  • Hello My name is Teresa and I have an older sister named Shalimar who has Rett syndrome. When she was 2 yrs old everything changed. Many doctors told us that she wouldnt make it past 14 now shes 25! My mother and I thank the Lord everyday for her! When i watched your video it touched me. Shes very beautiful and she looks very similar to my sister! Ill put a video up of her soon!

  • @sweetchica2know A huge hug to Shalimar from Vanessa please :-) The way I see it is, nobody knows how long anyone is going to live. Vanessa is now 18 yrs. old and I thank God for her being in my life every day. Can't wait to see the video of your sister xxx

  • Vanessa is now 17 yrs. old, I know that many have asked me to keep them updated on her, so I have videotaped her and added it to YouTube. She still has her beautiful smile :-)

    Jane :-)

  • My daughter was diagnosed in 2007 and it is a daily struggle but she is a wonderful little girl. This video was beautiful and I thank you for sharing

  • Vanessa is 5 months older then me. And I have Hemiplegia Cerebral Palsy. I was diagnosed at 11 months old in May of 1994. I was born in June of 1993. Sometimes my legs or lower back hurts. Vanessa & I are blessed to have awesome families to understand our disabilities.

  • Sorry for taking so long to answer, but I rarely go into YouTube. My apologies. Your Mom and I are the blessed ones to have you and Vanessa in our lives. Love from you girls could never be more powerful !!! Hope to hear from you again. xox

  • I'm living in Belgium and I get my little girl's diagnose on April the 30th. I'm completely down but I have to fight for her and for my 2 boys. I'm very touched to see the pictures of Vanessa. May God bless her and all her family.

  • It may sometimes be a hard path to go down, but always remember that it is even harder for your daughter, who cannot speak for herself. The unconditional love you recieve from your little angel, is worth more than anything thrown our way. To lose my Vanessa, will be that same as losing my heart, because it belongs to her. Hugs from us to you...xox

  • Your Grand daughter is beautiful, her smile is so amazing.

  • Thank you so very much. An amazing smile that can brightens up a room. :-)

  • Thank you for sharing you story of your angel Vanessa. We have just been told out special granddaughter Jaelynn age 2 1/2 has rett syndrome, She has always been the light in my eyes as I know Vanessa is your light. please keep her progress posted as i know it will help my family and others. I think we are given these special angels for a reason. My heart and prayers are with you and your family. Your granddaughter is a beautiful and special child. My prayers are with you

  • All I can tell you is "Be strong" !!! We don't realize how strong we must be when they are just little girls, but as they get older, they don't get better :-( and it is hard to watch someone you love so much going down hill. I don't think Vanessa could ever get any worse now. Though I've said that before. Hug Jaelynn for me please and love her with all you've got. And especially, hold her in your arms...I miss holding Vanessa (she breaks too easily for us to hold her). xox

  • @columbiatnangel Thank you so much for writing. I'm sorry, I didn't know there was another comment, or I would have answered long before this. I have another a video I posted yesterday of my precious angel. It is called "When Vanessa Smiles" updated, June 2010. She is now 17 yrs. old. All the best to you and your family. please give Jaelynn a hug from me :-)

  • Thank you for sharing, Such a great song, Who sings it. Your angel is so perfect.

    Tarah, Julia 2, RTT

    Cherry Hill, NJ

  • Celine Dion sings it. I thought it was perfect for my silent angel.

Thank you for viewing my Vanessa.

  • God bless her !! she is so pretty her personality shines through ... You are very bless with such a good girl ..may god bless her n u with many more things !!!

  • Thank you so much for your kind words :-)

  • My sister has Rett Syndrome as well. She is 16 and my family and I are very blessed to have her. She has made me a better person! In many of the pictures, she looks just like my sister. God bless you and I wish you the best of luck. It is a very difficult disorder for the individual and their family to deal with, but never give up hope!

  • Thank you for taking the time to write. Vanessa has taught me what unconditional love is all about. She is a precious child. She fell into a coma last Friday, but came out of it over the weekend. She is not doing very well. I know your sister brings you joy as Vanessa does me. And yes, it is a difficult disorder to deal with. It is hard to watch someone we love live like this. All the best to you and your family.

  • God Bless You. She is precious. Your video has no doubt enlightened a lot of people to this syndrome. I know I had not heard of it until your video made me search for info.

Myabe through your video there will come a raised knowledge and hopefully a cure!

  • Thank you very much. I only hope that one day a cure will be found. I am happy to know that by posting the video of my precious Vanessa, others may get to know a bit of what Rett Syndrome does to these girls. It looks like Vanessa is losing her battle. This was a rough weekend for her.

  • My heart goes out to you. I will pray for you all.

  • Thank you for commenting, and I apologize if I missed replying to you. I try to reply to those who take the time to comment, but don't come into YouTube very often and must have missed some comments. Again, my apologies. :-)

  • What a beautiful girl Vanessa is, and truly the apple of Grandmas eye!! She is truly a happy and very much loved young lady. You are in my prayers. How is Vanessa doing? Keep us posted, and thanks for sharing this video.

  • Thank you very much. Yes Vanessa is the apple of my eye. She is so precious. She wasn't doing very well at all this weekend, in fact, we thought it was the end for my angel. But she started to do a bit better yesterday though. I will keep you up to date on her condition. Again, thanks for caring.
