I think this would be so much better just as the original without the voiceover... it kind of ruins it.

The whole point of the onomatopoeia and strange voice sounds was to create a unique way for children to understand the feelings of the characters and plot of the story.

its an original idea and very cute =]

this is the funniest, most addictive children's program i've seen. my 5 month old is at his best when mio mao is on, and i'm addicted to it, watching it more than he does! i wish i could find dvd's, t-shirts, sippy cups, whatever!!! i can only watch it on baby first in between crappy shows. but hopefully dvd's are soon to come, and then we'll have a mio mao marathon!

There are 3 DVDs containing the first 22 episodes available from a polish website which Ive linked in some of the 80 episodes Ive uploaded here :)

So if you cant figure out how to order then you can at least see the ones on the DVD aswell as the ones not available, Enjoy :)

I think it was aired in Brazil back in 1977 until 1980 or 1981. In portuguse, of course.

At that time at my home we used to own a humble black and white tv. So these colors were just imagined by me.

Now I have the opportunity to show it to my 5 y.o. son.

I saw Mio Mao this morning on an English channel and I was shocked when I heard the narration (btw, I'm Italian :-)

Maybe English people think that the poor children will have speech problems otherwise... But what happened to immagination?

And why the narrator finds so difficult to pronounce Mio & Mao correctly?? It's easy!Listen to the song for God sake! :-)

I must say again how pleased I am at how many people love this and find it brings up great memories.

I totally agree that its been kinda sullied by the narration, it most probably is something brought abt after the furoar over tellytubbies speaking babyish and not being developmental by doing so.

IMO its not needed especially as you say when the narrator pronounces Mio as Mew!

Imagination is far more powerful!

Guess its just one of those things :(

Yeah this was on telly in the Uk last year and i think had narration added by channel 5 who broadcasted it on smile in the mornings and tickle patch and friends.

as i think i said in the blurb there is an episode or two i think on a smile DVD but i want the full set of episodes LOL
