need to make the good talkbox i already have the ghetto 1 and i upgraded it to be ok check my vids out peace

  • LMAO 0:19 "this is your friend MOOTTTTT" i love these vids guy!

  • @tooliskool89 LOL! I didn't hold it out THAT long, geez! hahaha! Peace!

  • I just recently found the video with the ghetto box and I wasnt sure how great it would sound, I wanted a better example. Thanx for the vid cuz....well it cleared things up a little. I just wanted to see if I could make that cool sound at the begining of Generator by the Foo Fighters lol.

  • @palgrim I really dig that song. In my opinion, though, the ghettobox can't do that sound. It doesn't have the sound pressure.

  • @mootbooxle I used metal parts and j welded evreythand and it has insane pressure u can feel it comming out

  • there would be some songs the ghetto box would sound good in, but others it would just ruin

  • Man you rock with that thing. way cool.

  • hey I like all your videos on this video what kind of driver was that i seen you had the EV1823m driver on one of your videos. which one do you like better?

  • Great playing.

So basically, the quality of the tone is down to the quality of the amp and drivers?

    And airtightness of course...

  • They both sound good on this video, but the second one does sound a little better.

By the way, I have a Casio CZ-1000. It's old, but I love it. I run it through a cry baby wah pedal and a POD 2.0. I'll have to try it through a talk box next.

  • To quote MooT near the start of the video: TalkBoxers...

Nice brand name for men's underpants.

  • THE GHETTO ONE SOUND PRETTY GOOD !

  • there isnt much difference yet both sound really nice :p

i liked the ghetto one cus it sounds more robotic lol

  • the ghetto one sounds fine. and well worth it for the price

  • Give wiedo how you do that!

  • i like the ghetto box because it sounds like old technoligy kinda like a old robot toy...

  • That sounds much better, it looks to me like a compression horn driver with a tube on it, that's a bit of a step up from just a speaker.

  • The talkbox effect seems to me like it is related to the vocoding effect. You know, I am new to it, so please bear with me, I am an older generation cookie...

  • I dunno... sure they're different - but they're both pretty nice... (the shitty one I built before I got my Golden Throat, now *that* sucked.)

  • i like the ghetto one better mann

  • dude this talkbox is waaaaay better....does it at all matter how good of a singer you are or is it solely dependable on the keys which you play?

  • and at 2:23 is that part of a lamp?!

  • I got a question. Why not just use better quality speakers for the ghetto talkbox? It for sure would sound better

  • i agree with luigilover48. Could you make a vid showing how you made the real deal talkbox? both sound phenomenal, and the ghetto one could be useful in a pinch. but the real deal is, well, the real deal.

  • @boosborne GO AWAY!

  • why?

  • @boosborne You are being very innapropriate...

  • sry. but that guy is weird!

  • @boosborne I LIKE IT THAT WAY

  • i think its sounds great for the price it was made

  • i really liked the funky music with the talk box XDD its really funny i'd like to make one but i cant find the materials speacilly those old speakers

  • i built a talk box from a horn driver like you did, but it did not work, so i'm buyin the roctron banshee talk box.

  • 1/4 OD inch tubing or did you mean 1/2 OD?

  • how did u make the real deal

    post a video

  • the ghetto box sort of sounds like the microphone that heavy smokers use to talk

  • your sounds are very good!

  • i actually like the ghetto one better. its less polished and i like that more than the real deal. reminds me of zapp and troutman.

  • okay the ghetto sounds real good for a bunch of thrown together parts but the real one sounds siiick!! so much clearer, defined, and full!

  • the ghetto one sounds just as nice whats the difference tho in the real deal one a horn driver?

  • It's got a much clearer sound, it's brighter, warmer and it picks out diction better.

  • you are the fk**n' sickest man on earth.

i'd like to have 1/1000 of your talent, man.

    keep up! :-)

  • i love you kevin spanky long.

    haha

  • and can u use a tolkbox over a normaly midi ?

  • yeah hook it up to the headphone jack on your pc or mac

  • do every body can sing with a talk box???? :)

  • @ThehighjackaMC if you know how to play piano^^

  • hey moot i cant get any real words (consonants) out of my ghetto talkbox. its very airtight. the sound is loud. i use a 1/2 inch-ish tube. should i be using a smaller one?

  • Heay man I try using a getto talk box buy I don't now how to sing in it?,

  • In my opinion, it's easier to understand what you say with the ghetto box, since the cheaper driver reproduces more of the high frequencies which are the ones you alter when you change the shape of your mouth. The "real deal" talk box has a more balanced frequency output, which, while more pleasing to the ear, is more difficult to understand.

  • That's a good observation, but I have to say that's it's not exactly the way it is...(you wouldn't have known this though) On the parts where I used the "ghetto box" I did some extreme EQ surgery in post-production just to make it sound intelligible...AND I had to over-enunciate with my mouth. So really, the "real deal" is much better, because I didn't have to do any of that stuff.

  • the ghetto box still doesn't really sound that bad

  • @mootbooxle With post production the sound of the first one could fill a few niches. A lot of people actually look for that grittier sound.

  • @mootbooxle can you post a video of the ghetto box b4 the "EQ surgery"

  • the vibrato is made with an LFO and a wheel that "turns on" the LFO to bend the pitch slightly. The wheel he is using is called the mod wheel.

  • ah, thanks!

  • no you dont have to sing at all! you dont even have to use your vocal chords! you just play the notes on the keyboard and move your mouth as if to say words... pretty simple... the only thing you need to do apart from moving your mouth is making those "s" and "t" and "f" sounds. the talkbox isn't gonna make those sounds for you, but they are real simple to make.

  • is he making the vibrato with the .. oh i don't know what it's called, the wheel that he's using to bend the notes? or is that already programed.. or is he doing that with his voice?

  • I think the ghetto one isnt that bad but obviously the other one is better

  • Explain me.. Must I sing for use the talkbox?? because I can't sing

    sorry for my engish

  • I can understand you!

  • I have listened a few more times, and that is one of the most sick licks I have ever heard! Keep it up Moot!

  • WOWOWOW I like the little lick where it cuts in and out. awesome. I have never heard anyone do that before with a talbox. A "killswitch effect".

  • Just built a nice talkbox. I did some research and found the same driver you use and bought parts from the local hardware store to complete. Now, all I need is to find a good talkbox synth or figure out what patch to use from either my Yamaha Rack ES synth, Triton Extreme or my Roland XP60. Any suggestions?

  • I made a homemade talkbox that's just like the real thing. But, I've gotta get a better microphone. All I did was tape a vinyl tube to a speaker, and plugged it into my amp, and tada, it was finished!

  • i think the ghetto one sounds really good...but the other one is a little more clearer ...both equally good

  • could you do some more videos of just some synth talkbox jamming?

  • man i love talk boxes with synths, kicks the shit out of talk box with guitar

  • looks like a bong

  • wow you're good with the talkboxes!

i just finished my ghetto talkbox, and now i see this! show us how to make the good one!

  • i understood the ghetto one, but im just more impressed by how well you talkbox, i just got my MicroKORG and i dont know how to use it but...im thinkin about makin a Talk Box now.

  • Huahahah this guy's great

  • ya i made a ghetto taslkbox and its garbage but urs sounds great. honestly i think they both sound amazing.

    ur good

  • I wish everything on you tube was this informative. It would be a bonus if everything was this funky too, but that is too much to ask I suppose.

  • i think they are actually equally good

  • But the real deal sounds a lot more enunciated and pure sounding than the ghetto to me.

  • I love it!!!

  • wow.. i'm blown away by your videos and performance!

  • wow look at his fingers he's pretty good with a keyboard

  • Herbie Hancock All the way...

  • theres a big difference between the 2 but the ghetto one sounds good to someone that just learned about it

  • I actually don't think the ghetto one is that bad. Can you put up a video explaining how you made the good one too? Or would tat take too long?

  • tu nous as bien eu, espèce d'enculé !

retourne à ton standard téléphonique ! hahaha

  • i love the ghetto one

  • condenser by the looks of it

  • yes I can understand you

  • Hah, the sound reminds me a lot of Herbie Hancock :P

  • they both sounded awesome. my ghetto one didnt work anywere close to that

  • I thought the ghetto talkbox sounded just as good as the "good" talkbox. . . I could understand everything you said into the ghetto one.

  • heyyy how do u use it on guitar????

  • You'd have to have a guitar amp hooked up to the speaker being used. The sound comes out of the tube and is manipulated by your mouth- hence you needing to have a mic right next to it.

  • how much total did every one of your synthesizers cost

  • If u dont leik ur ghetto talk box can i use it?¿

  • when you make the nosies do you have to actually talk or just move your mouth?

  • was that a serious question? XD

  • yes that is a serious question, its not stupid is it?

  • No you don't actually talk. Think of it more like 'lip-syncing'. Only sounds you actually have to make are hard sounds like the 'c' and 't' sounds in cat. Also make 'h' sounds. Just to name a few.

  • ok cool thanks

  • AWESOME:D:D:D:D:D BOTH OF EM!!! Im gunna learn to play the keyboard!!!

  • The ghetto box is REALLY good! I'm building one that's a little bit different.

  • they sound pretty close if you ask me

  • that's just fucking awesome.

  • dude the talkboxing was amazing!

  • respekt we cud uz sum ov dat shit on a few ov our traks

  • english?

  • take a second or two,

    you'll understand it eventually.

    lol

  • respect we could use some of that shite on a few of our tracks ;)

  • Why do people write "shite?"

    It's shit.

shite would be pronounced in a way that rhymes with night or bite, or something like that...

  • Shite is wut they say in europe like colour or chips (instead of fries) y did i kno that? wtf?

  • poper translation:

"hello there, thank you very much, I really appriciate you showing us this video. Me and my friends are thinking about using using this neat contraption on a small collection of the songs that we have composed."

  • And, to further the grammatical correction, replace "me and my friends" with "my friends and I."

    Grammar nazi ftw!

  • I like the ghetto version because YOU made it! I'm sure your mother would agree. Can I have the one you think sucks? I wanna put it on my refrigerator... ehhrm, synth.

  • such gay movements...

i like your little "studio". nice work!

  • I like the harsher sound of the Ghetto talk box. I can completely understand it.

The real talk box does have a much nicer tone. I suppose it's just personal preference/what the talk box is to be used for.

  • yes, I can understand you

  • Same.

  • woahh ashton kutcher

  • myth busters are coming for you, moot FTW!

  • does the ghetto one work for electric guitar?

  • i heaard more from the ghetto

  • i cant get my ghetto box to be air tight with the duck tape any suggestions

  • hot glue gun.

  • use the rubber part of a plunger

  • You can hear what you're trying to say more with the ghetto talk box.

  • in my opinion i prefer the ghetto better coz it sounds more proffecinal like daft punks

  • they use synths lol. they dont even use talk box

  • This is true. They use Vocoders which is often built into a synth like the little one Korg produce. But I think what Lilbrooksy is trying to say is he prefers the sound of the ghetto talk box because it sounds more like Daft Punks vocoder.

  • okay vocodors, atleast i know they didnt use talk boxes man. dont go thumbsing me down.

  • took it off

  • i like the ghetto one better!

  • i actually did like the first one better.

this is the good box Lol!

  • i honestly prefered the first one.

  • where can i get a synth for cheap?

  • Didn't Roger use a DX-100?

  • i think it isn't that big of a diffrence

  • Thats fucking sick! im making one now

  • is that a moog ? LoL

  • you're incredibly irritating but absolutely brilliant

  • I love it dood :)

  • you've got the irritating part right.

  • awsome!! :)

  • You rock

  • Your song rocks!

  • what if you bought a better sounding speaker for the ghetto talkbox? one that wasnt bought from a thrift store lol

  • can you here me? i bet you cant lol

  • i have a cz-1000. under rated. great for 80s funk stuff

  • Dude! I thought that now one was store-bought all this time! what's the Grey blob/black base made of?

Hey CrazyTexMex04, just use a standard 1/4 inch adapter. You can find them at any music shop, or try radioshack.

  • ok how do get the head phone jack to plug in to the guitar or amp

  • i guess you have headphone with a mini-jack? Just buy a plug that converts the mini-jack to a normal jack.

  • Just for informations sake you can get one in any music or electronics shop for practically nothing.

  • Say that to CrazyText

  • That's who it was for, whoops!

  • i like the ghetto talk box sound

  • oh i do understand you

  • For anyone who liked this, watch his outtakes video with some funny stuff that got cut from this video.

  • lol. looks like you got better. not only with quality but the talkbox its self. good job man. off the hook music

  • 5:33---- that was fuckin sick!!!! :D
