@StickyickyX It's actually due to how messed up the legal system is in the Ace Attorney universe. You are arrested on minimal evidence, and your trial is the day after the arrest. If you don't get a not guilty in three trial days, it's passed on to the higher courts.

Just to let you know DSP, You can save at any moment in the game so you can refrain from having to start the case over if you fail during cross-examination. Notice you didn't do it in the first game, but at the same time you didn't need it.
