I have two kakarikis, a male and a female (they are brothers). The female is very kind. The male is kind when he wants... i.e. he can be on my shoulder playing with something and in the next second he starts biting my ear. Anyone who's able to explain that? If i then show him a seed,he starts whistling..
Hi, congrats on the new Kakariki. To teach it to talk basically you just need to repeat what ever it is you want it to say over and over again until you're sick of saying it lol. It's easier to teach them when younger and males will speak more.
Yum Yum, Bitey Boy, Bitey Yum Yum, Tickle, Tickle Tum, ill try to get a video of him saying these things, but recently he is more interested in his new female partner.
We have a pair of kakarikis (hybrid lutino/pied male and female) the male goes absolutely mad in the morning! the female makes a weird mouse squeaky sound but is ever so tame and will sit on your hand quite happily
I love karikies

Is it true that kakarikis don't use their beaks when climbing around their cage?
If so, that must be funny to watch.
